      It's unfortunately not as simple as that. For the game to work as intended there is a casting roll, then an action roll. This is the most consistent way for it to work within the system without feeling cumbersome or standing out from other skills. The system has actually grown significantly since this video waa posted.

      @@TornadoCreator Farage endorses Trump and considers Putin a great leader. Perhaps you're aware of them? And I read his 'contract'. Some of the ideas sounded good, but you could say that of every manifesto, and are totally unfunded. No, you're not going to make savings of 50 billion by making cuts to the civil service - that's like cutting 100,000 people earning £50,000 pa. If it were that simple, the Tories would have already done it. Expecting the French to take back the boat people is laughable AND breaks maritime law - and so on and so on. But a 'left winger' endorsing a right wing racist does show you how ill informed people have become.🤣

      @@TornadoCreator just in case the earlier reply didn't appear: I read the 'contract'. It had some good ideas but was not realistically costed. For example - it said it would save 50 billion through government savings. This is the equivalent of 100,000 workers earning £50,000 a year losing their jobs. If it was that easy, the Tories would have already done it. The idea of sending the 'boat people' back to France breaks maritime law and would just make the French chuckle - especially as they offered to set up a processing centre in France in 2021 and Johnson said no. Farage has called Putin a great leader and is friends with Trump. Neither of these people are known for their left wing sympathies, so the 'contract' may say one thing, but reality says another. And so on. The 'contract' was supposed to attract the disinfranchised, knowing that it would never have to make true on its promises. A clever trick, because it clearly worked.

      @vivienclogger Farage has repeatedly called Putin a vile man and a warmonger, I have witnessed him saying so first hand, so why lie and make out like he's pro-Russia? Do you think you'll convince me that you're arguing in good faith, or do you think I'll dismiss everything you say because you're provably lying to my face. Either you are disgustingly misinformed or you think I'm an idiot, either way; posts like this just make Reform voters ignore you and assume you're a butthurt leftist who'll scream "racist" at them for no reason, and why should we listen to that bellend? Try again, and make an argument that's wholely honest. And yes, I'm ignoring every other point you've made until you correct this one. I don't debate with liars.

    While I see what you're saying. Nigel Farrage is the Andrew Tate of politics. He uses issues that gets people emotional and then has used that to line his pockets. He pushed Brexit, and made money so much money off of brexit, while the average person has really suffered from Brexit. The Tories and Labour really arent much better, but Farrage tries to play it like hes "one of the people" but he really isn't. Every party has its issues, but I trust Farrage the least. But to each there own, thats the beauty, and the downfall, of democracy.

    • @TornadoCreator
      @TornadoCreator 2 месяца назад

      I'm voting based on issues and reality, not whether or not the internet has decided to label someone "far right". The issues of unchecked immigration, infrastructure collapse, cost of living crisis, and woke ideology in Britain are all huge problems right now. Farage is the only politician saying what real people in UK are feeling, and the only one who hasn't openly lied, broken manifesto promises, or been outright defrauding the public. To compare Farage to Andrew Tate is to swallow soundbite bullshit and shows you didn't actually listen to policy, you just accepted the media narrative. I don't trust Farage, I don't know the man. I do know that Sunak and Starmer are compulsive liars, both intend to do nothing about immigration, both are incompetent, and both are idiologically controlled by a woke agenda. Farage might be terrible, but all we can go on is the manifestos and the Reform manifesto is the only one that cares to help the British people, so I'm voting for that. Your alternative is to assume everyone is lying, at which point voting is pointless, which if true is a useless perspective to have. Vote Reforn UK... or be a cynic and do nothing. I choose the former.

Im just saying, looking at Farrages track record, he comes into politics when he has something to gain, and will just as quickly leave when he has gotten what he wants. Im trying to show you respect for your opinons and wants here, and Im not disrespecting you in any way, Im just saying that I, myself, dont trust that reform would be the way to go about achieveing them. Yeah. I do think Steve Donoghue was a nice enough eccentric guy for the most part, but he's got this odd position in booktube where he's respected and seemingly taken at face value despite him making absurd claims all the time. The point when it stopped being funny and became offensive for me was when he started portraying other people as violent psychopaths. He treats all Republicans/Conservatives as if they're basically neo-nazis and pushes insane conspiracy ideas of what will happen if Trump wins the election, (as if he wasn't already president for 4 years, and a secret Gestapo didn't sweep across USA shooting people in the head). He's got worse now, claiming all influencers are crazy narcissists who would have their bodyguards kill you if you dare to talk to them, and other bitter crap. He's become a vicious hateful misanthrope, particularly in the last year and I don't know why others ignore it. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'm half hoping Steve is just exaggerating and playing it all up for a laugh. Either way, I'll be here to call out the craziness and hopefully encourage a little more tolerance on the highly politically skewed place we call booktube.

    I don't like the woke stuff and am sick of being told in every readathon to read a lgbtq author or black as if that is enough reason to read a book. BUT at the same time I am not a fan of you conservatives either. I am an athiest and don't want to hear about your bible or your god in every damn video. Or guns or 'god and country' or how great the evil dictator wannabe trump is and so on. You all are just as bad and nuts as the woketards. And why should there be more of this or that on booktube or anywhere? Its like the blacks complaining about not enough blacks anywhere or some guy getting a lot of hate because he said the reason why there were not a lot of women in computer programming was because they were not interested and I'd been thinking that for decades. Gender or race swapping white characters or forcing blacks/lgbt into books or fandom in general isn't making things equal THEY ARE NOT THERE BECAUSE blacks don't think like whites and whites created fandom, scifi, conventions, cosplay, fantasy and physics and science and the math for physics, evolution, germ theory, telescopes, microscopes, lenses and so on everyone else looks at that and is butt hurt and then calls racism instead of what it really is which is not enough others are interested (look at all the tribal people with no science still living like its the dawn of man. They would have NOT EVER created/discovered science, ever, and the proof is look at them, they haven't meanwhile whites have sent a probe to Pluto.) in these areas and wouldn't support a franchise or whatever because they are not interested but yet they want to see representation. Simple as that. We created everything and ya'll others are too butt hurt to admit that to yourselves. The point is I don't want any political bullshit in my booktube. I don't want to hear about lgbt cult I don't want to hear about god or guns or flags or hunting or anything. And maybe there are not a lot of conservative booktubers because they don't read and they are too busy being bullies.

    As an anti-putin russian i can say that you understand this whole thing very deep. Your words about speaking russian doesn't make you russian are right. And this is also imortant to understand for those people who tryna fight russian culture and language confusing it with putin russia culture. Baltic people and ukrainians who speak russian don't have to be ashamed by this fact because it doesn't mean they are russians. USA MUST help Ukraine as much as it possible. It's really important. Putin feels weakness and pushes further. His is from KGB. While western politicians swim in this bureaucracy swamp Putin as a fascist dictator makes wide and huge steps wherever he wants because there are no one who can't stop him inside the country. American leftists who jumped on the wave of America hatred after Israel/HAMAS war started shouldn't put everything under the same roof. Putin is pure evil. But USA and Europe decided to help Ukraine only so it can't lose. But Ukraine should win. Not "not to lose". You don't have to hope for a revolution here. Russia is a rotted place. And the majority of people here were infected by Putin fascism. So the world should be decisive, strong and united. Although you need to show russian people you are not an enemy. But western politicians just afraid of nukes. Same shit everytime. Appeasement policy. Putin is that type of a guy who needs to be hitted right in his teeth once. Really strong and quick. And then he will crawl back in his bunker. And he won't use nukes. Now we can say it for sure. Yes Russia has already lost this war but how many ukrainian people's lives will it takes? I've been on the left all my life, and I would like to see more conservative booktubers. I can't understand why anyone who genuinely subscribed to genuine diversity and inclusion wouldn't want to see more variety. What we understand as social justice activism (or wokeness) is increasingly intolerant, authoritarian and censorious. Back in the day, the left used to defend freedom of speech. If we don't allow for diversity of thought and expression, everything will become oppressively grey. Personally, I want to be challenged and excited by new ideas and ways of seeing the world: if I disagree with them, I have to formulate my own arguments against them. I'm not interested in performative sloganeering, or being force-fed what to think by social media mobs. I like to read outside of my comfort zone.

      Well said. I'm very much in the same boat. I'm traditionally left wing too; I haven't changed, politics has. The left have abandoned free speech, egalitarianism, meritocracy, and most recently of all community co-operation. 30 years ago, left wing liberals would fight for free speech, scientific truth, and decency for all; now they fight for censorship, identity politics, and corporate control. The political sides have changed almost a full 180.

    Based. I never use "conservative" since that has become a meaningless term. It pains me that even mainstream right-wingers don't emphasize the primary rationale of conservatism: conserving and defending the parts of society that actually work over ideas that have been proven to fail like communism. Those evil white patriarchal ideals like free speech, due process, meritocracy, etc. And I never use "liberal". Classic liberalism of course is built on the primacy of the individual over the identity group, and so a "liberal" is solely defended by the right these days. I stick to right vs left, which is a battle between individual rights vs (if I'm being generous) group rights, or (more accurately) totalitarianism.

    • @TornadoCreator
      @TornadoCreator 4 месяца назад

      Most political terms are incorrectly applied and generally misunderstood. I like to think I make myself clear, but even I fall into those same traps. I find discussing politics on a left-right scale itself is deeply reductive. Ultimately I am very left wing, and yet I have more issues and complaints with the political left than anyone else. The reason is, while I believe in collective ability to solve problems, and the need for social co-operation; I don't feel this dislike and need to tear down the old. Far too much of the left is a combattive desire to destroy what conservatives wish to conserve, rather than a reasonable attempt to convince those conservatives that your new vision for whatever we're discussing would be better than what they already have. I like to think I can approach politics from a starting point of respect; it get you so much further.

    BookTube is ideologically captured because literature falls under 'media' and 'education', two of the pillars of society that Marxism needs to bring down, in order to destabilise society, overthrow the oppressors and establish a dictatorship of the proletariat. Books are also used to change the direction in which laws are being made and implemented, whilst acting like a Trojan horse, so that they can smuggle in their politics without parents being informed about the titles and topics they are promoting. Aristotle once said, “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.” Make no mistake, they have everyone's children now. Even those who attend the kind of private schools that you'd expect to be less infected and infested with progressive bilge. And you're right about the majority of these channels being created by women...who we know are always more likely to vote for left-wing social policies. I've lost count of the number of channels I've had to stop watching because the politics of the creator weren't simply the occasional reference used to qualify their perspective, from both an objective and subjective lens. No, these were outright misandrist harridans who will reference the make-believe "wage-gap", snort derisively about men's rights while bemoaning the eternal spectre of "muh patriarchy", and then fail to give any real examples of the ways in which they think that men have more rights than women. (It's always fun to take that little Q&A out for a spin, just to see them squirm and then try to fob you off with some made up statistic about rape-culture in American colleges that was all the rage back when 'Mattress Girl" was doing her rounds. It's the Cluster-B personality disorder traits that often cause these women to want to be seen as martyrs...wounded bird syndrome is epidemic at universities these days. I think I'm a lot like you in that my politics are right-wing. I'm not a Christian, I'm an atheist; but I'm culturally Christian and wish we'd fought even a little bit to continue to enshrine those values in our society, instead of just writing them all off and leaving a huge vacuum for toxic ideologies, apathy, and some less-than-compatible elements of "cultural enrichment" that another religion was only to happy to provide. It is correct that #WeWereNeverAsked, but even if we had been, I think too many generations have been brought up around increasingly more technological gadgets in an atomised society that breeds ennui, to actually expect them to vote against the idea of mass migration anyway. I'm not quite libertarian (although I despise what government has become and fear the tyranny it now possesses, after their aligning with huge corporations and conglomerates, created not free-market capitalism, but crony-capitalism, or corporatism...which in reality means fascism. And yes, I mean fascism in the truest, real meaning of the word, not the slippery and all-too-quickly-wielded linguistic tool, designed to stop anyone from arguing against them.) I'd love to have an extensive collection of firearms that I could use to defend myself and my family should it be needed, but that open borders bit will never sit right with me. I'm not a big 'C' Conservative because I don't live in the UK and therefore couldn't vote for them, even if I briefly lost the plot long enough to submit a ballot in their favour. I'm not really a small 'c' conservative either. I'm very much for family values and doing whatever is needed to assist young families in being able to expand beyond just one child per couple; but I'm also pro the legalisation of marijuana and am fine with first term abortions up until around 12 weeks, because the cerebral cortex at that point hasn't been formed sufficiently for sentience to register anything like pain. I'm politically homeless. But it does always make me laugh when people try to call me a 'Far Right Nazi' for wanting young girls to not be preyed upon and raped repeatedly by migrants who come here and see British girls as 'slags' that they can do what they want to. Which one is it? 'Far Right' or 'Nazi'? Because I'm not naïve enough to be an AnCap, and I'm not evil or retarded enough to be a socialist. And let's not forget our new religion of the alphabet people who need to have every whim catered to, as they are put up on a pedestal and worshipped by everyone who is too scared to question why the 'L, G & B' were ever forcibly teamed together with the 'T', or why having books that show illustrations of teenagers giving blow jobs or talking about anal sex in them, isn't all part an intentionally, predatory plan designed to 'Queer' as many children as possible. Because to be 'Queer' is to be in a state of perpetual flux, leaving the psychologically molested kids untethered to anything tangible, encouraged to abandon real families in favour of 'Glitter Families', so that they're primed and ready to be programmed into action, as soon as they're needed to overthrow the bourgeoisie and kick start the unending revolution which will see them totally (for cereals) liberated and able to live out their lives in a true Utopia. That I have to find myself siding with some feminists these days, over issues like keeping boys/men out of girls/women's bathrooms, sports, and occupations that require the increased speed, strength and stamina that only a guy can bring to the table (women can of course always do their bit by bringing the sandwiches) annoys me. Because it was them and their forebears who decided that critical theory, intersectionality and the progressive stack be embedded within the religion of feminism. But then war has always made for strange bedfellows....1/2 (To be continued in the comment that should be found in response to this one.)

      I'd say sci-fi released before 2005 is a good bet as when it is political it is rarely preachy, and older 80's and 90's fantasy is often more traditional and less political. Horrors and thrillers tend to be less political. Ironically, and this is the opposite of what they want. If you want to avoid political books, avoid female writers and non-white writers unless they come recommended. The publishing industry has pushed non-white and female authors writing political crap for so long now that reading white male authors will expose you to significantly less of it sadly, which makes their whole shtick self-fulfilling. Avoid modern contemporary, romance, YA, and most fantasy written after 2010. It will be idiologically captured. Recommended authors; Brian McClellan, Orson Scott Card, Steven Erikson, Brandon Sanderson, Peter F. Hamilton, George R.R. Martin, T.H. White, Mike Carey, Andrzej Sapkowski, Iain M. Banks, China Miéville, Gene Wolfe, Andy Weir, Adrian Tchaikovski and classics like H.P. Lovecraft, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, H.G. Wells, George Orwell, Robert A. Heinlein etc. I am aware my entire list above is men, and I believe most if not all are white. It's a sad reality that talented non-white and female authors are ignored in favour of political messages. That said, I do want to read more women. The feminine perspective is different and I feel it is lacking in my reading at the moment. Hopefully, that's been a help to you.

    Wow, you have a lot of courage openly addressing this - on BookTube no less! I couldn't agree with you more. As a person in his 50's who has been reading voraciously since childhood, long before the internet existed, no less RUclips, I recently started tuning into Book Tube for giggles, and to see what it was all about. But after a few days I had a 'twilight zone' moment. What the hell was going on?!? Everything you say in this video is 110% true. Disoriented, I kept searching and eventually I thought I found a few Book Tubers who said they only spoke about books, until somehow in every other video they somehow introduced diatribes against the greatest POTUS of all time, Donald Trump, or, they mention they will not discuss certain authors because they have "unplatformed" them due to their views, or they only discuss authors who are gay, black, trans, minority, women, gay, third world, (bonus points if they are some combination thereof!), etc., etc. And these mostly young girls are all discussing the same modern garbage dictated by an extreme leftist publishing industry. The classics (which are classics for a reason) are discarded because of who wrote them. To say this is woke, or left wing doesn't even begin to expose the problem. This is a hardcore socialist inculcation. Much the same that there are no conservative faculty in Harvard, or any other of the big universities, BookTube is not only an echo chamber, but also a dangerous platform to savagely condemn and destroy anyone who dares to voice an opinion contrary to theirs. They make history's master propaganda minister, Josef Goebbels, look like a schoolboy in lederhosen.

    • @TornadoCreator
      @TornadoCreator 5 месяцев назад

      Totally agree. I'm a pariah on booktube for bringing this up and making it clear that I'm sick of seeing censorship, political pandering, and groupthink dominate the discussions on books. Even the few people like Steve Donoghue and his cabal that do discuss classics, and admittedly do hold them in high esteem and speak out again woke nonsense, still have extreme cases of Trump Derrangement Syndrome that borders on insanity. Even if you dislike Trumps politics, the vitriol and hate is just disgusting. The only thing I bawk at is the demonising of the word "socialist" in your post. Frankly Americans shouldn't be allowed to use that word because no-one in USA seems to knows what it means. It is certainly not a synonym for "evil", and I'd appreciate more nuance here. What the cult-like extreme left in USA push for is cultural Marxism and authoritarian fascism, a weird inversion of puritan fascism that treats degeneracy and delusion as the new standard of purity. They are NOT socialists. I am a socialist. I believe in strong taxation, state run infrastructure, nationalised healthcare, judiciary, energy, and transit; and I can defend my policies on this. I'm also pro-capitalism and a social libertarian. Because politics is complex and every tradition has some ideas worth considering. Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I recently posted a video on the importance of 2024 and why Trump is the only sensible choice for USA. You may enjoy that one, would love to get your feedback on it. Have a good day.
