Interestingly the toroidal transformer is not shielded on the Yamaha. These are both Beautiful Amps. I was offered the Yamaha and its pre for $14.5K AUD (heavily discounted) after buying some Yamaha NS5000 speakers. I didn't go for it for two reasons. The faux Retro looks of the Yamaha (I'm 56 and have no desire to be transported back to 1988) and my Plan was always to buy another ONKYO M5000R and run them BTL (Now done). That solved my problem for under $4K. It serves my requirements, and I have over 200000 uf of capacitance. The Luxman M-10x is probably the big Banana but really: "do you really need a class A Amp?". Suddenly there's an option ten times more expensive than the one I'm happy with. Back to the class A/B shootout: In this comparison I think the telling thing is look at both AMPs with the top cover off. It's the Accuphase by a mile. Seriously in blind sonic testing I'm convinced statistically that these AMPS are indistinguishable.

Heard the NS3000 at the Yamaha showroom driven by yamaha amp. Sounded so so only. But then again, i suspect its the amp. Heard the NS5000 driven by Yamaha amp also so so. Until i heard the NS5000 driven by other amp like passlab & soolution. Wow oh wow. Need to hear the NS3000 with other amps.

I have this NAD 3120 with the typical "Switch On Power Thud Sound Issue" and found some similar videos with this "robot-fart" coming from the 3020 ;). Is it also the C531, C532 & C533 which have to be replaced with 47uF / 63 volt caps on 3120?
