I haven’t played this game in like 20 years and recently found it on iOS. My first 2 monsters(hare then tiger) made it to A rank then I did pheonix and destroyed S rank and won 4 of the badges/trophies. Pheonix is sooooo strong heat beam just nukes everyone and flame twister is so consistent for 2-3 hitting enemies.

I was 17 (jeez, my RUclips account is older than that now) when MR1 released on the PSX, a guy who I didn't actually like brought it over and it immediately hooked me and MR2 was equally fun. I was an experienced lover of numbers going up, aka an RPG nerd, so I beat the game even then and later on I wasn't ignorant of Monster Rancher Metropolis, found through GameFAQs, and its copious knowledge base and I've emulated it several times throughout the years, but it was a blast seeing everyone getting into it again and your videos have been hilarious. Thanks a ton for the high effort content!

I want to know what the purpose is in competitive Monster Rancher 2 that people lower some stats down to 1 or as low as they can get them.

Started my own Nuzlocke last night, got a Trident as my first monster, got to B rank and thought 'This seems easy enough!' after winning the pure silver tournament... Got absolutely humbled by Liquel in the official B rank and my guy died on his third birthday. RIP Derek, all I needed to do was forfeit 😭 Loving the series!

Ahh.. Monster Rancher 2, who knew there was such a scene these days? I remember me and all my neighbor friends just bringing all the CDs we had in our homes and trying to look for 'good' monsters. A friend's mom actually had a CD that had freaking Phoenix.
