Lower Body Exercises For A Dialysis Patient
Sir,how many months you were on dialysis?, & what was your water intake during dialysis ?i am ckd 5 patient
People on dialysis she'll be cautious of the fluid intake you're so very heavy they also eat ice chips instead of water
This guy is really helpful
Hi, I just watch one of your videos, it was very informative to me. I am going on dialysis in a few months. I hope you are well.
How many differentypes of cyclers are there? And are they all available in Canada?
Im not sure if the pd im doing is enough. Im still sick .ost every morning and wake up with my head spinning and a queazy stomach. I do 3 x 3000ml exchanges every night.
I would check your BP in the morning and report those readings to your PD nurse. higher or lower BP can exhibit that type of symptoms. It’s possible to have high BP if you are still retaining fluids. It’s possible to have low BP if you are taking too much out during treatment leaving you a bit dehydrated. your PD nurse can help adjust your treatment prescription if necessary
@@KidneyJourneys great advice. Much appreciation
Why are long dwells necessary for some people how can I not use a long dwell I want to get out of using icodextrin😅
My apologies in the delay in this response. This is a discussion you should have with your nephrologist or PD nurse on the reason they prescribed it as part of your treatment. Some patients may not want longer dwell times at night or may not have sufficient residual kidney function and need additional dialysis where typically the icodextrin / extraneal solution may be prescribed. Some also are prescribed this solution for PD if it may help they manage their blood glucose levels since it's a starch based solution and not dextrose based.
Why haven't you posted anything lately. Hopefully everything is fine. Great video
Been busy living life safter transplant and working unfortunately so not a lot of time with RUclips content development. Will try to develop more content as time allows from work. Thank you for watching the videos and hopefully they have been helpful in your person #KidneyJourneys :)
The tegaderm will fall off I tried. Do the colostomy bags and wear a one piece or you can wear a bikini and some male swimming shorts as high waisted if you trying to be cute ❤
I would say that looking "cute" and dealing with body dysmorphia which may come along with chronic illness are not always an easy balance. I tend to advocate on the safety and minizine infection risks as priority personally.
Thank you
Thank you for your information, my niece just told me she will start Dialysis TX soon. I was able to understand how you explained this value info. God Blees you Sir.
Glad to hear the videos have been helpful in your learnings. Exacting my mission when I first started to develop content when there were not as much out there. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice.i am adialysis patient as well
I’m on dialisys 5 years now and I’m a truck driver and doing home hemodialysis, I stick the needles myself
That is great to hear you have been able to stay working and willing to share your experiences. Thank you for watching the videos and commenting.
Thanks so much. Just started on the cycles a month ago, going ok. Hoping to make it back to Europe and this gives me confidence
Happy to hear. Hope that you do get to head back to Europe soon. I love it out there as well.
When I was doing dialysis, I worked 40+ hours per week. After the dialysis, I rested for about 40 minutes, then I drove to work. At the time, I drove with one hand while holding the needles wounds with the other hand. Once in a while, I goofed and my blood got all over my car while I was driving on the freeway.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and watching the videos. Do be safe out there and keep taking good care of yourself.
How about to places like Hollywood studios
Sorry for the delay in responding, somehow missed your comment 3 weeks ago. Can you clarify what about Hollywood studios. On PD, just be aware of extreme rides with safe waist handles that may impact your catheter. Other than that, folks may do their PD treatments in the hotel at night or bring manual solutions and plan to visit the medical center to do their manual exchanges while they are within the parks.
Please i need your WhatsApp number
Hemo patient for 13 years here. Thank you for your video
Thank you so much
Thanks
i was never tired after in center hemodialysis. But I followed the diet perfectly, kept my fluid intake at 32 ozs or less per day and I kept my weight below the dry weight the Dr gave me. That way the techs could not pull fluid off me. Also I kept my bood pressure under control. Because I kept my diet under control, and met the blood test goals every month, I was able to do well on just 2 1/2 hours of treatment. I have seen people in centers eating bags of chips and drinking soda and then wondering why they have to have 4 hours of treatment and then feel bad!!!
i was on dialysis for 3 years - worked the entire time. 40 hour work week. Never missed a treatment, never went off the machne early, always met the goals every month on the blood tests. Followed the diet perfectly. Kept my fluid intake at 32 ozs or less per day - kept a notebook and recorded my fluid intake every day. Got my kidney from a deceased donor and the new kidney worked perfectly from the moment it was put in. I was 69 yrs old when I got my kidney. I signed up for an 85% kidney - meaning I would accept a kidney rated at 85% or more. My deceased donor was 62 yrs old. My dialysis nurse told my transplant center that if anybody deserved a kidney it was me - so how you handle your dialysis affects how the transplant center looks at you as a recipient. I will be 71 in 2024. I walk 30 blocks a day, keep my weight down and eat a healthy diet. Still working hard to take very good care of my new kidney - in honor of my blessed donor.
Agree with your dialysis nurse that you are one of the model patients. Great to hear that you were able to receive a transplant and still doing well
@@KidneyJourneysjust curious do you ever got a transplant ?
@@Mrwinecontreras Yes, my first deceased donor transplant was back in December, 2019 and that has since failed and in the process to be re-listed to be a new recipient candidate for another donor. In the meantime, I'm currently back on dialysis.
Taking shower is ok ?
Yes. I would say to still use some ExSept on the exit site afterward though.
Yes. But make sure you clean the tub well and soak the shower head and faucet in bleach for 5 minutes every week. Currently: Can also do private chlorine pool and salt water pool. Public pools are not suggested due to the amount of bacteria from other people. You can swim in the ocean or a saltwater pool. Generally private pools is preferred. You can use a little bag like an colostomy bag as they have an adhesive that makes it water proof.
My friend on dyalisis for 6 years and he is thinking of PD . Is transplant better or PD?
I guess it depends on the person. With PD you have to do treatment everyday (most people) for the rest of their life or until they get a transplant. Transplant will require taking 3 or 4 anti-rejection meds, everyday, for the rest of the patients life. Missing the meds, even once, could make the new kidney be rejected. Transplant offers more freedom of movement. You can go anywhere in the world without having to take a dialysis machine and solution bags. I for example want to take a cruise but the country where the cruise leaves from doesn't allow imports during January - March, which is when the cruise starts, so I can't have my solution imported by Baxter and it would be too much for me to put it on a plane and handle it myself.
Hello from rainy foggy oregon, Currently on p d dialysis.. At home is much better and the only problem is I don't want to live in u. S I want to get back to asia, Likely Thailand Vietnam. Possibly philippines.. I would likely be there more than four months and last time was a year.. So I'm in the dilemma to figure out whether to pay expensive shipping from Baxter or. Find the asian supplier. Does anyone have experience in Asian dialysis? I stress p don't need a clinic. I don't need doctors. I'm very healthy otherwise. This is not hemodialysis. Any advice much appreciated thank you🙏😇🙏
Usually in Asian countries many have to self pay for their PD supplies and they often do not use cyclers. But supplies still tend to require a prescription to purchase beyond the government allowances. These timeframes would be too long for regular travel orders and expensive to ship. U.S. clinics also need to collect monthly labs and quarterly clearance labs to ensure your treatments are keeping you health enough with medical documented data.
@@KyleChangEvents hey thanks for your reply and info.. I have zero support here in Oregon and could do better in every way with my old lifestyle in Asia the issue is getting set up and simply getting a hold of the basic supplies to do manual p.d Years ago I was in the beginning of the kidney disease and I had a nephrologist
I wanted to sell my kidney anyone interested let me know
Abd physicians are dishonest and don't tell you. They have become salesmen..
In 2017, I was told I had "irreversible" stage 5 kidney failure. Did peritoneal dialysis at home at night while I slept. I worked full time during the entire time. Had my bad days, but had many more great days. Dialysis isn't the end of life, it's not easy but it's definitely possible. Side note, between keeping a positive attitude, changing to a very healthy strict diet, by the end of 2021, I was taken off dialysis for being too healthy to continue treatment.
Thanks for sharing and watching the vlog !!! Were your doctors able to attribute the initial failure to any other health issues as reversals tend to be normally for folks in more acute kidney failure due to other health ailments. How long were you on PD / Dialysis in total???
@@KidneyJourneys The following is a direct copy from my medical file. kidney biopsy on 09/14/2017 that showed according to Nephrology note: malignant nephrosclerosis with extensive/severe fibrosis, atrophic tubules, and global glomerulosclerosis from severe hypertension. Renal US also showed increased echogenicity that suggest CKD in addition to Complex right renal cyst. Nephrology assessed his kidneys injury as “irreversible”. Oct 4th take off dialysis Nov 4th confirmed no longer needed dialysis. Nov 7th, got a call they were testing a potential match. Spent 4 years on PD.
Must be existing and somewhat nervous. I'm 8 years in dialysis, waiting for the call.
Do you have a fistula? You look great! Nice to see healthy looking dialysis patients. Im at 16% functioning, and will have to start in about a year most likely.
I’ve been on hemodialysis for nearly 21 years now! It used to make me tired but not it causes insomnia because I start it in the evenings!
Nocturnal in center hemodialysis run at a slower BFR and less taxing on your body, but typically not available as a treatment modality for most patients in the U.S. and we finally on path to offer and speak about different modalities options as option here again,
@@KidneyJourneys Right now I’m okay with my schedule! My husband does my needles in center! My goal is to eventually do NxStage and travel! And I forgot that my kidneys originally failed in November 1979! My diagnosis was Glomerulonephritis of Unknown Origin! I had gone into Congestive Heart Failure at age 7!
I take it scuba diving is out of the question? If I'm not mistaken your PD site is just a hole through the skin and that's it and you rely on waterproof tape to seal the site to the water. I have a better idea that will seal the site to the pressure caused by depth and thus permit scuba diving for us. This stuff should have been developed when PD first became available decades ago. The medical profession is sleeping on the job.
Not necessarily, completely for all PD patients. When in ocean water and diving suit, there are ways to help minimize risks with protective coverings if exit site has been deemed to have healed long enough by your own PD nurse and / or nephrologist 😜
I still produce urine and I live in a hot and arid area (Mesa AZ). I attribute my exhaustion much on dehydration after dialysis. I drink as much water as I need to and I dont retain much as long as I watch my salt intake. Listen to your body. If you are thirsty, drink. But watch your salt intake. I drink water. I used to put lemon in it, but I retained fluid from doing that. So I stopped doing that. I just drink plain water. I also drink a cup of coffee a day. Its a diuretic, so I get rid of most of it.
This was reallly really helpful! This is my fourth night on my PD cycler!
I just started pd as well. I'm still sick every morning but it's getting better for me. God bless you on your journey
I have 7 years daughter she is on CAPD. Now she has 35% e/f. She needs more and more u/f. So can I use 2.3 solution bags continuously for more u/f. Will it not damage the peritoneal membrane?
Hi, if you’re adding a heparin to your pd bag. Are you adding it to your 1st or 2nd bag?
Thank you for this channel! I just saw it for the first time today and am extremely happy that you've chosen to help folks in this way.
I am stage 4, not there yet but will soon be. Thank you for helping me wrap my mind around all of this
Hope you are staying healthy and doing well still 🥰🥰

Thank you so much for all the helpful information
Very informative video, thank you.
Wat does system error2240 mean
I make diálise for 4 years and after I feel so tired to.
Sorry to hear. If only fatigued after dialysis, it may be due to the machine running too fast or removing too much fluids too quickly. Is this in center hemo or home hemo? What is your BFR (blood flow rate) set to?? Other fatigue for dialysis patients may be due to other health issues, nutrition, anemia, low protein as possibility to look into with your care team and nephrologist
Im only 46 n 5 weeks on hemo 3 x a week. Now thinking if i should do pd.
My daughter likes PD so much better than hemo. More freedom, don't feel as crappy
I'm 41 and have been on PD for a little more than four month. Doing demo would really suck for me because of the needles. I've been told you get use to it but still. PD really is better. Yes, you have to do it everyday (most people) but it gentler on the body and can be done overnight.
After Dialysis drink electrolytes, they are depleted when you get it. You will feel more energetic afterwards.
Thank you for you comment. However, folks should be advised to check with their own nephrologist or care team as excess electrolytes or fluids may also harm some dialysis patients more than help when on dialysis and kidney failure. It is better recommended to work with their own care team to ensure the right balance of removal is achieved through their own treatments prescriptions to minimize (or avoid) fatigue after each dialysis treatment.
What drinks are the source of electrolytes?
I wanted to know where did you purchase your carry on bag from
Thanks for watching and your comments. My travel bag was obtained from a local TJ Max retail store
Thank you for your helpful information and take care brother
If I only knew then what I know now about keeping my phosphorus down. Even after removing a couple parathyroid glands my phosphorus shot back up within a few months. Now I have developed Kyrles disease and my skin is horrible. I'll never have the confidence to get naked again. Like ever it's so bad.
Hey may I ask what you know that will keep it down
@@feliciamorton4151 although everyone is different it's all in your diet and always taking your blockers. Educate yourself on what foods are high in phosphorus. It's in dam near everything. Dairy, nuts, cola, chocolate, make up the most dangerous.
I am new to Hemo Dialysis and have found your topics on ckd / dalialysis very helpful. My problem is getting the right amount of sleep. My Nephrologist prescribrd Quetiapine tablets. They work but make me feel very sluggish and weak in the morning. I have no choice but to endure all this until hopefully I get to sleep naturally. All the Best to you. Thank you very much. I am just 25 yrs old and on haemodialysis. What can be done to improve my blood pressure?
Sorry that you are having to perform dialysis at an early age. I would recommend you consult with your nephrologist. (kidney doctor) regarding your concerns with your blood pressure. It's often treated with medication and fluid management. There may be other health concerns that causes your blood pressure issues as well. For them to help you look into. . Thank you for reaching out and watching my videos.
