I have experienced it, as well. I still have nightmares, and PTSD from it. Things are going much better for me now thanks to help from a few key people. Now I am saving and investing as much as I can. With a little luck, I will retire to Bali, Philippines, or Thailand in about 10 years to live out the rest of my years in peace and comfort. If my investments do really well, maybe I can stay here in the states. Poverty sucks.

I tend to be impressed with the old sailing ships. They were an exercise in team-work, or social organization. Anyway, you have an interesting perspective. YECs tend to impress me as a flat-earth approach to theism. It's definitely an in-group, death cult side of theism. And they tend to adamantly disparage any external thinking. The conservative side of it tends to try to preserve an older, simpler order where they could make the decrees without having to be questioned.

Happy Canada Day!! Americans know we have shortfalls and flaws, we also know that we have corporate interference in our government, we know we have rampant corruption, racism and misogyny. Unfortunately, our government runs on complicity with that corporate corruption and are themselves corrupt, they make the laws that protect their income streams and their corruption. They also draw the lines we use to vote. Republicans have not won 'the popular vote' ever in my memory. Our voting system ignores the will of the people and is designed to keep the corrupt in office. I find science exciting. I find observable science beautiful. I find no evidence that any of the plethora of Gods exist at all, more likely a control mechanism used by the wealthy to control the workers. New discoveries every day in every field of science, what could be better?

I think the prevalence and history of the idea of god may be the result of a collective intuitive understanding that life goes on after we die. The idea of god can never be erased since we contain this intuitive understanding and man forever tries to articulate this unconscious knowing in the form of art, religion, and mysticism. Since there are currently limits to our empirical understanding if a person has a spiritual experience untranslatable to the rest of the world and this experience seems more "real" then the real to this person, should that person then disregard the experiences spiritual implications because their occurrence lacks logical reason? Ideally Science would bring us truth about the world and Ideally a spiritual experience would not be a hallucination and also bring truth about the world. What if the evidence of god exists but by virtue of its spiritual nature is only felt through personal subjective experience?

I'll answer your question of what evidence I provide for the existence of God when you can tell me why are you so fat, unkempt, and lacking in all grace?

I think if we were to steel-man the idea that some atheists are mad at God, it wouldn't be that they're all lying and consciously believe he exists and just hate him (though some christians do present this silly argument); rather, the idea, it seems to me, is that even if one thinks God isn't real, their negative regard for His character can have certain entailments, including the potential unwillingness to give it a true chance. If one doesn't think God is love and the source of all good things etc, but a tyrant etc, then even if He did exist beyond a doubt he wouldn't be obedient to Him. So the idea is that it's fundamentally a problem of the heart.
