    Bro, im frustrated. Im having 2 problems maybe you can help me with? 1. The edison recording is not aligning up with master track.. 2. When I insert the edison recording to the playlist track it is MUCH quieter than the copy that's in the edison. I record in edison and its the perfect volume, even on playback with the music, ... but as soon as I add it to the track it is SUPER quiet and does not match the loudness of the rest of the vocals on the track.

    Is there a way to do this in bulk? I reinstalled windows and replaced my old ssd with a new one, i backed up my projects, kits and presets, but forgot the backup the samples in the projects... but thankfully i still have the old drive, but kinda confused on how i backup and transfer all projects correctly, i know u can export a single project file with all the containing samples, plugins and so on, but seems kinda crazy to repeat that process on all 200 of my projects...

    • @shortandsweettutorials8767
      @shortandsweettutorials8767 Год назад

      Yes you absolutely can, so first of all you need to make sure your samples folders are all reconnected in the file pathways (you do this in settings>file). Secondly once you have reinstalled FL studio, you need to merge all your old folders with the new ones, this takes a little more digging as FL12 and up use different locations to store your data. You will find a lot of what you need in user>documents>Image-line. That folder will be all your sliced audio from Edison (anything you send to the playlist from Edison), all your project back ups and your presets that you have made in any VSTs. For ease just copy the whole "image-line" folder from your old documents HDD to your new one. It MUST be in the same place. Lastly it is a good idea to merge your "data" and "plugins" folders from your old FL to your new one, those will be found in C:/ (or whatever your old drive name was)program files> Image-line. Also remember you will have to reinstall all your 3rd party plugins before you do all this. If you have any issues I can make a quick tutorial on how to do this, I admit FL don't make it super easy haha.

      @@shortandsweettutorials8767 So if i just save the "Data" folder inside the "Image-line" directory, i should be good? It includes all my drum-kits, samples, plugins and presets.

  • @mycosys
    @mycosys Год назад

    Yeah thats really not quite right. You described clipping, but saturation happens before clipping. It is NOT the entirety of the magnetic particles being aligned, it is reaching a point of diminishing affect on the magnetic particles where the physics means that exponentially more power is needed to align more particles together (magnets dont want to align, they want to be north south and cancel out) such that a large change in input amplitude produces a smaller effect in output. Unlike clipping the transfer function is a curve. Unlike clipping no information is lost form the wave, just the relative size of changes adjusted. The harmonic series introduced is biased much more to early order even harmonics than clipping, it sounds a hell of a lot nicer. The same is true of the magnetic saturation in transformers. If you want to understand the transfer functions of saturation and clipping, have a look at a vid 'You dont understand Saturation' by sseb. He does a really good job of explaining it without getting too into the math weeds.

    nice, it's funny but I actually realized midway through this that I had NO real idea how recording to tape worked that info alone was worth the 3.14 minutes :) love understanding more about my audio rack & vocal booth - my "Mike-E" preamp from Empirical Labs is famous for exploring that analog-tape sound. It's so nice to sing thru - my main feeling is it sort of... softens out and de-harshes my voice with this pleasant and subtle "hug" feel to the waveform also works nicely on bass guitar for me so far!

Like you I have a bunch of used, prewired patchbays (GPO in my case to match an old mixing desk I already have) and having taken a look at them I can see a lot of skill has been used in the cable management, it is all beautifully bundled. I have decent lengths of tail still attached so hopefully your video will allow me to figure out the normalling, make any adjustments I need, and add my jacks to the end of the tails without having to undo all the quality work the original owner did. If I tried to start from scratch there is no way I'd do such a tidy job!
