Correct, Actually Smart Summon is part of the FSD package, which is not allowed outside of the USA and Canada yet.

Initially, updates are released for HW4 and subsequently, after a recompile, also to HW3 vehicles. Elon Musk promised a free hardware upgrade for HW3 owners if that computer would be insufficient to achieve adequate safety performance in the future. So, please be patient. 😊

Agree! With these UNECE restrictions and bureaucracy, innovations are impossible. They want the benefits without the risk. And 99% of drivers are treated as if they are all like the 1%.

@@TeslaLifeEuropemore like 99% of all drivers don’t really care about FSD and the autonomous bubble. And yes, risk management is huge in Europe. Thank god we don’t play lab rats. If someone doesn’t like it, I am sure the US is looking for capable people ;)

Lab rats? Using old fashioned cruise control in your average car is much more of a lab rat situation than using FSD-supervised.

This is a United Nations regulation and the UK is a member of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). So, they should be expected to follow the UNECE regulation.

Indeed it is only for owners who bought FSD in the past, which required HW3. Older hardware never supported FSD(-beta). Maybe, if you now have HW2.5, you can still upgrade to HW3 for a reduced price? Please, consult Tesla!

The Mercedes system has many limitations and can only be used in a few specific situations, whereas Tesla FSD can be used anywhere.

@@TeslaLifeEurope No, that's not right. Tesla's FSD may be usable everywhere at some point. So far, these are just promises from a man who has hardly ever kept his word. Mercedes already did that well.

I do not recognise the issues you seem to have with autopilot. I’ve used autopilot for >70.000 km now. The few cases where vision-based autopilot does unexpected things seem to be related to map data errors. Please remember that the current autopilot function and auto wipers neural net are still in development and are awaiting EU regulators’ approval of upcoming updates. So, for the time being: hands on the steering wheel when on autopilot! The Tesla Full Self Driving software version currently in beta testing in the USA is far advanced vs. what we have in Europe. And it will come to Europe in the near future.

@@TeslaLifeEurope My major issues with the car, like when it was trying to kill me (the truck) has all happened after "Vision" was installed in mine approx. 4 weeks ago. Sure there was a few "happenings" before but that was only really minor an happened +10x less than today. I always has my hand on the steeringwheel, god knows what else would have happened when i met that truck. Tesla has been on neural net for a very long time now. Do you honestly believe that after +5 yrs on TM3 they somehow by magic should get it working? The cameras simply arent fit for the purpose. Thats ex. why it takes 2½-3 seconds from you pass a car where the lights are dimmed until it can go back to main beam. The CCD is saturated with light. This +30 years electronics-technician is very sure Elon has put a dream in your head. Why else are they upgrading HW all the time? Your car should be perfectly fit for FSD many years ago & ultra simple automations like dimming of main-beam & autowipers that any other carmanufaturer in the world has been able to make in a way that for all of them is far superior to the "randomisation" Tesla provides..You must truly be a believer and i am utterly in disbelief of how Tesla has ruined my car in what is 100% costsaving and removing functionality of hardware i have paid for.

My experience is that that is still 'work-in-progress'. Sometimes signs are not recognised and speed changes follow Google-maps data, sometimes speed signs are recognised correctly. In The Netherlands, the matrix signs above the lanes are recognised correctly. A confirmative tap on the autopilot stalk activates the new speed setting in the car. After a certain distance (few hundred meters) the default speed for the road is shown again on the display so that you can return to that speed by pulling the autopilot stalk towards you for 2 seconds.

I use autopilot on highways all the time, @ 130-135 km/h. It is perfectly stable and very safe. You suddenly start noticing how many drivers accidentally swing and leave their lane. Autopilot detects those situations and breaks or steers away.

I surely hope so too. Not impossible in my opinion.

You're right, there is a big gap between the FSD-beat program in the USA and Autopilot in EU, but FSD-beta is also available to a small group of drivers (mainly Tesla personnel apparently). And if the UNECE wants to allow autonomous driving because of its safety promise, I would think my assumption is the way to go. Let's be optimistic... :-)

This is already implemented. Look at Elins tweets. They use the camera (and probably other inputs) do make sure you are paying attention. Some costumer have already lost the FSB beta privilege

It could be, at least in part, as long as the driver monitors the system at all times and remains responsible to take control of the car at all times. Hope the UNECE will approve it that way.

That map shows the European Union countries. Most countries in geographical Europe have signed the UNECE Vienna Convention.

That’s why Full Self Driving is the answer!

IMO an Idiot proof system will never happen and not required.. A system that is 10 times safer than human driver should be good enough to be legal.
