Welcome to my channel! This channel is about riding and sometimes racing my dirt bikes on MX tracks and trails. I'm an Army Retiree, Iraq and Afghan Combat Veteran, husband, father, and Autism advocate. To my fellow veterans/retirees: it's way too easy to get depressed and suicidal because you're no longer doing that thing that challenged and made you proud of yourself. First thing you need to do is accept the new you and your new mission. Secondly, you have to get active and engaged in something challenging. That's where riding dirt bikes comes into play and for many of us a new lifestyle, a healthy lifestyle, mind and body!
KTM 350 SFX Woods Conversion: ECU Remap Test
Here testing my 2019 KTM 350 SXF with a newly remapped ECU by Tokyo Mods for Woods. This is the first major change to my woods set-up. I've already added some tug straps to the front and back and have handguards, disk guards, and skid and suspension guards installed. Next step is gearing: sprockets and X-ring chain. Don't see the need for an OD tank or 18 rear wheel as of yet.

New Woods Layout at The Ridge MX \\\\ 1JUN24

Rode the new wood's layout at The Ridge MX and it was an absolute blast. Lots of single track, elevation changes, and of course treeeeees! And I couldn't be happier with the 350. I do miss some of the fast flow and long stretches of the former set-up. These are the best marked woods trails I've ever seen. Though the video doesn't do the speed and roughness of the terrain justice, without good m...

Fun Riding Outback MX Track (Perfect For Vet Riders) FEB 2024

Here at Outback MX (ATV Park) for the first time after breaking my ribs last fall. This is the perfect Vet (rider) track. Track is looking much better thanks to a day of hard raining the day prior. So if you wanna go ride this track go while it's raining or right after. It's a fairly easy track and has a nice flow to it. #leattfamily #leatt #gaerne #fasthouse #ptsd #retiredarmy #retiredwarrant ...
How I Broke My Ribs! // Ouch

This is how I broke my ribs. See how easy it is to break ribs at 49 years old SMFH! What you think went wrong here? First off I must say this injury hurts like hell because the ribcage is constantly moving. I've had my share of injuries, to include another 4 ribs broken, and surgeries but this is the most agonizing. It's been 3 weeks since the crash and it feels I'm not even half way through re...

Here at The Ridge MX track doing some really slow laps. Seems like I've forgotten everything I've learned but I'm sure it's just the lack of riding tracks these past 6 months due to some injuries. Will continue to work at it and hope to get decent again SOME DAY. #theridgemx #gopro #retiredmilitary
Brushy Mtn Group Ride (Easy to Hard Enduro Trails) May 2023

Here at Brushy Mountain Motorsports riding the trails for the first time. Some of these trails are pretty hard but not extreme. If you want extreme enduro they have the goat trail which you can do. This is definitely one of my top 3 places to ride woods and enduro here in NC. The other two are Brown Mountain and Uwharrie OHV trail systems. Note: don't mind whatever I'm saying. I can't even tell...

Here at Devil's Ridge MX (NC) riding my KTM 350 SXF following a buddy on his KTM 300 XC, who is taking it super easy on me cuz he's a much faster guy. On another note, this 350 is so easy to ride on these open trails and I always wanna do more than just one lap (about 20 mins) on Map 1 TC. I'm actually enjoying this bike more than my 300 on these open trails, but will try it on single track at ...

Good footage. Gotta get back out to the ridge sooner that later
Good mix of single track and double wide stuff..very well marked.
Agree!
Is this in NC?
Yes in Laurinburg.
Brushy is an awesome place to ride! Thanks for sharing!
Can’t wait to go back!
Is this place open year round?
I’m pretty sure it is since it’s private property. Brown Mtn is not.
You know if all the Uhwharrie OHV trails are this heavily rocky, or just this one? Been wanting to take my wr250r, and try to avoid the hardest trails my first go
From what I remember this most of the trails are like that. You really need a good trails suspension to go there. I haven’t been back there in a few years tho.
Wishing you a speedy recovery brother.
Thanks brother!
How many miles of trail do they actually have now?
Honestly, it's the same except a little (about 300 meters) single trail section they added. Even the MX track is a lot like the old one. Main difference are the clean portajohns, added sections and dirt to the MX track, and a few jumps. Track is in much better shape than the old one.
Even at 36 a bet it could set a record for that easy trail
What’s you point? At 36 I was in Afghanistan setting a record for most artillery shells fired upon the Taliban! I was like 45 here on a MX bike with MX suspension.
Trails are far too sandy to really enjoy riding here in my opinion.
You have to go on the single trail ones in the woods to really enjoy them but yeah I mainly go here to do this easy track which also has some pretty sandy spots. Best trails in NC are in western NC by the mountains or Uwharrie which is pretty rocky.
Hello sir. Can iask a favor if you can weigh the whole stock flywheel and the gytr?
I no longer have this bike.
Really nice bike man! I'm really hoping I can get on a 23 350
Yeah I was looking for a 23 300SX but the OTD prices are just ridiculous!
Looks like a grest place to ride.
It’s my favorite place in this area.
Think I could hang there as a beginner?
@@ryandsuckssorry for the delay. Did you make it that way yet? Yes I think you can do it as a beginner just go at it alone.
@@risingeagle915 I did. I had a pretty difficult time with the rutted out hill at 0:25, and then up the log after the bridge at 0:54. I was solo, novice rider, no phone, no map, no idea what was ahead, so I turned around and came out.
@@ryeann2567sorry to hear. It can surely get hairy in there. I’m currently doing a top-end on the 300 but may come out there soon in the 350. I can hit you up if you’re still riding and wanna ride it. Just reply here and I’ll be on the lookout.
How cool is that! I'll try to make it next year. I live in Fayetteville, 59 year old retired Army. Just getting back into riding.
Cool brother. Retired Army myself living in Fayetteville. I try to ride at Dreamville MX a couple times a month. You can look me up on Facebook and send me a DM if you wanna link up some time.
My riding lawn mower had a bit of trouble in the middle section but was able to wheelie it to the top. Must have been the high octane booster I put in it
Yeah man we saw a couple of those enduro mowers while we were up there.
Just got the same thing done to my 2016 kx450 ecu...big difference from stock. They actually make you a custom tune. You tell them where u want the power, the aftermarket upgrades you've done to your engine, the type of gas you use, and they'll make u a custom tune in 1 day. Cost $225.
What do you mean it needs adjusting every ride?? That seems like a huge draw back vs. a flywheel weight
Yeah you’re supposed to check freeplay before every ride but not necessarily adjust it every time. And no way is a flywheel weight comparable to a rekluse. With the rekluse you can start the bike in gear or even come to a complete stop without using the clutch. You also don’t have to use the clutch. This is a massive advantage during harescramble or other endurance races where your clutch hand is shot after a while. I believe you do have to ride the bike a little different during changing gears without using the clutch if not you will have a hard time shifting and maybe even mess up the shift mechanism.
@@risingeagle915 great idea, I will be just trails riding and little bit of technical trials nothing major.
Is this place still open?
I went a few months ago and it still was open. Don’t think they’ll close it anytime soon.
@@risingeagle915 What kind of shape is the MX track in? I plan on going this weekend.
@@rogershipman3578 well if you’re a 2 wheel guy or small quad stay the heck away from any body of water or mud hole. They can never be trusted. The MX track is very basic and dry and somewhat rough though hardly any ruts. Trails are pretty nice though most aren’t marked. Be real careful on blind turns. There’s been some pretty serious wrecks there. I almost got taken out myself a couple times. It’s fun for all types of machines. Lots of sand riding as well.
@@risingeagle915 Thanks for the info. Sounds sketchy. I went to Cape Fear ATV/MX today instead. Not a bad track, although it isn't prepped. It's 45 minutes from Fayetteville, where I live but it's open every day.
You rode the 450 crf better than all the other ones on your channel. Why don't you like that honda? Curious
Arm pump. Just felt like my arms were gonna stretch out from all the power lol
Where are you from? Sc or NC? I saw your vid at the battery. Just curious. There is a pretty big group in my area that rides. Where are the cool ones in NC. Closer to columbia? Thanks brother
I live in Columbia sc. I have noticed that the sandy tracks and trails like a litter stiffer compression on front forks. Don't skate around as bad. W
It needed higher rpms for that track.
2 smoker has smoother low end but 4 smoker is much faster from 3 gear and up.
Hey man, your vortex should have traction control. 450 smokes the tires in sand
First one you used is good for chiller riding and lugging. That last one is your longer moto track map. Let it eat
That first map you ran had better traction and usable low end. it wasn't over revving like the final one you ran. Is that a vortex 10. I have one on a 22 crf250r.
It’s a stock ECU. Tuners are able to remap the green circuit in the ECU but it’s about $100 each time.
Exactly. I prefer the black coupler (last one) for longer tracks and the green coupler (first) for short tracks / SX.
@@risingeagle915 wow ok!
You probably seen me out there before I was on the three wheeler
Yeah I remember see a three wheeler out hauling butt
@@risingeagle915 yea that was me
Nice video
Its been 3 years now, do you still use that ? how the wear and tear of the clutch plate, did it wear fast or just same like normal clutch ?
Took it out after a couple years ago to ride MX. I don’t like it for MX.
My first time there that lol jump at the beginning Iike to took me out lol
Lol this was my second time after these changes but the first time that jump really caught me by surprise and I thought I was gonna eat dirt for sure lol
watching this made me scared to try it on my klx300sm with knobbies, I did it though. The key is to keep the revs high and maintain your speed.
That’s great!
I went down this hill with my klx300sm with 60/40 tires, both tires sliding down the hill, Idk how I didn't crash.
Can you ride good wheelies with it
I couldn’t tell you. I’m a lame vet rider lol
What is the movement like when you bend forward?
No issues.
was you still running the Rekluse here?
I think this was the last time I used it cuz after this I had to replace my shifting mechanism and decided just to take it off.
9
The heat that comes off the megabomb isnt worth it. Trust me
Cool video. Rode that trail Wednesday. How did you super-imposed the path and speed on your vid?
Didn’t know they opened on Wednesdays. Anyways the path and speed on the vid is a settings on the GoPro 7.
@@risingeagle915 I don't think they are open Wednesdays. It was a private event.
Cool to see someone do a video changing the plugs and headers and giving there take on it. I trust an ass dyno when you can ride back to back with changes far more than a real dyno.
Watching this after breaking rib #9 on a trail yesterday. Have you taken any spills since posting this video? How’s it holding up?
Funny you say that cuz I just took a good spill a couple weeks ago but wasn’t wearing the chest protector lol yeah not wearing it is my biggest enemy! Just hurt my hand a little. But yes I’ve had some falls with it on and it worked really well!!!
Dude your nuts u just said u got it cuz u broke your ribs and u still ride without it man u got a pair!!!!
I was just there the other day, looped out my bike in the middle 😂 it’s similar but maybe slightly deeper right now. Gotta stay to the right for sure. Next time I go through I’ll know where to go and won’t lose my momentum.
How many HP have, 55 ? Just fmf 4.1 and tunning?
Haven’t put it on a Dyno. It’s still very strong!
Yo I'm going to uwharrie on my ttr 125 tommorow can't wait I've I've before that steep Dutch John part is my favorite it's raw but I made it without getting stuck
Yeah, think I'll do one.
Where did you get yours from ?
Got it from Mountain Sports in GA
I have a wr450f with a Radius X and I love it
Where are you at Michigan? I’m headed up next week but I have yet to find anything hard to ride In Michigan. Where can I find hard single track in MI?
Sorry I’m not in Michigan. I’m in NC!
@@risingeagle915 if you ever get a chance go to West Virginia and ride the Hatfield McCoy‘s off road trail system! It’s awesome!
Have you tried around houghton lake, st Helen west branch there’s plenty orv single trails. More challenging in west branch area
@@chrisrieger9201 yes I have rode leota and houghton lake. My favorite so far has been Everett.
I love the total honesty that’s in the sound and tone your voice!!! Can tell you really liked it! I’ve got a Z-Start-pro in an 12’ KTM sx150 and love it ! No stalls and always correct slipping to power ratio on climbs and technical stuff. Could see it being useful on adventure bikes too to prevent stalling off-road and on . If only I had one to try it on! Lol good vid and review! Cheers
Thanks for the comment. An adventure bike would be nice too!
Your type of riding all flat wide open trails why would you need a auto clutch? There great for single track and rocky/rooty trails useless for your type of riding
Bought it to do harescrambles so yeah it came in handy a few times. Yeah not needed for the kinda terrain here on the video and a lot of my riding. That’s why I removed it a while back!
Cool bike. Do you like it more than the YZ ?
Overall I like it more but I also miss my YZ
