I can honestly say The Shining is the only book I ever read as a kid that actually completely scared me...and I loved it so much I watched the movie. Between that and Bram Stoker's Dracula (can't recall which I read first), I've loved horror ever since.

Just gonna throw it out there; Stephen King HATED the Stanley Kubrick version of the Shining. He went out of his way to make his own, more accurate movie. It's terrible. But. King saw HIMSELF as Jack, so he didn't want Jack to be completely irredeemable like how he was in the Kubrick version. .. also the King version has a skeleton guy who tells bad jokes. .. the King version is just weird and makes very little sense.

I think the alien tech is mostly in power: We know mass fusion was actually operating fission plants, as the Beryllium Agitator had only JUST been finished and not yet implemented when the bombs fell, per FO4. But we have fusion cores, energy cells, micro fusion cells, and more. So Giddy up Buttercup, as a self-contained automated toy, released in large numbers attracted the Zetans' attention. There may be other applications, as suggested in the vid, but that's where I'd put my money..

Also, there's The Visitor found in The Deep in 76 who is (or at least WAS) in opposition to The Interloper, and The Emissary random encounter during the Invaders from Beyond seasonal event who can lead you to where Homer is allegedly hiding at Black Mountain Ordinance. And then of course whatever Homer's actual deal is.

I think the Mingos were supposed to be aliens in the original games. They don’t seem to share any visual elements with any other fev experiments, which look much more organic. The only thing you could compare them to are deathclaws, which have much more in-depth explanation for their existence. I have a hard time believing the original devs would implement two equivalent creatures. (both bio weapons). And explain one much more comprehensively than the other, and not make any direct comparison or relation between them in the game. I think they must be thematically different. Outside of lore, and including the context of the time, its pretty clear that wanamingos are a reference to xenomorphs, and its possible that the reason for their inclusion starts and stops there. That would be underwhelming as an explanation but, ‘par for the course’ for fallout 2.
