I haven’t come across that before to be honest. My understanding is that it’s not adjustable. Apple have it set to 1.5 secs before and after the shutter release to give that 3 second piece of video to work with.

They may not be for you, every photographer experiencing their craft differently etc. My clients often say they struggle with composition overwhelm with the sheer abundance of colour and the short window to capture them at their best can put the pressure on. Other than that most of what I talk about applies to most wild flowers, it’s just bluebell season, so that’s what I’m photographing 📷 👍

The word cliche gets knocked around in photography a lot doesn’t it but honestly if it’s not hurting anyone (or anything!) then no one should put a judgement on the images you make. If it fires your creativity and feeds the soul then it’s all good 👌

Haha definitely don’t feel attacked think of it more as being part of a support group 😂 Only the support you get is encouragement to buy more classic lenses! I also love Sigma Art though I use my 24-70 a lot for work 👌

@@wildernessphotographic The 24-70 has been out of my price range for a long time but on my list until I discovered the Art series also has a 50-100 *f/1.8* which is a better focal range for me and a whole stop brighter. I have the 30 and 50mm f/1.4 Art primes, and bought the Samyang MF 85mm f/1.4 which is absolutely gorgeous glass if you didn't know, for under $200 (Samyang does have an AF version for around $400). So just a recommendation for vintage lenses, the Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm AF f/2.8-4 is awesome. It's from the sixth release of that lens and the only one they put out with autofocus; originally made for Cosina. Warm colors, buttery smooth watercolor-ey backgrounds, and round translucent highlights when you find the right settings. Better yet, it's tack sharp especially in the center, but has a certain glowy softness throughout the frame while retaining tons of detail. The colors are saturated but dreamlike. I'd absolutely say you can use that for professional work. It's definitely going to be first in my bag for portraits, and I got some amazing woodland photography with it. I also grabbed the VS1 135mm f/2.8 (made for Komine) which turns EVERYTHING into soap bubbles if it comes anywhere near a light source. It's the Helios 44 but in 135mm and made for Vivitar. The VS! 28-105mm f/2.8-3.8 just arrived with a Minolta MD mount. I almost sent it back b/c a lot of people say there's no adapters for MD to Canon EF, but Fotasy makes one and I have now confirmed that the flange distance is not a problem and it works with the adapter just fine... besides having that whole fun twist-focus design. Will report findings when I get to take it out for a spin!

Thanks so much eggers! The 70-200 f2.8 is such a good lens you’re going to have a lot of fun 🤩 As it has a minimum focus range of 1.4m you do need to pick subjects a little further back but that normally allows for a nice foreground anyway. If you did want to get closer you could always consider an extension tube. I do that sometimes to make a quasi macro lens out of it 🤪 Have fun!

Thanks for that Ian I’ll give that a go. My lav mic disconnected from the phone so the on board mics took over. I normally record audio separately as a backup but typically this wasn’t the case this time 😭 Davinci worked a fair bit of magic but still embarrassing 😳 Many thanks for your advice much appreciated 👌

@@wildernessphotographic No probs, I don't ever like to sound like I may be talking down to anyone, but just thought I'd pass on something that helped me out more than a few times, especially when two mics are involved and people's voices are at different 'levels' naturally, for example. Worth a try is Levelator, but try not to include too many areas of silence as it kind of over compensates for them. Aophonic is another new sound product that I recently came across, check out the review on Curtis Judd's channel.

Thanks Russell much appreciated. I think the acid test is if the kit is putting you off going to take photographs then it’s good to try something different. A ‘proper’ camera will undeniably take a higher quality shot but not whilst its stuck in its bag and not in the right place at the right time 👍 whatever way you keep your love for photography going has to be a good thing 📷

Yes I totally agree. I was in Keswick for a week - last week but it rained almost everyday so the camera mostly stayed in the bag and the majority of the photographs that I composed were on my iPhone. I have borrowed my son’s Nikon Zfc, which is a bit lighter.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to make such a detailed comment Bobby. You are of course right that I can't change the actual image exposure in post i.e. change the shutter speed, aperture or iso there by altering the amount of light entering the camera over time. However this being a video about making adjustments in Lightroom I have gone with the Adobe term for brightness which is 'exposure'. I have gone into this in previous videos but I'm sure you can appreciate redefining the terms each time can also be confusing for viewers. I will endeavour to include a note for viewers in future videos that I'm actually adjusting brightness (not lightness, we can't adjust the amount of light in post either). Exposing to the right is absolutely sound traditional advice although interestingly most cameras produced in the last five years or so have such good noise tolerance and high dynamic range that it's rarely needed. I'm sure you are aware but for the benefit of others reading - the aim of exposing to the right is that lights are normally less noisy than darks and can therefore be recovered in post, but as I say newer cameras and advancements in post process noise reduction has significantly reduced the pressure on this. Still great practice for anything older though. One major exception can, funnily enough, be snow where it is incredibly easy to blow out the highlights in sunny conditions if going by the histogram. In these circumstance if the detail in the snow is to be retained exposing to the left can actually be more helpful. Thanks again for your thoughts. All the best, Christopher

@@wildernessphotographic I think when you're explaining things it's important to be clear in your terminology, especially when talking about something as fundamental as exposure. Once you start presenting as a teacher you need to be more careful than would the everyday photographer. As for your comment about 'lightness', sorry, you got that exactly the wrong way round. 'Lightness' is the technical word for how light or dark something looks, and I used it correctly. 'Brightness' is a colloquial word for how much light comes from something. Again, many photographers get these wrong, but if you're teaching you need to get it right. I'd suggest a quick brush-up to familiarise yourself with basic photographic theory - not so that you can fill your videos with it, but just to avoid making mistakes which lead to others mislearning.

Yes although amazing anything came back considering what the film canisters must have been through! I’d be interested to work with the original original. I’d imagine one could get a lot more out of it and potentially digitally upscale the resolution. I wonder if it might lose some of its charm then though 🤔
