Big difference between TRYIN TO BE U.S.N SEAL and actually turning out as one, that's why SEALS are ADMIRED to such a high degree. If there are a 1000 candidates ALL BUT 20-25% WASHOUT, SO, IF MY MATH IS CORRECT THAT WOULD LEAVE APPROXIMATELY 200-250 WON'T WASHOUT / the other 750-800 RING THE BELL or otherwise get their belly scratched! I believe if you even attempt to be a SEAL that's bad-ass, however if at the end of S.Q.T you're able to have the TRIDENT put on your chest that's is an experience few will ever achieve!

I dont get it. Most people will show appreciation and respect just for the fact that you've served. There is no need to pad your service record and make shit up unless you're a complete narcissistic liar with a hero complex. We all did our time and most of us did our jobs to the best of our ability. I can understand why civvies would want to play pretend, but when actual service members make shit up to make themselves look like Rambo, its an embarrassment to all of us. I had the pleasure of being freinds with an old timer who was a frog man and in the water for apollo mission recoveries. He never once brought up his service until he found out i was also a sailor. Id never claim to be a seal because I wasnt one. We just started sharing sea stories one day and I found out what he actually did. I'd be interested to know if Don ever met a guy named Pete Remillard. I haven't talked to him for a couple years but he never told me anything that I didn't think was believable.

The reason Don is unfamiliar with the BAR Banana Clips is because those were issued only to the Regular Guy Unit within each SEAL team. You couldn’t even LOOK at BAR Banana Clip unless you were a regular guy. Just saying.

Why lie about being a SEAL. I was in the Navy as a boiler tech ( fireman) those who have been in know either you go to. A school or you become a seaman, airman or fireman then the command they send you to decides what division you go to. Fireman doesn't mean your a fireman it basically is engineering department. Everyone in the Navy has to to do some fire training it's not optional or at least it was in 93. Fun fact, if you came to great lakes boot camp from March to June 93 I was the one who took you through orientation. The point of this is that I had probably one of the worst jobs in the service you could get. It sucked because like I said if you don't go to A school they can put you where ever they want.

Thank you for what you do, what you did for our country. Thanks to all here. I never had the chance to serve our country. I had squamous sicoma skin cancer on my face and it permanently disqualified me when I went to MEPS in 2007. I got records from the dermatologist stating thay after the operation to remove, it had 0% chance to come back. I submitted it to MEPS via my air force national guard recruiter (yea dont laugh too hard Special Ops guys 🤣 birth of my daughter made me want to stay stateside and becoming a weekend airman was my best choice at the time). I later tried the army. But obviously never even made it to MEPS. I was never given a waiver, and i never got the chance to serve as my brother, close friends served in Iraq and Afghanistan in the Army Navy and Marines. This sort of stolen Valor shit is enraging to me as there are many who would do anything to have the chance to serve, yet will never have the chance to serve. Yet, these fuckers go around lying about serving. Completely disrespecting my brother and friends that lost brothers in arms, as well as to me...who has had to live with the fact I will never be able to serve. Keep doing your thing, Mr Shipley. Even as a retired Senior Chief, you have been serving our great country to this day by calling out these phonies. Cheers
