Does this AliExpress $3 endoscope work with OBS Studio for recording?
I purchased a $3 endoscope to see if I could use it with OBS Studio for capturing video footage in hard-to-reach places (and try to avoid spiders).

    Hi Gerry, I have roomba i7. It is by default loud compared to Xiaomi, Eureka etc. is there some trick to reduce the default loud sound. Thank you.

    • @GerrysTech
      @GerrysTech День назад

      Since I haven't had mine from new I'm not sure what the default loudness should be. Mine is much louder than my Xiaomi, about double when cleaning. But the Roomba appears much more powerful, so I use the Xiaomi on wooden floors and the Roomba on carpet. I suspect most of the noise comes from the spinning motor I fix in the video, probably from the impeller part. If the impeller is damaged or not aligned properly its bound to make more noise. Do you think your unit is much louder now than it was when you bought it?

    Why doesn't normal WD-40 work?

    • @GerrysTech
      @GerrysTech Месяц назад

      WD-40 might work but it's not really a lubricant designed for this sort of purpose, it's great for lubricating things that have moisture involved, things that are rusted etc. Normal oil might work as well, like sewing machinery oil, but I think it's really a job for grease, and white lithium grease is fantastic for metal on metal, plus it smells nice. I use it all the time even in things like door hinges. If it is something rusty I would use regular wd40. Also the grease shouldn't affect any of the plastic parts it might come into contact with where normal WD-40 might. I hope this helps.

    I love the steps you went through to show someone with an arduino and not know what to do with it as great inspiration. As a lifelong electronics design engineer and both desktop app/server & microcontroller programmer, this is of course child's (no pun intended) play, but I still love it and watched it all! One caveat, ChatGPT is great at explaining, but OFTEN wrong code. ChatGPT has a VERY LONG way to go. But that is not the biggest problem with it. Try explaining an accounting system, or even an email GUI to it, ....NOT A CHANGE. The explanation would be longer and WAY MORE complex than the actual code ...assuming it could do it, which currently is ...NO WAY!!!

      When I was getting the error 26 the unit was still happy to charge and even attempt to empty the bin even though the unit was empty. So I don't think it's causing a problem. There's lots of people reporting completely separate problems with emptying the bin and a lot of it seems to do with dirty sensors behind the bumper. It would be worth giving the whole thing a good clean. I also found this official link from Roomba regarding bin emptying problems. Maybe it can help you. homesupport.irobot.com/s/article/30568#:~:text=If%20Roomba%C2%AE%20continues%20to,and%2For%20the%20sensor%20ports.&text=After%20you%20have%20cleaned%20all,error%20by%20rebooting%20the%20robot.

      Well, at least you tried. :) The only things I can suggest are to keep trying for a couple of times to give the lubrication a chance. Also taking it apart a second time and reassembling it can sometimes help, you could also look at the impeller and see if that is okay because I noticed that on mine. Some of the fins had been broken off and I guess if its missing to many it simply won't be able to work properly. It's always possible that the motor is just burnt out. If all that fails I guess you're stuck with purchasing a new cleaning head unit.

  • @cannonballer7550
    @cannonballer7550 3 месяца назад

    Good try...but its still heavily vibrating in the post fix vid there. That's what mine actually sounds like now. (with no greese) Seems like yours was seizing up on your first vid. At least you go it going. I just ordered a new head unit from irobot. But I will put some greese on my old one see what happens. Can't believe irobot would use such cheap components, seems a like common issue. Thanks for the vid!

    • @GerrysTech
      @GerrysTech 3 месяца назад

      Mines still going, so far. Let us know if the grease works for you. If you pull it apart have a look at the impeller and see if it is missing blades, that’s another thing I can see as causing a problem. Seems ridiculous to have to buy that entire unit. 😞

  • @WakkiBakki
    @WakkiBakki 3 месяца назад

    Worked like a champ. I used silicon lube instead. It's dutifully back at work in the salt mines. I noticed the plastic fan wheel had a few missing posts along the outer perimeter but don't think that's a huge problem. Also, didn't think much about the slight smooth resistance I felt when rotating the fan as I figured it was simply the motor mechanics. I tried your method and immediately noticed a marked lessening of resistance. In retrospect, after the fix, it felt more like a brushless motor with the slight magnetic resistance during rotation. Liked, Subbed.

    • @GerrysTech
      @GerrysTech 3 месяца назад

      Thanks for the sub. I’m glad you got it working, regarding the broken fins on the fan. I had the same thing. I think anything large that passes through can potentially break off some of those fins. I guess if enough of the fins are broken, it will stop sucking properly. and you’re right about the brushless motor having resistance because of the magnets. I don’t think I showed it on the video but I actually turned the bell housing and shaft around and poked it through the other side to eliminate it when I was checking to see if there was any resistance, to be fair it was subtle, but obviously it’s there because this technique fixes the problem.

    Battery, I get about 2- 3 years with my G2-S, I’ve had mine for about 5 years or more, I make sure I winterize it by removing it after before the freeze, remove batteries, drain my pipes of course,, and I love the fact it detects when more flow is happening than usual and will alarm u and shut off automatically, I have a well also, so that’s important to me, make sure u get a back flow preventer folks especially if u have a well , my well sometimes shuts off and stuff could start sucking backwards in your house,, not a big deal but depending on your situation, it could be such,, over all I love this hook up,, automation is great when it works and saves me,, it would work good for hydroponics also, I was growing hydro before this was developed but I can see it would have worked,, Thks! Just the piece of mind justifies the cost, if u get it,,

      Yes I totally agree. The peace of mind is definitely worth the cost alone. I had a tradie come around last week and he turned off one of the taps because he wanted to wash his hands, I wouldn’t have had a clue, except it gave me an alarm to tell me that there was no flow. It’s great to hear that yours are going strong after five years.😀

    Great video, I just subscribed. I don't believe there would have been a spring in the fire button, as the switch provides enough force itself to pop back up. Springs are only really used when absolutely necessary in such circumstances.

      Thanks for the sub! And the info about the spring. I’m sure you’re correct about the spring. The joystick seems to work fine the way it is.

      Do you mean the picture that’s on the thumbnail for the video? if so, it’s not real. The TV doesn’t show that image on start-up. I was playing with AI image creation, and asked it to create an image of a TV with a picture of lightning McQueen on it, and that’s what it came up with.😀

    Would be interesting to install this in the full size The C64 from Retrogames

      I’m definitely gonna put this into an original case. I don’t have a c64. But I do have a vic20. I think that will be hilarious because the emulator supports multiple commodore machine. So theoretically I can switch between vic20 and c64 from the controller. Also, there’s a lot of other cool stuff that the emulator can do. Which I would like to explore in other videos.

      @@GerrysTech I do have an original C64 that's not working. But the case has a lot of issues due to age. Would be really interesting if this could also use a floppy drive and original physical cartridges

      I don’t think this is possible with bmc64 or other software -based emulators. when I get to putting it into a case, I’m gonna see if I can’t make it so they can both exist in the same case, the original motherboard and the emulator that way you could have the best of both worlds. Might be a bit tricky but it would be fun to try 😀 to get true emulation that could support real hardware I would have to use an FPGA based emulator like MISTER. Trouble is that’s incredibly expensive in comparison but ultimately I’d like to try that.

    would the pi pico run turbo graphx ok?

      I don't think so. For that I think you would need at least a raspberry pi 3, running Retropi . If you go to that level you would get a whole heap of emulators available to you.
