Another thing that I love in what Jorge does with the music is the fact that there is so much thought behind litteraly every note. Like when the Siren sings "Our Daughter". The note on daughter gets kinda flat with a dissonance. Because it's a lie. And also because, as he's mentioned, the Siren doesn't have ALL the information she needs, because the way the song works is when the man hears it, she gains that information. Because the beeswax muffled the song, the information is muffled as well. It's just...Gah! I'm fascinated by this man's brain.

I love your takes on all the songs! You have a nice voice! I like the original Man of the House. Athena vs Aphrodite goes SO HARD. Hades is beautiful, I’m kinda sad we didn’t get that song. I agree that it should have a lower, more soft spoken voice. In Vain goes inexplicably hard, I don’t have the words. The Light Inside is so good and Olive Tree had me starting to tear up🥹

Octavia breaking ties with Stolas was awful, but it actually makes sense from her perspective in the story even if we as the audience know that she's got it completely wrong about Stolas. Sure, Octavia saw Stella and Stolas fighting a lot, but that doesn't mean she really understood the sheer depths of the toxicity there since for a long time she didn't know her parents always hated each other since back in season 1 she thought the hate and toxicity was a more recent development. I know that when I was a teen and my mom and grandma got into angry screaming matches at times that after it was done my mind read it as being resolved and no longer a problem and never considered there could be underlying long-term issues going on with anyone until we had to cut contact with my grandma completely because we couldn't afford getting involved with her baggage when my mom was taking care of raising of my baby brother while I started college. And even then, she definitely is under no illusion that Stella is awful and is more upset about Stolas leaving her alone with that woman and asking why he even married her in the first place since she doesn't seem to know it was a non-negotiable arranged wedding. It also needs to be said that while Stolas does care for Octavia and show he loves her it's still true that both times we saw that focused on in the show was after things already blew up from him unwittingly neglecting her distress and relegating her to an afterthought through his actions by either focusing on Blitzo during what should have been father-daughter time or forgetting about the stargazing because he was too caught up in spiting Stella during the divorce. Stolas loves Octavia with all his heart and deserves to be able to be happy with her, but I think that he just wasn't very good at actually being a parent and that led to Octavia's insecurities with believing she is unwanted and unloved building into a terror at feeling she could be abandoned. Which seemed to come true when Stolas offered to let himself be killed while saying he has no regrets. Octavia just doesn't completely understand what has actually happened and is lashing out in misdirected pain, in part because Stolas was really bad at explaining himself before and accidentally alienated her the way that almost happened between him and Blitzo. To repeat, Octavia's anger at Stolas and cutting ties with him aren't really what I would call right. But it is something that makes sense in the story given the context of the situation and the established flaws of the characters.

Honestly, I'd definitely prefer a modified version of Appetite to NSFLY. It's probably just that both of Calypso's songs remind me of a really toxic relationship I had. I also think Appetite fits better with this Ody being completely faithful, as paired with Love in Paradise, NSFLY just feels very ambiguous on just how far Calypso pushed him, to the point where IMO there's only one way he can be interpreted as having stayed faithful. I don't know, just makes me feel gross in a way even Hold Them Down didn't manage. tbf, Antinous is treated as the villain in that song, doesn't get to act on his plans, and is shot through the throat at the end, which makes it a lot more comfortable than something that feels way too close to glorifying a Very similar Act by a character in NSFLY. Appetite makes Calypso a bit more tolerable because Odysseus is actively leading her on and isn't being Forced into anything besides staying. (Most of the problem is that Love in Paradise has a few lines that seriously imply that she's charming him with magic and depriving him of free will, and then NSFLY doesn't really address that and jumps straight to "sorry my ____ was too much for you, but I'm not sorry for ___ing you").

I could definitely see Hades coming on after Athena's "Please... Release him..." at the end of God Games, basically an interlude between that and Not Sorry For Loving You. I don't necessarily think it's better than just having Athena's sacrifice be enough to mollify Zeus, but I can see it motivating Hades into appealing to his younger brother.

For the "I love you, but not in the way that you want me to" thing, I think at least in the canon animatic, Odysseus does genuinely mean it and he wants to empathize with Calypso, but he's also exhausted and probably a bit resentful, so even if he does care for her, he's not in the right state of mind to express that in a more gentle way

i've been kinda feeling the same way. i'm in a different creative sphere than you (songwriter/vocalist), but seeing the fruits and rewards of my efforts after things being stagnant for so long is equally as gratifying and exciting as it is intimidating, yk? trying to get over the hurdle of actually putting my work out there and promoting myself on top of it is so daunting, but seeing other people who look like me succeeding in creative fields makes it a little less terrifying i think we dm'd back and forth a bit earlier in 2024 so this might be repetitive but i've *loved* the work you've put out over the past year on both channels, and i can't wait to see what else you've got in store for 2025 :)))

So this might come off as hella parasocial or using the comments as a therapy session but this is scarily similar to me right now. I can't pretend that I've been here since the start, I started watching because of the epic content and seeing you be so genuine about your feelings and how much you get into the things you enjoy was really awesome to see. But I'm turning 26 this month and things have been going so terrible for me recently, losing my job before the holidays, car troubles nonstop, and having to deal with an ever increasing anxiety of getting out in the "real world" again. Away from the norms of my everyday, sitting at my computer and talking to my online friends and acting like nothing is wrong until I leave that discord call and meltdown about the bills I'm starting to get behind on. But I want to make a change and I'm hoping that things continue to get better for you and maybe some of that can rub off on me. Keep up the good work big man, 100k on the main isn't nearly as far off as you might think king!

Love how you caught how similar Stolas was acting to Loona this episode. I've seen people acting like it's out of character for Blitz to not be bothered by Stolas's attitude but like, why would he? He's dealt with much worse from Loona and, they're both canonly his favorite people. Also, he already liked Stolas when he acted much more stuck up in S1, so why would he care now?
