UKR. The war is lost, Russia is advancing not just steadily but with increasing momentum. As for the shit-for-brains commentator and wacky general condoning missile attacks into Russia, which requires USA and NATO technology and expertise: first of all it would be ineffective nor are there sufficient numbers of weaponry. It is a proxy war, Ukraine is a vassal, they need to do as told or risk money & weaponry being cut-off. Ostensibly, USA leadership (or lack thereof, considering the president is non-compos mentis) doesn't want WW3 or to involve NATO in direct confrontation with Russia. The "Ukraine army I know.," comment is not just fanciful but amusing in its low rent arrogance. As for the Ukraine army: this is its third or fourth iterations: the first two being eviscerated. The mere existence of 40 year old conscripts is an indicator. As for Kursk, the UKR troops are soon to be cut-off and they can surrender, be captured or die. It's an Ukraine Dien Bien Phu. You two clowns sound like a cheering section for the Ukraine. The sum of your posits and analysis is delusional.

Pretty impressive to have achieved a near 0% success rate in terms of predictions vs outcomes on the ground, even exceeding what you would anticipate from random variation within probability theory. The only situation where that is even possible is if there is an extreme bias, rather than any form of analysis. Still, it’s always fun to hear the fictional narratives.

How can anybody support a country, that has made former nazi collaborators & butchers into national hero's, having new monument created for them in main city squares, rehabilitating organisations like UPA, which was directly involved in Massacres of Poles in Volhyni, the Babi Yar massacre or just google lviv pogroms in 1941 (when the Germans took control of the city). The sadistic nature of Ukrainian nationalist shocked even the Germans and were recruited for the dirty work. Justin Trudeau and the standing ovation to a nazi was not a mistake and nobody is able to see it and call it out from the western allied countries that helped defeat nazis and liberate death camps. 27 Million of Soviet people died in the WW2, is Russia not allowed to have its security concerns over Ukraine, most of the invasions came through those lands, what is so hard to understand here? Americans dropped nukes on defenceless civilians, while winning and having no real threats to American mainland and these clowns have no moral right to criticise Russia and the way its conduction operations on the ground.

I can see the future, let me... let me take a look into 2030-s... Ukraine is a small country with 2 villages somewhere in Carpathian mountains, the rest is Russia. West crumbles economically and resorts to a full scale war as the last ditch effort to escape trillions of debt. One by one US allies switch sides or take neutral stance. By the end of first year of full scale WW3, most industrial military complex companies just steal funds never delivering any ammo, troops desert in large numbers because the government is too afraid to do rotations, preferring to keep unhappy soldiers overseas, further away from Washington. With large scale sabotage all over the country, food shortages sweep through the US and riots begin. Peace is signed, Russia puts military bases along US coast, Russian soldiers distribute buckwheat and solyanka soup to locals to soften a humanitarian crisis. West eventually lost, becoming one large trailer park living off food stamps. Decades later you leave refugee camp to visit your old house and find a screenshot of a RUclips comment from September 2024 on your old phone that predicted it all. Curtains close.

Ukraine have won in a sense that it has survived, but it fights defensive battle against the numerically, institutionally and industrially superior opponent, managing to bring its advancement to a crawl. However, you do not win a war by defending only, nor Ukraine is going to. Clear goal is to survive until Putin dies from natural causes and whomever comes to Russia next loses interest in the war.

I give this war another 6-18 months. Six months because both sides are gambling and it will take that long to see if their respective gambits pay off. The Ukrainian gamble is that they can inflict enough damage on critical Russian assets and capabilities while demonstrating to the Russians that they can endure the long haul and thus be able to negotiate from a favorable position. They still won't regain their 1991 borders, that's impossible at this point and we need to recognize that. The Russian Gamble is that their strategic bombing campaign of Ukrainian Energy and Water infrastructure succeeds in essentially crippling the Ukrainian Economy and results in mass desertions as soldiers seek to safeguard their families and possibly flee west with them allowing the Russians to seize those parts of Ukraine they want and essentially destroy Ukraine as a state. I say the war can't last longer than 18 months because that is both sides limit of equipment and manpower. Ukraine is unwilling to destroy her own future by drafting those under 25 and her hitherto manpower losses have been severe. Another 18 months of that is all Ukraine can really manage without seriously jeopardizing the nation's future. Likewise the Russians are at the limit of the manpower available to them by throwing money at the populace for them to sign contracts and thus will find recruitment of replacement manpower in the future with volunteers difficult and the Kremlin has shown great reluctance in jeopardizing regime survival with additional mobilization and are likely to sue for peace rather than mobilize another 300,000. Ukraine and Russia also will both face a severe equipment crunch in the future as neither have the productive capacity to replace losses and have been making up the difference with foreign donations and pulling from storage respectively. Much has been published recently about Russia's diminishing stockpile of Soviet equipment and that is likely a hard limit on Russia's willingness to continue the war as they are unlikely to risk fully depleting their arsenal to the point it'll take decades to replace their inventory. Likewise Ukraine is only able to stay in the fight because of foreign donations of heavy weapons, but the West doesn't have much more to spare as Western Europe scrapped most of its Cold War legacy hardware and is unwilling to deplete their conventional deterrence against Moscow further lest Ukraine still lose and suddenly there's not a tank, SPG, or IFV between the Russians and Paris(an exaggeration to be sure but the point stands). Meanwhile the Americans are hesitant to send more heavy weapons because the Pentagon feels they need that stockpile in case of contingencies in Korea, Taiwan, or the Persian Gulf and needs those thousands of Bradleys, Abrams and Paladins to act as deterrence against China, Iran, and North Korea. In short we are entering the endgame of this war and it should be clear over the next six months whether the war ends in an uti possiditis armistice in 2026, or one side manages to claw out a hollow victory in 2025.

Given the shortage of skilled labor in the shipbuilding industry, perhaps Congress should fund a vocational shipbuilding school and make it FREE for Navy, Coast Guard and Marine personnel (or maybe for all US military personnel) -- nearing the end of their service term. Shipbuilders are well paid. (A cursory Google search suggests they make something like $65K to $150K depending on seniority, position level, skill type, location, and performance.) Thus it shouldn't be hard to attract students from a pool of outgoing military personnel who would otherwise be entering the civilian world with no prospect for a lucrative job. Moreover, a free shipbuilding school would likely pay for itself by way of lower costs for the US to get its ships built and repaired in a timely manner.

I'm kind of surprised that none of you mentioned the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, which seems like an obvious target.

The Kursk Incursion is definitely a game changer. Even Russians started drawing borders of Ukrainian control in Kursk on their daily update map.
