So I wanna do a Padawan 360 for my r2 but I dont know what kind of battery source I should use and how I would go about setting it all up. (I'm very new to all this and been reading a lot of forms about this yet none really cover source of energy)
Where can you find the main holoprojector part with the thread in it? I can't find it in the baddeley files.
I got them from Thingiverse where somebody had modded the original holoprojectors

Is there a reason why you have the wires switch on your sabertooth to the motors? I notice the red wire was attached to the - spot .
Do you mean the power wires or the wires to the motors ?

what king of battery do you use to power everything
I use 2 x Lead Acid Batteries each 12v 12ah

Just came across your channel, and so many questions! Wish I had found it earlier as I was working in Norwich for 3 years, now in Kings Lynn. Just starting out on my journey wit R2. Printed the dome, bought the teecees kit, and will be working on servos over the next week or so. Any tips for a novice? Thanks. Great work btw.
Hi Jon, nice to meet local builders, we have a member who also lives in Kings Lynn. I would make sure all your pies fit flush before painting, i then fitted and tested then stripped down to paint. You can come see us at NorCon later this year.

This is very helpful, thanks so much for sharing. Did you add all of the final paint finishes before or after you attached the hinge arms to the pies and panels? I realize it may require some additional sanding on the pies in order for the hinge mechanisms to clear properly, so I'm currently debating the order of operations. I'm at the point where all of my dome pieces are ready for the final coat of paint and clear coat. My instinct is to perform a dry fitting and glue the arms/servo mounts in place where they should be, then detach the hinge arms from the servo mounts and add the final coats of paint to the pies and panels. Curious how you approached this.
Hi sorry for the delay on this, I dry fitted first then painted then added clear coat and then put back together

Very cool! How long did it take you from start to finish? I assume the hardest work was the sanding?
It was 12 months to build and 6 months on the electronics, sanding was a major part I am not going to lie. However the end result was just what I wanted even though he still has flaws

How much does it weigh? Is it more manageable than an aluminum frame?
Hi it’s about 30kg, I don’t know the weight of an aluminium I suppose it depends on what batteries you use or how much is installed. I can easily remove the legs for transporting him around

@@norwichdroids I’m looking to put the same system in my r2, just need to get a Sabertooth 32 but my supplier is out until the end of jan then I’ll have everything I need for it . Do you have a AV ground loop for your system too, I just got mine, it helps cut out any static that comes though your speakers when R2D2 isn’t making any sounds.

Very Nice, I have an Ender 3 as well and am almost done printing the dome. What an age we leave in haha. As an avid star wars fan from a child never in my wildest dreams did I think I could have my own R2. Great work and hopefully mine comes out as good as yours!
