Из за какой то ложки испортил столько древесины.
Wow it took you a hole tree to make a little spoon what a waste of wood
Says the fella who just spent his own time crafting a negative message. What a life, aye?
Also.......*whole
Really well organised. 🫶🏼
Nice setup!
I'd share Andy's axe. 😃
Do you use green wood?
Hello! About the sloyd knife. In this video you are using this 8,5cm full tang, but in another you use the 4". Which one do you prefer? I am asking because I have a 7cm skinny sloyd (Deepwoods), but want to go for some thing bigger. The full tang looks very nice but I also see a lot of people using the 4". Can you give some help about that. Also, do you feel some advantage in a full tang sloyd?
Hi Andy, when you can give a little help about that. =)
Hi there! So the main thing is the usability of such a lengthy edge. If you aren't used to it, it can feel quite unwieldy. I love that extra length for longer cuts personally, but the weight of the full tang, again once you get used to it, I absolutely love. I wouldn't necessarily say you feel the full impact of a full tang construction with the carving, but it has a very different balance to a lot of other Sloyds. It comes down to personal preference! I believe WCC also makes an 85mm full tang?
@@andyspoons Which size are you using in this video? In their web site they have the 85mm. Thanks for the help and considerations.
It is the 85mm, yes 🙂
Hello! Would be nice to hear about the diference between the tools, I mean you have a hook knife but it can be with tighter curve or more open, you have diferente size of sloyd knifes, what is the pro e con between then... Some thing like that would be nice. Cheers
Great idea!
Подскажите, пожалуйста, что это у Вас за топоры?
Hi there! I try to put the tool description into all of my videos, check below 🙂
@@andyspoonsI'm not attentive. Thank you🙂
Can you make an atom from the whole trunk pls
Keep watching and I just might
I like Your spoon form bro 🙂
Cheers!
Looks gorgeous.. The spoon, the surroundings! Lovely stuff!
🙌
They use that tool to cut cow hoofs its cool
Idk why but I need this tool
Why don't you carve the spoon in the reverse orientation, where the bowl is formed from from the inside of the log?
The perks of splitting a curved piece, I will be doing exactly that on the other side 😉
@andyspoons if the last message came off aggressively, I apologize, I realize in hindsight it may have sounded rude lol. Your next piece will use the face of the split that was facing the pith as the bowl, then?
All good! I've had far more aggressive sounding messages, don't worry 😂 And yes that's correct, although to be honest I don't love the aesthetic that orientation displays, so I often avoid it
@@andyspoons gotcha, makes sense. Bark up means heart wood can be seen on those smaller diameter woods, and that's preferable to bark side down for you, basically?
The actual grain pattern is a lot different depending on the orientation. Bark up gives you concentric circles, whereas pith up gives you almost more of a "ripple meeting" effect
Love watching your videos! Currently saving up for some tools so I can do a bit of carving. Curious… How long does it take you to crank (pun intended) out a spoon when you’re not worried about capturing it on video?
Hey there! Wonderful to have you here, always let me know if you have any questions. About an hour or so from log to spoon I'd say?
@, thanks for answering! What a relaxing yet productive use of time. Love it!
Was just carving a spoon and cut my thumb rlly bad with hook blade. Finally stop the bleeding and wrap it so I go sit down and this comes up on my RUclips. Thanks.
Sorry to hear about the injury! Hopefully you heal up soon, and this channel gives you a few tips!
@andyspoons haha yeah I sure need em, I see what I did wrong now. Very helpful thanks!
That leather sheath is so nice! As is the hook knife (and carving)!
Thank you!

Giving me inspiration to have a go. You made it look so easy, but I know it won't be. Brilliant thank you for showing this
So happy you enjoyed it!
Elegant shape at the end. Impressive work. Thank you for inviting us and hopefully inspiring us.
Thank you so much for watching! 🙂

lefty in action. i'm our right mind. great work made it look easy though lol that your second one right. really great video thank you.
It's not my first, I'll give you that 😉 thank you so much for watching!
Muy blanda tu madera che.te doy un cucharaso por el lomo y a la mierda tu madera Balza 😂😂😂😂😂
It's not a competition, fella 😉 that said, I usually carve Blackwood, which is no slouch on the Janka scale
I would be curious about how to add crank to my spoons. I tried a few times and all I did was make firewood. So right now I make flat cooking spoons. Thanks
I'd love to talk about that more!
I use a leather patch glued to a paddle and use green, red, and blue rubbing compounds only. My knives are literally like razors.
….but aren’t you right sided ?
Left!
🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏
Hello Which is the size of the temple montain sloyd knife?
Hi there! It is a 4" length 🙂
Thanks! Which size do you prefer 4" or 8,5 cm? I have a 7cm sloyd, but I want to try some thing bigger.
That is one beautiful spoon! So few tools (so razor sharp) and such beautiful lines. Full marks for this one. 👍💯👏 Greetings from France. God bless.
Thank you so much!
Lovely work 👏
Thank you!

Hi Andy, how long is the handle of your knife? greetings from Hennes.
Hi there! It is about 14" off the top of my head?
That curve down the handle to the bowl is fantastic!
I just stumbled across your videos Andy. Very enjoyable to watch you carve. Meditative. You have a pleasant voice and a good atmosphere in your videos. Awesome job! 😊 My channel is about historical stories. Maybe you can suggest a video idea for my channel in the world of carving? All the best from Erin 🥄
Hi Erin, so wonderful to hear you are enjoying the channel! The history involving eastern European carving has always fascinated me, I've heard of massive spoon carving workshops pre industrial revolution that would absolutely churn out spoons and the like. That and the history of UK bodgers are interesting corners of history!
@ awesome ideas Andy! I’ll definitely look into that. I am located in Norway and married to a Viking carver handyman 😅 I’m researching the Viking carving history. Might be something there for me aswell? Any ideas?
Nice swings!
Beautiful!
Youve done that a time or fifty. Nice. Will beech work well?
Beech is wonderful to work with!
Wood species?
This is Alder 👌
Very nice is that the natural color of elder because we have box elder in the United States Vermont but it’s been so long since I’ve cut one up that I don’t remember the color of the interior wood
This has been baked!
@ thank you 😊
rugged and sexy at the same time
Shiny ! Nice ! Would love to see your burnishing process !
That bowl is going to look amazing once it gets a bit of oil!
Check my recent short!
Must a been practicin . (lol) Such nice tools . Elegant lines on that spoon .
It's not my first rodeo 🙂
Wish I could do that around here. People are greedy in this part of the world. Lol
I'm sure you could still get lucky!
