For the back I would use a bun size hairnet so I would not have to use hairspray, my hair is on the thin side and the hair net for me will help keep the curl, hairspray for me will weight down my hair.

There are cruelty free/vegan setting sprays/foaming wrap lotion, or you can make your own setting spray with flax seeds. I've never tried making my own setting spray, I've used the cruelty free foaming wrap lotion.

I prefer perm rods & pins over sponge rollers. My hair gets stuck on the sponge roller, I only pin curl the back of my hair around my hair line, using 4 long bobby pins. My hair is on the thin side, the length of my hair is up to my collar bone. Perm rod curls are similar to pin curls, favorite perm rods are the yellow ones and the purple ones, these sizes are for me much easier to sleep on, I add a hairnet and slumber cap to help keep the perm rods and pins from slipping out. And in the morning, I add a Bufton size hair net on the back of my hair to help keep my page boy hairdo together.

this video makes me so happy, I hate how all 1940s looks I see on the internet have the bold liner and lashes. I love bold liner in general and the modern interpretation is gorgeous but it's just not authentic to the everyday 1940s woman and I don't like when its portrayed as so. with the exception of the highly shaped brows and bold red lip, most of the makeup was meant to look very natural

I love the vintage eyeshadow but the modern eye brow. The vintage eye brow is unsettling, like a horror movie, and the modern eye is kinda drag queen. So I'm gonna mix n match and see how it goes 😆👁👁✍💅

Wearing makeup was already risque in the 1930s! Of course the actual look seems tame by today's overly made up Instagram standards. I don't think people today really truly wear that much makeup all the time. I don't if I can avoid it, except for lipstick!
