I am a DM and worldbuilder, historian & archaeologist, who enjoys painting miniatures and talking about history.
If you stick around, you'll get a lot of details from history that can easily be included in your own creative writing, RPG games, worldbuilding etc, in a digestible way, not the "classic history" lesson.
Also, I will be talking about my own homebrewed world, maybe brag a little, from time to time, hehe.

hey here's to even more videos for next year ^^, looking fw to all of them!
Civil wars, assassinations and other catalysts for social change can also work for this.
The dm is not a writer, the game is not a book.
Aye yo let's go!
Hey hey hey, funky people! Hope you enjoy today's video and find some inspiration. If you've ever started a campaign in, or took a campaign in the direction of a pandemic, please leave a comment sharing your experience so that others can take inspiration. Hope you enjoy today's episode. PS - by the way, sorry for the weird audio, I think my mike is on its last leg...
Nice job on this iconic unit!
Btw, i forgot to mention one very important detail in the video. The cavalry charge under Sobieski's command is the LARGEST CAVALRY CHARGE KNOWN TO HISTORY. That really is something and that's what inspired me to do this video. Thank you for stopping by and i hope this video both inspires you and makes your life easier. Leave a comment if you ever used The Great Siege as a start to your campaign or if you were in a game that started this way. Enjoy

Nice job!
Thank you so much!
WOW, you painted all that!? ❤
hey! yup, I painted it all, start to finish. if you are curious about the whole process, i have a full video (not too long) on it, on my channel
My body is rdy o7.
very interesting to find out the the meaning of Dungeons and Oubliettes. had no idea.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope this video halps you in your worldbuilding. Don't be shy and share how you implement dungeons and oubliettes in your world, or if you don't really , share what kind of prisons you have in your world.
Hi everyone! thank you for stopping by and watching my video. I am curious how you implement prisons in your own world, so if you like, please leave a comment and share your ideas.
Hey ! Awesome video, I'm glad I discovered your channel ! ^^ I'm planning a campaign in D&D that would theoretically begin in a prison, from which I assume my players are gonna escape from. Making it more like a dugeon seemed like a good implementation of the concept. Making them work all day (mining or some other task to balance the cost of food and other basic needs) leading to a point of exhaustion each day. Sleeping in the facility would reset it to 0, no matter the amount of exhaustion. But before that it had to be able to contain the more magically adept folk (basically a muzzle and a cast on two fingers on each hand to prevent casting magic). To avoid them being left out of the sessions, a book would be given to well behaved prisoners as a tool to write in and communicate with other people but may be inspected by guards. In order to contain the martial class, I would just add another point of exhaustion from their task to balance the fact that they can move more freely. Prisoners that would be too much of a danger to be allowed to work would be put in isolated chambers, similarly to what you presented to limits risks of escape or severe injuries to personnel. Given the danger that even low level parties represent, a high level baddie should absolutely be left alone. Reducing the exhaustion by one point each day would be made possible by succeeding a constitution saving throw (allowing the spellcasters to be more usefull in that context since they wouldn't have disadvantage). And as a location, an isolated and dangerous/difficult to traverse area would be the most effective, a snowy area or an island will absolutely dissuade people from getting out. (Sorry about making it more about mechanics but I think a highly monitored area built to keep you inside would be trivialized by most players if we didn't change a few things to make it a challenge.)
Hey @@Aracwo ! I love your idea, and I love the mechanic you mentioned. The idea of having them gain exhaustion points is a really nice touch. And the muzzle and the magic cast on fingers is really nice. In my world i implemented some magical bracelets, almost like handcuffs that prevented casting of magic and could not be taken off except with some highly specialized tools. Now, reading your idea, i realize mine was a little too restrictive to spellcasters. i will rethink it, so thank you. I am sure my players will thank you too, hehe. and i am grateful for your kind words about my video and channel By the way, my next video will likely be about dungeons, in their original form and their evolution to the maze like structures we know and love, and oubliettes, so i hope that will be helpful to you.
@@funkymonkeymp The handcuffs are a very good idea, I find mine too restrictive roleplay-wise. But yeah planning around spellcasters is difficult, if it's a big prison I would just make an anti magic field akin to a beholder's stare but a more flavorful solution is often better imo. ^^ Yes ! I always struggled making dungeons and learning about real ones would be awesome !
I was expecting the vampire to have a high ponytail. Heroes 5 ruined me.
Ah, a connoisseur Very very nice game, but I still prefer, after so many years, Heroes 3

Ayeee let's go!

haha, loved seeing Poty in your video <3 and I wonder if the place we're playing in our campaign can be defined as ruled by an oligarchy, since the merchant guilds there seem to be calling all of the shots...
well..... I guess we'll all find out in time :D
Aye perfect timing me boy o7.
Another way to use dictators in game, is to go the "corruption" route. Have a dictator start as a beloved revolutionary, that saved the day ... and over time became a complete nutcase. You'll easily find examples for this in history. Bonus points if the replacement for said dictator manages to be just as bad.
I love that! yes, that is also an awesome way of introducing a dictator in your world. And i think that an extra point can be given if the new dictator is an npc that your players have encountered in a previous campaign, and even helped overthrough the previous individual. The possibilities are out there, you just need to make the best of it. thank you so much for your comment, it enriches the whole thing. if you have more ideas, i am looking forward to your comeents
@@funkymonkeymp The main downside with your idea (a NPC they helped before) is time. Now if you play elves, waiting a decade or two for "the former friend" to turn Mugabe is no problem. But for most normal character groups this is outside the scope of an adventurers active time. There are several ways to handle such thing (for example fey realms with different time speeds) but those basically cut off the group from their former base of operations. But if you plan it as major "step" in a campaign, where you confront your players with "no good deed goes unpunished", then it can be a really great way.
yes, you are indeed right. i just realized, while reading your comment i formulated it in a poor way. i was thinking of myself and my group. we've only recently started our second campaign and although their new characters don't know certain high profile characters, those NPCs are individuals that their previous characters helped ascend to power, or saved from certain death etc. The PCs don't know them, but the Players do, a little easter egg or smth. And i love the suprise and delight when meeting one of those characters. our new campaign is set 40 years after the end of the first one, so some of the NPCs really had time to go places :D and i love the idea of "no good deed goes unpunished". but you are right, it would have to involve some fey realm shenanigans. sorry again for wording it poorly and thanks for the engagement, i really appreciate it
I love the new format! Keep it up!!!
thank you so much!
Interesting video 👍 I think doing the two different types of videos is a great idea. Videos with world-building ideas and information would be most welcome.
thank you so much! the idea of doing separate videos is starting to grow on me
And i think you can make 2 separate videos, 1 for painting and 1 for history/world building.
thanks for your input. I was thinking along the same lines
I first.

I am a new Subscriber but long time crafter... As I do not own a proxon, I used a ruler and marked with a pen where I wanted the wood and when i was done, it was all in one inch increments Pretty much what you did but left it all on the Foam board. Mine was 2 inches thick because they were having issues here in the USA of getting the thinner stuff So the other side of my tavern floor is a Dungeon tile. I love what you did with your Tavern!!
Welcome! The idea of having a dungeon tile on the other side of the tavern floor is awesome, it did not cross my mind. thank you so much for that! My plan is to have multiple floor types and walls so i can switch between them, and have a multitude of battlemaps for my players. This helps me so so much!
let's go
Keep on the good work 🙋
thank you for the encouragement!

Thanks!
Pringles could just sell cardboard tubes and forget the chips. Great to find a channel from a fellow crafter! Peace.
I completely agree! Great you have you, welcome!
Life is better with assistants 😂😂😂
Nice job 👍 Would look resplendent on any games table. Of all the builds I’ve done the dice towers have been the most satisfying, possibly because we still use them in our DnD games.
You gave me an awesome awesome idea! Although the towers I made are not dice towers, I now want to make at least one of them into a dice tower. I've been thinking all evening on how to do that. Thanks a lot for the idea!
Your camera auto-focus is quite distracting every time you move your hands around. Perhaps try setting it in place and fixing the focus on the paper
Perhaps it's not the focus, but something seems to be adjusting a lot
Hey! yeah, i agree, it is pretty distracting, sorry about that. I used my phone to film the map and i didn't realize it was going wild on the auto focus.
Very helpful! Great video!
I am glad it helped!
