    The info about transplanting corn is incorrect. Some ppl in the desert need to start early and transplant before its too hot. Also. Native Corn isn't just used for popping lol where do you think tortillas come from? Arripas, pupusas, tortillas, tamales, atole, and anything else Mexico uses masa for. Corn is originally from Mexico. Flint corn is a grinding corn used for these things.

    Hi we have never used Mushroom Compost before. All our Flowers and Plants are in Pots..One can grow Fruit and Veg by mixing Compost and Mushroom Compost together i hope. . Mushroom Compost i have read you can use as a Top Dresser. Would x 70 to 30% Mix for Pots be right? In the front of our House we only plant Sunflowers in the Ground it really is Heavy Clay. We were thinking of mixing Peat Free Compost and Mushroom Compost together to amend the very hard Clay. What do you Guys think x New to your Vlogs Love from a Wife. • @jasondaniels205
      @jasondaniels205 3 года назад

      Light can only penetrate the top part of soil. You need to lightly cover the seeds making sure not to bury them too deep or compact the soil. Otherwise light will not penetrate the soil and germination will not take place.

    This is super helpful and exactly what i needed, thank you! I ordered half a tonne of mushroom compost because it was cheap and the website claimed it was perfect for growing. Then I started reading a million different articles about be able or not able to use for vegetables. My soil here in the UK is absolutely pants in my area, nothing will grow without compost (except everyones favorite; bindweed). My plan is to dig up over a foot of the soil in the veg patch, filter out the millions of rocks and chalk, probably do a 50/50 mix of compost and soil then refill. Let it settle for a couple weeks and start planting. I'm still growing in pots and bags with store bought compost, this is really to get the veg patch perfect for next year. Really looking forward to playing around with ratios of this stuff to see what works best but this video definitely cleared up my questions. Goodluck with Corona and stay safe!

    Would it be a mistake to fill raised beds entirely with mushroom soil?

    • @git_t0v
      @git_t0v 4 года назад

      The only issues I can see happening with that is: 1) That could add up quick at the store depending on the size of your growing area. I would recommend about a 2-3 inch layer of compost over your growing ground when you're not growing anything yet to prepare bed. 2) Compost drains water quickly. It could be a mistake to think of mushroom compost as the sole growing medium. Sow your seeds into the ground, wait for them to sprout up and side dress with compost. Over winter and early spring, I scratch the growing ground up with a metal rake and broadcast a multi species cover crop mixture and then lay a thin layer of compost(1-2") over the seeds. This is done to prepare the bed for the kitchen garden.

    • @shannontaylor5995
      @shannontaylor5995 4 года назад

      Yes- the mushroom soil would be too much nutrient on its own. You can blend it into regular dirt/topsoil, or add a 2 inch layer of it to mulch your garden
