Battery, I get about 2- 3 years with my G2-S, I’ve had mine for about 5 years or more, I make sure I winterize it by removing it after before the freeze, remove batteries, drain my pipes of course,, and I love the fact it detects when more flow is happening than usual and will alarm u and shut off automatically, I have a well also, so that’s important to me, make sure u get a back flow preventer folks especially if u have a well , my well sometimes shuts off and stuff could start sucking backwards in your house,, not a big deal but depending on your situation, it could be such,, over all I love this hook up,, automation is great when it works and saves me,, it would work good for hydroponics also, I was growing hydro before this was developed but I can see it would have worked,, Thks! Just the piece of mind justifies the cost, if u get it,,

Yes I totally agree. The peace of mind is definitely worth the cost alone. I had a tradie come around last week and he turned off one of the taps because he wanted to wash his hands, I wouldn’t have had a clue, except it gave me an alarm to tell me that there was no flow. It’s great to hear that yours are going strong after five years.😀

We just bought one of the G2S models for a drip system for our organic raised beds (UK) (waiting for it to arrive today actually). Just looking for tips and stuff. I did notice that there aren't that many videos on this system and few that really get in to the mindset of the person who would choose and use one. When I saw your video was over half an hour long, I thought that's too long but honestly... i've watched it to the end and it has been super useful. You requirements are much more complicated than ours but your insights in to the app and how you've approached it were much appreciated. Earning you a thank you and a sub.

Very informative video, thanks for making it. Do we need a backflow preventer and pressure reducer for the LinkTap? Also, you eluded to variable pressure drippers having all sorts of problems, would you be willing to expand on that? Would you recommend most people to only use the fix pressure drippers?

Hi, my problem with variable pressure drippers that they can depressurize the line very easily, so that some drippers output more water and others further down the line get no water. its also easier to calculate what water usage is sane. ie. 100 x 2 litre per hour dripper = 200 litres for one hour. I also found that the quality of pressure drippers seems to be better. (I wouldn't ever go back to using variable). Purchasing this stuff online from a specialist store was much cheaper than the local hardware store. I use a pressure reducer on my lines or else the fittings would pop off. I'm not sure what a backflow preventer does. Also I live in Australia and don't have to worry about the water freezing. Hope this info helps :)

@@GerrysTech Thanks for the quick reply, also aussie based. I think I saw bunnings has fixed pressure drippers and I think for fruit trees it is the 4L ones recommended, which online specialty store did you use? Looking on youtube the USA based videos, my understanding is that the backflow preventer is to prevent contamination from the drip line going back to the house and is mandatory in some parts of USA. I don't think this is the case in Aus? but I'm not sure, this would the first time I would be setting up drip irrigation for some fruit trees at the perimeter of the house.

Hey a fellow Aussie! I think i bought them from here irrigationstore.com.au/, but i have also used the ones from Bunnings as well, and they seem OK just pricey. I'm using hundreds of them. Not sure about the backflow thing. I also have a filter fitting connected inline, maybe that stops backflow?

@@GerrysTech I thought the Linktap has a built in filter, did you add a filter as a backup? Thanks mate.

Hey, I didn't think about it, I just always add a a filter and a reducer. I guess I'm set in my ways :) It cant hurt, right?
