NICE but NAHH...too much WIND GRADIENT!

It's frustrating when the wind on the ground is just right, but the wind at altitude is just too much to push through. No cross country flying here! But, the views were still nice.

Brilliant 👍🏻
Hi Adam, what's your all up weight and what size wing,
Great take off and landing..Just one question, why are you making us look up their shorts? I can’t unsee what I have already seen.
Hiya Adam, are you still flying?
How many hrs a day were ya training?! Can't see why/how it took 7 days?! , 7 hrs maybe! 🤷 😆
Amazing video, loved the journey. Where did you do the training at plz?
I nearly cheered @ 12:54 😅 Brilliant stuff.
Many thanks….i did too when i managed it 😂🤘
So what was wrong with the motor
It ended up being just a dirty spark plug
👍
Always better not flying and wishing you had, rather than flying and wishing you had not. Cheers, mate!

I really enjoy watching your progress! Thanks for making your videos 🙂
Thanks Bryan, glad you enjoy. You should give it go 🤘
Congrats man....I can't wait to fo this....
Always have an out? For crying out lout the entire country is an out. Sure looks like a great place to fly.
😎
Cheers 🤘
Hello Great videos!!! Which is the size of your Qubik ?
Hi many thanks. Thats a 27mtr i have which you see in the video. Im a heavier pilot 😅. Glad you enjoyed 🤘
@@adamthorpe1 Thank you very much, 🙏🙏🙏
Good Video where is this can we join you
Amazing…. First takeoff and landing🫣 second 👍👏👏😆 congratulations man. Ready to fly.
Many thanks 🤘😎
Tks for sharing! Awesome to watch. Very well done!
Cheers glad you enjoyed 👍
Am having my first lesson tomorrow!
@@tonychapman3645 Awesome, good luck and keep us updated on your progress 💪👍
well done mate..that's a sub from me! I have been thinking of doing this for years now but I'm not sure I'm there yet financially. I have so many questions but I'm sure you'll answer them in your videos..I've got some watching to do. Also It's nice to see someone from the UK on here. If I can ask one question though, how much would you say you have spent in total from day one of having nothing to your first flight with kit and training an the likes? Thanks very much.
Well Done Mate!!😉👍🏼
Many thanks 👍
Awesome video mate looking to get started myself. Is there any laws or regulations to this or do you just go get training and that’s it?
Thanks dude! Give it a go you wont regret it. Currently its unregulated, you dont need a licence. However, you do need to adhere to air law as you can imagine so when you’re flying you do need to know what you’re doing. With proper training, like anything really, you’ll be taught everything. BHPA schools have a great syllabus which includes all the practical flight training and ground school, exams included etc. Also so much fun 🤘
Brilliant Video
Cheers Simon. Have you got your gear?
@@adamthorpe1 Yep well wing and Motor just a Helmet to get round to getting, still learning went to Italy with Danny and got up once but hopefully more soon :)
@@1404sigi great stuff 👍 we’ll have to sort out a spare helmet and we’ll arrange some flights together if you’re up for it 🤘
@@adamthorpe1 I am a way from that yet but would love to when I am safe enough ! need to order a Helmet I just keep forgetting !
Loving this im looking to do this myself could you do a video of the equipment you bought. Keep the vids coming
Many thanks glad you enjoyed the video. There are indeed more lined up. Thanks also for the suggestion 👍 give it a go you won’t regret it 🤘
@@adamthorpe1 theres alot of i structors who or what company did you use thanks
Ive read the comments in part 1thank you adam
@@daviddean4705 i trained with FlyPap. Had the best experience. I put together a series of 8 videos highlighting my training so you might want to check those out too. I’d recommend a BHPA registered school, you know you’re being trained by a reputable syllabus and by qualified people. For me, you cant put a price on that in this game, but there is a good choice out there. If you go for it…get some footage and share with us your own experience 🤘
What a joke.
Nice footage of Tetton, sparrow grove and moston flash👍
Which wing is that? I have a link 2
This is the Quibik, 27mtr. Similar to the Link 👍
I love the Telemetry on this video. What do you use for it?
Thanks. All data including GPS info was recorded using the GoPro camera itself. No additional equipment needed. You have to use GoPro software to extrude the info from your recordings but its there 👍
Great video. I loved your entire video from start to finish and how you kept addressing the weather. You guys in the UK seem super friendly. Greetings from California, USA.
Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed the video 👍 😁
WOW"" THIS GUY PROPER MILKS A STORY AS MUCH AS ANY MILKMAID IV SEEN ON THE UDDERS."
Have you tried nil wind landings? How would you describe them ? I have heard from Qubik pilots that its not smooth and easy on landings and does not have much flare authority. What are your thoughts? Thanks
Hi. My experience with Nil wind landings, or very little wind, has been very positive with the Quibik. I have no issues at all with flare authority (I always have plenty), although that may depend on the conditions at the time, experiencing sink at the very last moment for example can sometimes feel like the brakes didn't do much. The key with most landings is to keep pressure in the wing, by keeping your speed up, and bleed it off at the bottom. You will get better response with good airflow. You could of course slightly shorten the brake lines a tad if you demand more from your brakes depending on your setup and reach etc, but that's not my recommendation and I would get more validated advice before deciding to do anything like that. But I have had no issues at all with mine, in fact I can honestly say the Quibik has exceeded my expectations in many ways and I could not ask for a better intermediate wing at my level, with plenty of brake authority, even for a heavy guy like me!. All the best and happy flying 🤟
@@adamthorpe1 Much thanks for your input here. I think Landing was only part I was concerned about on Qubik. I will give it a go 👍🏽
@@dhanaybarbhaya Yeah i wouldn’t concern yourself too much about it, this wing has a great reputation and like anything really, you’ll only truly know once you try it. But genuinely, i’ve had no issues. I’m having a ball on it as you can see in the videos 🤘
Shifting winds are an opportunity to learn patience or reverse starts ;-) That "cheapo" harness, do you have a link for that? Haven't been able to find anything remotely cheap, and it is honestly a bit bothersome to walk around with the full freeflight harness for groundhandling at times.
Hi. I bought the harness on Amazon over a year ago, having searched again for you it's no longer listed, but there are some similar. If my memory serves me right I paid about £30 for the one you see in the video. It has clip in points similar to the position of your swingarms on a lot of paramotors, so is useful for a quick dabble on the wing in the right configuration.
@@adamthorpe1 Thanks I will look there 👌
We should of touched tips. Great video
Cheers! This was the day you flew away…and didn’t return 😂
Dude, I love the organic shapes of the farm fields over in your country. Here in the Midwest, US, everything is so blocky and rectangular, and repetitive. Would love to fly over there in my next life, LOL. Keep up the good work! Just subbed!
Nice one John 👍 yes its a bit random over here…lazy…you could say 😂🤘
nice...iam an experienced paramotor pilot. many years and many air hours. flying is abit l;ike life ... always learning. it has its ups and downs.... flying is like being like peter pan ;0)😀 thumbs up... p.s MURPHYS LAW. ANOTHER QUOTE FROM I . LIVE AND LEARN OR LEARN AND LIVE.

Thanks Paul 👍

Brilliant video, perfectly shows the incredible journey of learning to fly. Looking at doing this as we speak 👌🏻
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Definately do it, you wont regret it. Check out my other paramotor training videos that cane next, showing my progression to passing the course entirely. I’m sure you’ll enjoy those too…and that will help you make your mind up. All the best and good luck 🤘💪

@@adamthorpe1 yeah for sure, will do 👍🏻
Good quality video! Fly safe!
Many thanks. You too 👍
Hi Adam, currently training with two flights under my belt. Can I ask how you find flying locations? Is it just a case of knocking on doors or word of mouth?
Hi Yes it's mainly just a case of sourcing a place and making an arrangement with the land owner yourself, or by joining an already established group of flyers from a particular location. If you're not flying from a club location for example, it really is just a case of finding a good place to fly from and making sure you've got permission to use it etc. Good luck with the rest of your training 👍💪
yeah last couple flights my hands were so stiff! I ended up having to come in to land to take a break and warm up a bit before going back up. I thought I'd be able to just deal with it this year but it was a bit much. Still got some flights in but cant wait for it to start warming up some more!
Me too…bring on the warmth and longer daylight hours 👍
Where did you start from? Looks great!
Andy - great set to videos. Hope to start my journey this year. Did you learn through Danny K (sure looks like him) as interested as live in CW10 area.
Hi Craig. Yes Danny was my instructor you’re correct. Definately do it, you wont regret it 👍 i sometimes fly over the CW10 area so look out for me overhead from time to time, although its very close to the edge of Manchester airspace so not often over that way. I flew over in the 43 mile video incase you’ve not seen it. Give it a go, you’ll love it 👍
That thumbnail was very cool.
Nice. One thing is for sure.. you're not short of places to land where you live.
Hi from the other side of the pond. Been watching your videos from when you 1st started. Nice videos. Keep them coming.
Hi Robert, many thanks. Glad you’ve enjoyed the videos so far 👍 and yes there are more in the pipeline…certainly once the weather improves here🤘
@@adamthorpe1 Oh yeah forgot about the weather there.... I don't fly. Can't afford it but love watching videos from everyday people. Stay safe have fun.
Your daughter (I assume) was freezing at 9:07 ..she needed a proper coat :) Great video though..My next flight will only be my 4th..just waiting on nicer weather.I dont want to fly in the cold,I wouldnt enjoy it as much.
Thanks Scuba 👍 yes my daughter ofter ignores my advice about wrapping up warm...and then complains how cold she is 🙃 to be fair is wasn't too bad that day (early spring), but always much cooler up top. I actually did my first flight of this year on the 2nd Jan which was bitterly cold, especially at 1800ft. Gloves required for that one, but there's a lot of flying to be done in winter if you can and wrap up warm. Plus...it's much less thermic generally speaking, especially here in the UK, so you can get some nice smooth flights done and the flying window is much wider since you can ofter fly pretty much through the entire day rather than reserve things for morning or evening etc. Daylight hours are very small in the winter here though so it's a bit of a trade off really...so basically my motto is to fly while I can and wrap up warm if its cold rather than turn it down. But like you I much prefer the warmer ones 😁 All the best with your upcoming flights. I faceplanted my 4th flight 🤣 I'm sure you''re doing a much better job than me🤟
How do you like your PAP? i love mine but really dont like the throttle. The kill button sticks out too far and it isnt very ergonomic with my hand. I plan on changing it out. Outherwise i have no complaints. In addition I purchased the Rolling Trike which is very nice in nil wind conditions. You dont even realize you are on a trike when flying as its only 40lbs. Great videos! You live in a great area to fly with all that grass and open fields. I live in Arizona where its rough desert terrain and cactus which makes it difficult. Im glad I found your channel. be safe!!
Hi, I'm glad you like the videos many thanks. I do like my PAP and I agree the throttle isn't the easiest to handle, although I do like the fact it's very light and simple in its design which works best for me overall. The Kill switch is always there though...staring at me...daring me to hit it! But, I've learned to live it and as you say it could be swapped for a different one if it became a real problem. Thankfully it's not caused me too many issues generally speaking, but it's very annoying when it does 😄. Happy flying and thanks again 🤟
all the tumbles make it more worth it in the end!
Oh yes, I couldn't agree more 👍
I have that opportunity tomorrow in Ohio, USA to see a daylight pass but it's supposed to rain. Being in the UK I'm sure rain has spoiled many viewing occassions
Well kinda. Important to remember the ISS goes over most days, at some point. In the uk, being a fairly northern location it shifts slightly over the course of the year where for a time it mainly favours daytime passes, and then part of the year where it mainly favours night time passes. So, if you get a rainy day, or cloudy night, you normally don’t have to wait too long for another opportunity to see it. Check out my other video where i show it passing over at dawn 🤘 and happy ISS spotting 👍😁
