    Kong coolers are the best coolers on the market right now imho. The company that makes Kong used to be the roto mold for yeti before they were outsourced to China, so of course they know how to make a cooler…and better. The thing that sets these Kong coolers apart from other coolers, is the accessories. They can meet the demand for fishing, camping, hunting, and pretty much any outdoor enthusiast.

    If you only have one or two boards to move, put a strip of wide blue tape on the floor and them put ca glue on that, then put a 2x4 on top of that. give it a few seconds for the Ca glue to dry and hammerer on the wood to move the flooring. Use a putty knife to carefully peel up the board and tape when done. Depending on the flooring, you may be able to move the entire row of boards by starting with the back board.

      That is a great idea, I’m going to give that a try , the suction cup does slide on the board some, so not all the energy transfers. Sounds like your way would be more effective in a lot of situations.

    that's not a fair comparison, there is a lot of air gaps on the yeti because of the difference in size between coolers, fair comparison would be 35 vs 35 quart. but anyway, feel free to buy what ever makes you feel better.

    • @JoeRevis
      @JoeRevis 2 года назад

      I explain in the video the difference in size is not as it appears, Yeti exaggerates their size where Kong is a true Qt measurement. The video breaks down several factors that people can consider other than ice retention. The ice retention is so good in both coolers, that will not be the determining factor for most people. I used the coolers I had available that were the closest in size. I would love to repeat the ice test with the Yeti and the Kong 50 and see how much size makes a difference. Thank you for your comment.

    • @ivangonzalezbernes8477
      @ivangonzalezbernes8477 2 года назад

      @@JoeRevis I'm just saying, fair test would've been both coolers toped with ice for avoiding air gaps. with roto molded usually size doesn't matter because most of them have very similar construction design, there is a reason you did ice retention challenge, because it does matter, video was more for advertising kong coolers, and for what I see they are not bad at all price wise and for ice retention, but again i believe test could've been better.

      That technically wouldn’t be fair either since the yeti 35 is smaller than a 35qt. Don’t get attached to yeti numbers, they don’t mean as much as you think. It’s mostly just to trick people into thinking they’re buying a bigger cooler than they are.

      I agree! Cordova Coolers are nice too, and also made in the USA. I was going to buy Pelican before I stumbled on to the Kong Coolers. I am very Happy with Kong. I owned 1 Yeti, but it really irritates me when company’s move production out of the states for greed, Traeger did the same thing with the grills, used to be made in the states and then when they started getting more popular they moved production to China. Then they keep the prices high. Lamiglas fishing rods same thing!

  • @badkid73
    @badkid73 3 года назад

    This is not a fair comparison, as you need to compare the exact same size coolers. Despite his calculations, there is clearly more dead space in the Yeti which means the Yeti is cooling more surface area. The ice rention test delivers as expected for evenly matched construction quality. The Kong SHOULD keep ice longer. And the Kong weighs 3 pounds more even though it is a lower volume cooler likely due to extra build features. They are both outstanding coolers. They both leak when tipped. I would have chosen the Kong over my Otterbox Venture if the Kong were more leak-proof on a tip test. I believe this has to do with the design of the lid hinge which does not allow for compression/sealing of the gasket at the hinge side.

    If your closing a gap towards the wall you are creating a new gap in the middle

    • @JoeRevis
      @JoeRevis 3 года назад

      When more than one plank is involved, you have work each plank over. Move the first plank where you want it, stand on it and tap the second over until it clicks into the first, and repeat the process until you have moved the entire row of planks. Sometimes putting thicker baseboard molding down is a good option if the floor was cut short on the install. In my case the planks have just shifted slightly and created a small gap that can be remedied with this method. Thank you for watching and commenting on the video👍🏻

      We have a 50 and yes it can be heavy for one person. I looked at the cruiser but ultimately I did not like the fact it’s taller and thinner. I really did not want wheels affixed permanently even-though they would occasionally be useful. The regular Kong 50 is more versatile and can easily be transported with a cheap luggage cart if need be.

    Great review and I am considering one. I think for the average person even the "worst" performing roto cooler will satisfy the average consumer. Most folks don't need 5,7,10 days of ice retention. I think that is evident with the popularity of the smaller coolers. I think it comes down to buying something you are confident will last you forever, strong warranty, and price you are comfortable paying.

    • @JoeRevis
      @JoeRevis 3 года назад

      I agree with you, the average person doesn’t need that much ice retention, and if ice lasts one day longer, it’s really not a big deal. However it is an area where we can compare coolers with each other. If a person buys the cooler that they personally like best, they will be happy with it! I was going to buy a Yeti when I discovered that there was a cooler manufacturer only 10 miles from my house, that was Kong, so I bought that cooler, and I love them!

    What do you use this cooler for? It seems small, I have a 50 ozark but looking for another cooler and can’t decide between the 25 or the 50

    • @JoeRevis
      @JoeRevis 4 года назад

      I use the 25 for day or overnight trips mainly.I bought a house I’m remodeling 2 hours from where I live, so will put frozen food in it and bring it from one house to the other. Another thing I use it for is to keep hot things hot. If i need to keep a dish hot to bring to a party or dinner at someone else’s house. My daughter has a 25 also and uses it for Uber eats and door dash. She does food deliveries. Kong has a 20 now, that is a little narrower and taller with a shoulder strap. It can hold wine bottles and 2 liter bottles upright. So that may be one to consider if you are looking for a smaller cooler. My suggestion would be to look at the measurements of the 70, 50, 25, 20. And pick based on how much area you want to take up in your vehicle. If room is not limited I would suggest getting the 70. King also makes a cruiser 50. It is on wheels and is great for wheeling around. It is very heavy though, weighing 50lbs empty. It is extremely durable and well made, thus the weight. It is also a different shape than the kong50. 20 weighs 15lbs and holds 20 pounds of ice 25 weighs 23lbs and holds 30 pounds of ice 50 weighs 33lbs and holds 60 pounds of ice 70 weighs 38lbs and holds 80 pounds of ice I hope this is helpful! Please ask if you have any more questions!

      Thanks so much for your response! We use the Ozark 50 on boat trips, fishing and to store drinks and food but the ozark actually doesn’t retain ice as well as we thought it would, and my husband has wanted a Kong but got the ozark, so I’m wondering if a whole Ice bag fits inside the 25, usually it’s just us 2 on the boat and we take up to 20 drinks at a time with a couple snacks but the ozark just feels huge for 2 people for leisure trips. So I thought maybe something smaller where we could take to the beach as well.. so in your opinion because you have both sizes, do you think it’s a good investment to buy the 25, or just go ahead and get the 50 even though we already have one? I want to get it for him for Christmas so just stuck between choices

    So ive done ton of on hands and online research.Personally i dont need a cooler that goes 7 days ish.But i will say that most of the roto coolers do a great job.Of course price comes into play at some point.So for me i picked the best i can afford with the overall best features.Kong wins hands down.I got the baby 25 and the 50qt recently.All the extras you can use can swap between the 2 coolers--cutting boards -kicker-bottle opener.But as well as one of the top rated for ice retention,Kong wins for me because of 2 things.The latches are epic(not plastic pull down) easy to use and seal great.The handles are perfect to carry -Not rope handles that swing/sway when you carry.Not hating on the YETI because they started this industry( i think??)But you have to make your choice and be happy.Kong for the money is my winner.Just be happy!FYI All roto coolers work best when you pre-chill for atleast 24hrs.Peace!!!

    Why are these significantly heavier than comparable coolers? Only thing turning me off from this one is how heavy it is. An Engel 50 is only 23 lbs while I believe this one is around 33lbs? That’s crazy for unloaded. This cooler would probably get to around 80-100 pounds fully loaded

      The insulation and they have to be to be so durable. There is a reason an Coleman, etc are so light. If you don't beat up your stuff or need more than 1-2 days of ice retention, you are just fine without a rotomolded cooler. With that said, I own a Orca, Grizzly, and Yeti. I may get rid of two to buy a roto with wheels.

      Just a suggested from a potential Kong buyer. Plan your set ups. If your going to be putting it somewhere for transportation load the ice after you placed it in a vehicle, cart or boat. I see people loading this way at the gas station all the time! You can also keep your ice in heavy duty large freezer bags. When you get to your destination you can temporarily remove the weight of the ice and place it back in after you set it in your favorite spot. Draining off water out of the cooler doesn’t affect much of the ice retention properties. Walmart sells a 16.00 siphon pump . Easier than the bottom drain.

I cut the audio because of the language and also so people couldn’t complain about their voice being on it. I’m not sure why FB deleted it, but did not want it deleted from RUclips, so I took no chances.

      @@JoeRevis...oh, okay...I understand. I did find another one with good quality and the full meal deal after I posted that reply. The reason I found these is because I searched as like you said...the fakebook video got censored...probably because it was on a "commercial" fishing web page if I recollect...a sports fishing commercial webpage and this was caused by a fishing guide's negligence. Just follow the money...

    Great review. I’m getting a Kong. Does the color really make much of a difference when it comes to the ice retention?

      I have not done a color test, I do want to do one though! I did see a cooler review before where they tested two of the same cooler and saw a slight difference. I would imagine in direct sunlight it would be more noticeable.
