First time viewer. I also watch VIBE WITH MIKE, out of Duluth,MN. I was in Sturgeon Bay when 3 of the 5 -1,000’ers were in. Glad I saw your video otherwise don’t know if I’d get chance to see the other two. Will return to see them. Question: Do you announce when each ship is leaving? Or just video them? Great content & discussion. Can’t wait to see the new paint jobs. Hope to be able to watch them leave the Channel in Spring.

Because of your excellent video, I am making plans to go see the ships during February. Haven’t been there in 5 years. I heard the locks open around March 25, so will they be leaving then?

Very interesting. I am a mountain boy and have only seen ships in passing. I did visit the Battle ship in Mobile harbor and a submarine in Philadelphia. I saw the ships sitting in harbors as you go over bridges in Philadelphia and San Francisco /Oakland. It is very intriguing to think of something that large floating and being able to make go where you want it to go. Someday I may be able to visit the Great Lakes and see some of these fantastic vessels.

Largest drydocks is in Erie PA Donjon shipbuilding on the great lakes

Another nice video. Thank you. I had the pleasure of seeing 18 different ones in Marquette this past summer. My first year of going to Marquette. So glad I had the honor of seeing the Arthur Anderson and Phillip Clarke since they are both going into layup indefinitely. Being this is the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy I hate to think that the Anderson won’t be out giving her a master salute 🫡 Pray that it’s not permanent. ❤

It was a really great video, seriously interesting, but you really need to get rid of the music, which is distracting to begin with when you're watching an intense detail-oriented operation going on between marine experts, with action music background preventing me from making out what they're saying in places, when I really want to just watch the professionals work. Thanks. Great video, though, besides the distracting music.

Getting tucked in for winter. Sigh. Now I'll be watching reruns of freighters.🫠

Thanks for this. I remember going fishing there as a kid in the '60's.

I know of 3 more shipwrecks at Little Sturgeon Bay. You could see them from overhead or on google maps years ago. One of them you could see in the water at the C dock at Wave Pointe, but that one might be sunk into the mud now. It almost was when they built Wave Pointe. I believe there are a few more, but only timbers are left. The first one at 44.84655, -87.55545, was in dock and burned to the waterline. The second at the dock is here: 44°50'44.2"N 87°33'32.2"W and the third I know of takes a bit of a hike to get to and it's private property now that has been divided into lots. It was located right up against the ledge along the shore. Was a fishing boat that the engine quit and they drifted across the bay into the ledge. 44°51'12.2"N 87°34'24.1"W . When the water is clear in the spring, that one should show. I know it's been documented by Paul Creviere, Jr. in his book that is available at Door County Maritime Museum. He documented over 150 of them. Name of the book is something like Wind and Sails, Tattered Tales. Dry reading because it's a documentation buy he dove each wreck.

I love to see footage of them coming in for lay up. You cant even get close with a drone in the 2 ports I am close to. Hope to see the others come in too.

Good video! That ice! I grew up in Burns Harbor,IN. Well , East Chicago and Hammond. Didn’t know they named a ship after the place. I remember hearing the lunch bell,whatever You call it , from the steel mills. How I love the Great Lakes 🎄🌟🙏
