Artifact hunting TN - Beauty from beneath the mud
We have another compilation of artifacts found earlier this year, hence the lack of leaves and greenery in the video! I'm slowly working my way through the artifacts found this year in the order i found them. This video is another collection of pieces of all types and time periods. Thats part of the exciting part of hunting for artifacts, not knowing what you may come across! The highlight piece in this video is what i believe to be a bottleneck benton? Whatever it is it came at just the right time! I found it toward the end of a long and unproductive day. It fell out of the roots of a tree that had recently fallen over into the water. The colors, translucence, and craftsmanship of it mak...

Artifact hunting TN - Walking up on the elusive harpeth river point
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
I'm finally back at it with another video after a couple month hiatus getting in some good hunting. The artifacts in this video were all found earlier this spring when it was still chilly out. Chilly or not, the artifacts constantly keep coming no matter what! A number of different point types, drill, and uniface blades are shown in this video. The last point is whats called a harpeth river poi...
Metal detecting native sites. What could be found?!
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.4 месяца назад
After walking up on an old large cent piece from the mid 1800's while at one of the native sites i hunt, I wondered what could be found if i swung the metal detector while i hunted? So I spent a day going to a number of sites hunting with the detector in tow. I found a number of interesting items from flat buttons, to bullets, coins, buckles, an addition to the egyptian looking piece i found a ...
5,000 yr old artifact hidden in plain sight and more!

In this video I have another lineup of artifacts spanning from the ancient to the 20th century. Quite a few of them are literally frozen in the ground as well! An old flat button that was found in the video wound up being a silver button, which isn't a common find for me. The massive deer shed i found was stuck in a pile of sticks and debris that a beaver had made into a den. The last thing i w...

This video is a compilation of more finds from the end of last year. The finds are still backed up and ready to be put into videos from the productive year I had! This video has it all as usual… little points, large points, scrapers, anvil stones, broke points, and of course the toothy point! I’m not really sure what type of point is at the end, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks for che...
TN's ancient past rescued. From beautiful G-10's to heart breakers!

Here we have another compilation of finds found in 2023. The artifacts piled up faster than i could make videos, but they will all get shared eventually. A lot of different point types in this video, including some real heart breaker pieces. They are all proud additions to the collection none the less. The highlight piece is the beautifully made copena, G-10 no doubt! I keep going back to that ...
Artifact hunting TN - The untouched field. Artifacts laying everywhere!
Просмотров 50 тыс.6 месяцев назад
What a day! 20 steps into this field and i knew it was gonna be one heck of a day! A field on a hilltop that to my knowledge has never been hunted. From the looks of it, it sure seemed that way. There were flakes and broken pieces laying all over. As i would make a pass from one side of the field to the other, it was unusual not to find at least a couple broken pieces. I got spoiled really quic...

This latest round of finds is from later in the year of 2023. Im slowly getting through the backlog of artifacts found last year that are making their way into videos! Your thoughts or comments on any of the artifacts are always appreciated. If you e...
Artifact hunting TN - The mega drill, lost lake, kirk, and more!
Просмотров 35 тыс.8 месяцев назад
This video is a collection of finds found later this summer and into early fall of this year. Its a typical video of mine full of an array of different artifacts from different periods, with a few not so typical pieces! From the hidden lost lake stuck in the hardened dirt wall at the beginning, to the massive lerma drill just laid out in the open at the end, and everything else in between. As a...
Artifact hunting TN - Bucket list artifact finally found!

Another video jam packed full of artifacts of all types! The coin looking piece was the exact size of a dime in comparison. Obviously not made of dime material though. Under magnified observation no date or any type of marking was visible, so it’s a total mystery still! I even threw in a fillet knife randomly found in the woods while bushwhacking. The odd piece found at the 14:00 mark was inter...

Wow! I live in 4-Corners & have seen a very large assortment of Ancient Native American artifacts. You're the first RUclipsr that calls the Arrowheads, points. That's what we call them. I seen more people calling them different names. The other thing I noticed is you always find all your finds in around 98%-100% condition. And the last one, in my opinion a blade & an awl. Very Nice!

    • @Points365
      @Points365 24 дня назад

Thanks man. I picked up the term “points” years ago from an older fellow that helped get my passion for artifacts kicked off. It always seemed more fitting since the term “arrowhead” didn’t really apply well as a broad name for artifacts. On the 98-100% part… that’s only because that’s all I show! You know artifact hunting comes along with buckets and buckets of broken pieces! Haha I’ve started showing more of the broken pieces lately because people were starting to think I never found broken stuff! I appreciate you giving your input and taking the time to check out the finds buddy!

It’s bluegrass. The beginning song on this video was “terrier waltz” by Nat Keefe & the bow ties. The song on my latest video was “St. Anne’s reel” played but not written by “Nat Keefe & hot buttered rum”. They provide their music for free online to be used and shared free of charge. I think from now on I should start putting credit at the end of my videos. Thanks for giving me the idea!

I have to ask why do you choose not to talk? I feel like I’m watching a silent movie from 1915 I I believe you’re uploads could be more enjoyable if you could just say something every now again for people who are not experts in point identification.

I am by no means an expert at point identification. I would surely mislabel something and give off false information mistakingly. As for the silence, that’s just how I choose to do it really. When I go back and reminisce on my finds by watching my own videos, the last thing I want is the moment to be ruined by hearing myself rambling in the background! I also want the entire focus being on the artifacts and their craftsmanship, nothing else. It’s just a personal preference. Plus I enjoy my privacy and nobody really knowing anything about me. I don’t want to be the focal point of the videos! Haha thanks for the input and I appreciate you checking out the finds.

Awesome finds. I have property with alot of effigy rocks and mounds. The amount of dirt the indians moved and crops they planted make me think a arrowhead was for cutting through roots to dig and possibly plant seeds. Hunting was only done when needed and theres way too many arrowheads to have only been used to hunt. Most are in the corn fields. All towns by water have mounds and earthworks with the historic houses built on them. The old concrete steps going up to the house will be built into the bank by the sidewalk. The backstreets always have them but no one pays attention

@@Points365 Well, I was born in Young Harris Ga and was raised up in the North Ga. mountains. Back in the 50s up til the mid 80s, the fields were still plowed and I hit them as often as I could. Being a kid, I also liked fishing in the creeks and have found a few points when fishing for trout. When in my early 20s I got deeply interested in hunting artifacts and hit the areas that I knew that always produced a few points. I hit the jackpot when I discovered a village site in a field that no one had hunted, mainly because the field was about 2 miles long and the village site was about a half mile into the field. When I discovered the village, you could not take a single step without picking up an arrowhead, beads, pottery, pipes, tomahawks....... The field was so rich in finds that you could actually pick up an arrowhead and if you didnt think it was perfect, just pick up another. I hit that field daily when possible and woud take home 100 arrowheads each day. The field was finally found to have a burial on it and the Cherokee Nation stopped everyone from hunting there and they now have a golf course. I remember those good days though. I wish I could hit those sweet spots with you, but I know how I would guard my secret spots, so I just hope one day you would invite me to look at your collection. Thanks a lot for sharing and responding.

I definitely think it was still used. Whether as a knife or what I haven’t a clue though? Even with the lack of base it still could’ve easily been hafted to a shaft. Like Eva’s for example.. little to no base on them, but clearly used as projectile points hafted onto a shaft. I always wondered how often they found artifacts in creeks and whatnot and reused them?!

Thanks man! I spotted that gorget from the boat as I was motoring along. I whipped that thing so hard I about lost my boots!😂 The finds in this video were from April I believe… I’m slowly sharing them in the order I find them. Indeed there has been some good finds found this year. More to come for sure! I appreciate it buddy!

Thanks! It was a surprise for sure. I love when they are completely covered in mud like that, so it’s a total surprise what it’s gonna be when you pull it! Broken forgets are the story of my life though! Not once have I found a whole one… yet!
