These are great learning moments for having conversations in the world we live in.

(Forgive me for making sweeping generalisations, and these are just my thoughts, for what they're worth) Many of the people around that table might spend a lot of money 'breaking' with 'Fenatics', but it doesn't appear to me that they are 'captains of industry', and well-tuned with correct etiquette in general. Some might struggle in formal surroundings, are perhaps socially awkward, and find difficulty engaging with people face-to-face; add that to being 20-somethings, who would take a 'selfie' sat on the toilet, and you have the perfect storm. Absolutely not excusing those filming private and privileged information, as I 100% agree with both of you (NO 'PHONES!), I'm just trying to make sense of it all. You'd have thought that it goes without saying that they wouldn't film; but I suppose Fanatics themselves are the ones normalising filming the opening of a pack of cards, so probably aren't best placed to be telling people to turn off "turn off your 'phones, lads!". 🙂 Top stuff, gents. 👍

Fanatics Collect has the absolute worst customer service team I have ever dealt with. Lost 8 cards and it took 6 months to find them. They just don't give a shit.

most of those people on the table arent just breakers but top collectors all over asia. there was a group of collectors there who own an LCS in the philippines. that LCS, i think has partnered with fanatics to be a distributor in the phils. i know that bit of info because i know a few them personally. now, what i find funny is that the person who took the video probably doesnt understand the mvp buyback program of topps/fanatics because most asian collectors only collect basketball (outside of japan). and since 2009, panini has taken over the basketball market. so the legality about that buyback program thing might be foreign to the ears of that person videotaping the event. so he was just videotaping for fun or maybe for content. LOL.

Now they need to exploit simps for profit in the hobby space. SMH!

The simplest way to fix this is to stop buying $8,000 packs of new cards. Obviously chasing a 1/1 is fun. But it's no longer a hobby when a 10-year-old kid has to work 40 hours a week at McDonald's in order to afford a box of cards. Woodworking is a hobby. Buying expensive sports cards is investing. To be honest if I had $8,000 to drop on a couple packs of cards I would rather put it in the stock market then the scratch off lottery tickets that sports cards tend to be. I understand it's a big business but i'm a collector/hobbyist and this kind of crt scanning ticks me off. It scams everyone from kid collectors to adult investors. I've been buying cards since I was 8 years old 1972 when a pack of topps was 10 cents a pack. The thrill of opening them has never diminished from the time I pulled my first Brooks Robinson to the day I pulled a Juan Soto rookie Auto. It's still fun as hell but this certainly taints the industry in general. From the dealers to the manufacturers. Probably hurts the dealers the most. I wish they would make it so it was fun again and still hold a literally speculation of the investor type.

This has got to be one of the dumbest conversations I have ever heard in the hobby. The hobby is filled with kids, and we are trying to get families out to shows by making them family friendly, and your talking about women showing their tits in breaks. What planet are you guys on, never happening. Poker been around for awhile, have to 21 in most states to gamble, you don't see poker tournaments having nude dealers or poker sites having graphic content, just stupid concept overall and pointless to talk about.
