This weekend I played around with Unreal's Niagara Fluids. 🔥 It was relatively quick to set up and very fun to play with. This is the first time I tried to use custom color and normals on a custom Metahuman face (taken from the free scan on 3D Scan Store). There is lots of room for improvement. When I created the 3 'expression' color/normal-wrinkle maps, I should have exaggerated the wrinkles much further than what I ended up doing. so much useful info, I'm trying to do a full body customization in Houdini, including face, groom, cloth, body, your video helped me a lot.

Wait, is the point of the vface in the workflow to add details to the deformations? Does the metahuman not have deformation for its detail maps?

Is Maya the only way to achieve this result? I think that Chris Jones did this in Blender.
The Metapipe plugin is Maya only. But I've seen other people use other software.

Awesome tutorial! How did you deal with the need for manifold geometry for using the topotransfer?
When you export the mesh using Mesh Morpher, make sure to export with mesh with fused points. TopoTransfer should work fine with that geo.
Ahh, I see! That’s interesting. Do you have any recommendations for people without mesh morpher?

hey man this is great. So i have a custom metahuman with merged face and body. When i did the merging i lost that texture blending. Any idea how i cant get them to work again?

Hey Joe, when I try follow the PointDeform for eye parts and the Saliva, it does not work that well. It does move a bit, but wont deform like for you. Any idea why please ? (12:00 for example )
Very hard to answer that without seeing your setup.
@@JoeRaasch I have almost 1:1 setup to your in the video honestly. My custom mesh eyes and saliva are pretty similar in shape to your wukong. I tried follow your tutorial and redo my whole setup from the beginning as I though I might just did mistake somewhere, but it still does the same :( I dont know if I can share somehow maybe the Houdini file ? I am using the apprentice version so not sure if thats possible to share. :(
Hey Joe, any chance to record your workflow for Houdini TopoTransfer with Metapipe in Maya ? I tried follow this tutorial, exported .obj of my MH mesh with topo applied to it, but getting errors with metapipe that the mesh does not have same symmetry :( idk what to do

I do not. I don't think Epic lets you do that.

For those who DON'T wanna delve into Houdini, here's the solution: Enable the motion blur EVERYWHERE (camera, project settings, post proccess to *1.0*) When rendering in Anti-Al. set the Spartial to 16 and temporal to 1, Override; change from Temporal to MSAA method. ENJOY!
To properly re-create film-like motion blur, the shutter should be set to 1/48th of a second. Setting the shutter to be constantly open will make your motion blur too long.
@@JoeRaasch I checked the final result - I'm fine with it. Your approach is good, but when I need to render 100 charachters in a short period of time - Houdini is not an option, cause it simply requires a bunch of time

@@JoeRaasch Great stuff, i really appreciate you sharing this process for free. Regarding metapipe, in the next days/weeks there should be a similar tool being released for free for Maya. Hopefully it's not as convoluted to use.
If you can, let me know when it's released, I'd love to test it out. While Metapipe is convoluted, it works! Hopefully the dev improves it in the coming days and weeks.
