Did you "stack print" your tiles? I'm just getting started and haven't printed my tiles yet.
No, I wanted the same texture on all the bottoms which you can't do with a stacked print. I also have 2 Bambu Lab printers so with both going it really didn't take that long.
I really like this system and up until now could not fully justify buying a 3D printer, however now things may have changed. What I would like is your answer to this question. Would you buy a printer, in my case a Bambu lab A1 ( not sure about the AMS lite) just to print this system and then use the printer for other things. Or do not buy a printer and find another storage system?
I can’t imagine life without a 3d printer now. You will 100% find other uses for it, and the Bambu Lab A1 is a great machine!
They make an extension for the switch plate box. They use it for tile jobs to extend the box 1/2” and you get longer cover screws. You probably could just print it in the filament color of your job.
I've seen those! My room is tiny though and there is switch on another wall and I actually put motion sensors in the room so I never use either switch. So I was fine covering up. Thanks so much for watching!
@ I thought in case someone else needed the option to extend. I have to believe it would easy to make your own using a big box store extension as a model.
@@pburchins Ah, I see. Yep, and extension would work nicely. I do get a little weary about mixing 3d printed plastics with any mains electrical. Normal cover plates and such I believe are usually made out of nylon or PVC.
i would use a "molly" style wall anchor. they have the wings that come off 2 sides. you can even print them easy enough and they hold serious weight and lock easy when screwed down. standard expanding wall mounts just don't sit well over time in sheet rock. a molly holds off the back side of the board. but I love the idea of the milti board. I was already working on something similar. I will have to look into this and maybe finish out my work space in the multiboard.
The ones I used are suppose to have wings that sort of expand out which sort of does the same thing. I have a feeling maybe they are just spinning in the hole. I'm about to do a test on a piece of scrap drywall which will be in my next video. You should definitely check out Multiboard. It's really cool! Thanks for watching!
@CyberBobCity yeah I have been scratching my head looking at the tool plotting things out. For the "molly" hit Lowe's website and in search type 114767 and should say togglers I think was first anchors I seen that match what I been using. They don't spin inside the gypsy board turning it to dust. These flap open and distribute the weight. Down side is when they are pulled out wrong...your gonna need to look up "how to do a California patch drywall" . They pop right out with any long poker of choice back into the screw hole.
I don't know if I missed it but was this printed in PLA or PETG?
PLA, it’s what Jonathan that created it recommends.
You never told us why you chose Multiboard over Honeycomb
I guess I didn't summarize it. Lots more mounting options, feels stronger. A lot more thought and design has been put into this system, especially with the MultiBins and MuiltiPoint now. It's just more versatile than HSW.
I did some MULTIBOARD when I first got my printer. Recently I tried the Honeycomb, mainly because I like the solid edge you can frame it with. But found it way to hard to get pieces to match. So I am sticking with MULTIBOARD, wish they would add a border option.
You could probably add a border without too much trouble in tinkercad. But it still will be some work. Welcome back though! Thanks for watching!
You need to update your video so that you're using the newer Quad Offset Snaps (DS Part A)
I know! New update will be out soon!
Your wall looks great. It’s such a nicer look than pegboard or French cleats. I just found HSW and Multiboard two days ago. I printed one small panel of each. Sadly… the thing I was wanting to make that lead me to it… did not work. It was a mount for akro bins. When I hung even an empty bin on the mount it just pulled the inserts off. I’m sure there is a way to do it. But I am still new to 3D printing and trying to learn design so I am not sure how to make it. However…. I love the multiboard. I was about to hang pegboard in my shop and now I’m ditching that idea and going to do multiboard. Curious… how much filament did your wall take? And what filament did you use?
Well I love my French cleats in my garage. Multiboard though is great for smaller less heavier items. I probably used 3 rolls on everything up there. Check out the items in the Multiboard system which are “bolt locked”. I think those will help you. Thanks for watching!!
You do a much better job of explaining the basic mounting of multiboard! Great job, brother. I'm sold on it now
Thanks so much and thanks for watching! This video is a little older now so make sure you use some of the new pieces Jonathan released. I'll have a new video posted in about a week with the new parts.
500 hours of printing to go! My wall will be black PETG
Get going!!
What measurement did you get for the right diameter to catch the lip of those home depot buckets? I am getting ready to try this, but I would love a second data point for whether my measurement was accurate enough to work. I measured a 28.65cm diameter.
I cut my hole 11 3/8" which is 28.89cm. Gave it a little play so it wasn't super snug in the hole. Thanks for watching!
Cart looks great, but I don't own a 3d printer and have no plans to buy one. I am sure there can be a workaround.
Thanks for watching anyway!
What material did you print them with petg?
Just PLA and they have worked great!
@ thats awesome im looking to print some panels too but wasnt sure witch material
Thanks for sharing all the parts, subscribed!
Much appreciated, thanks for subscribing!
how much filament did all of that take?
About 3 to 4 rolls, everything included.
How much filament did all this take to print? Im looking at buying a printer just for this.
An 8x8 tile is 79gm of filament. So you can get about 12 per 1kg spool. I think I used 2 to 3 spools.
Can't you directly mount the board to the wall without spacers. ?
Yep, you can mount it flush against the wall.
What was the print time on all those panels?
I think about 75 hours just for the panels. The 8x8 squares take about 3 hours each on my Bambu Lab P1S
@ I saw that they have an option to print them stacked now so you can do I think 6 panels in 1 print. They print stacked on top of each other so that might be the way to go for such a long print.
@@Member00101 Yep, a lot of people do that. I have two printers so it honestly didn't seem like a lot of printing doing them one by one. It also depends what you want the face texture to be. So if you have a textured build plate, you might want the front of all your panels to have that same texture. You can't get that same texture with the stacked printing. So something to think about.
Very nice workstation, are you not concerned about the car cleaning hose restricting to much air flow, possibly damaging the vac? Thanks for sharing.
Nope, the car cleaning hose came with the shop vac.
@CyberBobCity I was wondering why you used the smaller hose, and now I know. Thanks for getting back to me. PS, do you mind if I copy this, I have already started gathering materials.
Next video?
Still coming!!! I'm just slow...and busy.
Hey sir, the 3d printed tool holders that you are using in the video, can you link to the STL?
Hello! The link is in the video description. Thanks for watching!
@@CyberBobCity the lock, yes, and I love it, works a charm. I was referring to the U shaped tool holder on the board towards the beginning. Either way, thanks so much, this has been awesome!!!
I forgot where I got the original file but I ended up modifying it in TinkerCad to put a little upwards hook on it. If you email me at bob@cyberbobcity.com I can send you the STL.
really great video that covers the basics of how to get all the parts that we've printed onto the wall! Great job! How did you decide how many anchors you wanted to use at the offset snaps? I think you did one anchor per quad snap? thanks
Keep in mind this video is older and he has some new parts that replace some of the ones I'm using. As for anchors, I knew I wouldn't be storing a ton of weight on these. So one anchor per quad snap seemed fine for me. Thanks for watching!
great video!!what is the discord name unable to find it. thank you.
They have mostly moved from discord to the Community forum at multiboard.io
Great video! I love how organized everything is. I picked up a bunch of the HF magnetic bars while on sale and your idea for storage. I don't have a 3D printer yet though so I may have to hold off. Thanks for the awesome idea!
Awesome! Thanks for watching! Much appreciated.
How do you keep this from wobbling so much?
I thought I would end up putting some sort of X bracing structure in it if any kind of wobble bugged me but it’s fine.
Brilliant.
Thanks so much!
Nice video. You sold me. I was leaning towards multiboard. Now I know I'm diving in. Doing a 6ft x 12ft garage wall with it. Should be done in 2034. 🤣
That will be sweet! Let me know how it goes! Thanks for watching.
What printer do you use ? And what do you recommend?
I have a few printers but my Bambu Lab P1S Combo’s are really all I use lately. They are just phenomenal!
@@CyberBobCity thank you looking to get my first printer 👍
Rad video thx - this may be the reason i get a printer. Make more videos please. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching! Will do!
I can dig it! I liked seeing someone new to multi board talk about it and not trying to “sell” it. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
These are great. Thanks for sharing the files.
Thank you! Hope you find them useful!
To fancy for a shop vacuum
It's been very functional for me! Thanks for watching.
By any chance do you have the width and length measurements for a single wall panel as well as weight? I am trying to estimate the amount of filament I would need for my area
the 8x8 core tile I mainly used is 207.65mm x 207.65mm and used 79gm of filament with their recommended settings of .20 layer height, 15% infill, and 3 walls. Hope that helps!
@@CyberBobCity thank you very much it definitely will
Hold on,let me get my 3d printer out
Why would you even put it away!? 🤣
Video I appreciate you for the effort you put into it and it helped me decide on using multi board
There are some updated pieces now so watch all the latest guides on the new Multiboard RUclips channel. Thanks for watching!
Holy cow. How long did it take to print all that?
A week, off and on, I think.
@@CyberBobCity good thing I can work from home!
@@UnwalledGarden You are lucky! What kind of printer do you have?
@@CyberBobCity Bambu X1 Carbon
@@UnwalledGardenAwesome! That will make some nice panels!
the only thing i would suggest is to mount a aesthetic/sacrificial board (plywood or something) to the wall.and then mount the Multiboard to the wood, only to limit the amount of holes you would drill into the sheet rock. as time goes by you choose to go with a different system or take it down for what ever reason.
That is not a bad idea. But too late now! So far it's been really handy. I'm posting an update video very soon.
the screw in plastic type of drywall anchor which split after putting hardware through them are the only one's worth using. they can hold so much weight it's crazy
I do like those and use them everywhere else. For some reason I thought the ones I bought would be great for this board... Should have stuck with the screw ones though.
yeah those push in ones are pretty hit and miss, the split apart put in one's are a little better
@@justinbouchard I still need to do a test to see why they aren't locking on. It will be in my next video. I think the screws I picked are too short.
that could be a thing, if they're the split type of anchor the screw does for sure need to be long enough to get past the "pop open" point of the anchor
I hope you get back to making videos, this one is excellent, you were very clear about how this system work and how to install it. Great content.
Thank you! I'm working on a new one right now!
@@CyberBobCitygreat news and great to hear from you!
What is the benefit to a regular pegboard? You can 3D-print accessories to that to and it must be cheaper, right?
When I used pegboard, the hooks would come off all the time when taking your tool off. This gives you so many more ways to mount things and all of them attach to the wall really well.
Have you print this in PLA or PETG?
I did all PLA+
Show!!!
Thank you!
Perfect!!!
Thanks for watching!!
Great video and nice organizing system. Appreciate the easy to follow tutorial! The one thing I would do differently is to paint a 1/2 or 3/4 inch sheet of plywood in your wall color, and attach that to the studs in 4-8 spots (depending on your storage board size). Then mount your board on that with smaller screws that does not penetrate the drywall. That way you don't have to use those shitty dry wall anchors and your wall doesn't end up looking like a Swiss cheese.
Yep, that is definitely a good option and would keep it nice and sturdy. For this wall I was fine with trying it on the drywall.
Honeycomb can also ne mounted away from the wall, I don't think the amount of flex matters at all, and I don't care about the licence stuff. So now which one is better and why? Thanks.
I like Multiboard better because there are lots of ways to attach accessories onto the wall. Thanks for watching!
@@CyberBobCity Is that not also true for honeycomb?
@@D4RKFiB3R No, they only have one way, honeycomb snaps.
I hate drywall. I feel your pain. :D
The WORST!!
i like this way more than the traditional honeycomb
Me too!
Appreciate it. Thanks for sharing
