Hey there! I have a FAQ video here and on Instagram that talks about ideal wood choices 🙂
Magnifique travail! ✨👍
Merci beaucoup!
ruclips.net/video/g2Ka7OTrXn4/видео.html
Beautiful
Thank you!
Where is the link?
Sorry, link for what?
Hello from Alaska! Thanks for the video talking your way through the spoon making. Very cool indeed :)
Thank you for watching!
Great video 🪓
Hi Andy, how are you? I hope you and your family are well. Absolute pleasure to watch that. I really enjoyed it lol you make it look so effortless 😂. Keep up the great videos
Thank you so much!
@@andyspoonsWhy do you start with such a huge piece of wood?
Hello from Alaska. Did you build the 'contraption' you used initially to start the spoon? The one with the green thing that held the spoon tight? Or does it have a name please? My husband could build me one. Thank you and I love all the different colors of wood. Very nice of you to share. So relaxing to watch you create cool spoons :)
Hi there! This is called a "spoon mule", I have a video on the basics, that will definitely give you a better idea of the construction 🙂
Wow
Do you sand these off when you finish carving or not at all?
Never
Andy how do we find out if/when you’re going to do a live stream in the future? Thank you
They are fairly sporadic, but I do try to update beforehand on Instagram!
Thank you Andy. I enjoy your videos very much and learn every time.
Great video! I’ve noticed you have the axe and arm close to your body, I presume that helps with control? Thank you for your content, I’m learning a lot 😁
Everything should stay as close to the body as possible, that always increases control and safety 👌
Can't believe you still have all your digits.
All 14 of them!
Your skills are amazing however you would have to be a trophy size large mouth bass to use a spoon that big.
Haha I agree! This is definitely not the final proportions, and this one might even end up as a coffee scoop 🙂
Привет! Какой угол заточки у топора?
I set mine to around 28° inclusive
@andyspoons это 14 градусов на сторону?
Correct!
@@andyspoons спасибо!
Good job !
That takes me about an hour. If I had half your skill and talent, I'd be over the moon.
Andy man, I enjoy watching you dice up spoons! Thank you sir for your channel!
Absolutely lovely, as always. Watching you work is such an inspirational thing! One question... Where did you get your shirt from? I want one! :D
From my shop! andyspoons.com 🙂👌
Wonderful! Thank you for the video. I learn every time I watch you work. Can you please tell me what you would do next to make sure the spoon is finished and ready to use? Can you use it to eat now? Or does it need to be cooked and oiled? Thank you again!
You could add wood Wax to seal the wood, but it would be fine to use straight away!
So cool! I was wondering why the chopping block. Had a shelf… then I saw why!
You carving skill with that axe is something to behold that's for sure!
Andy is that wood still wet or seasoned? It looks like firewood.
Still very wet!
@@andyspoons 👍
That blank seems so thick. Is this so that you can get narrow with the neck? Perhaps my designs have been lacking in strength because of that.
This allowed me a bit of latitude with the crank, and like you mentioned, the ability to thin the neck if I wanted to
I liked your technique, esp. starting with the back the way you did. Thanks. BTW that is the biggest spoon knife I have ever seen, I bet its great for bowls...
It is! Thanks for watching 🙂
Thanks Andy I very much enjoyed watching the process and listening in. 😊 Now I’m off to learn how you finish with baking and why Cheers!
Thanks for this, a lot of Qs answered as a beginner!
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
I love this video so much. Fascinating. Satisfying. Poetic
Your videos bring me so much peace. Thank you.
Stunning.
❤❤❤
Wow. So satisfying to watch.
I’ve just started whittling and found your advice on the axe swing really useful, can’t wait to try it out!
Happy to hear that, thank you for watching!
Andy, I believe you are a legend. I’m new to spoon carving and recently destroyed my bacho Laplander so looking for an upgrade. Can’t decide to get a gomboy or big boy curved outback. I want to be able to cut everything such as good sized trees but also making stop cuts like you did in the video. Which should I buy?
Hi there! I would recommend the Bigboy I am using in this video. I prefer the straight saw blade, as you can keep things more equal on either side of the cut. The curve is certainly great for aggressive removal, but I find the straight a better middle ground
Would love to see you do this closeup with commentary. This is an area I continue to struggle with! Great work! Cheers!
Beautiful
They say he carved it from a bigger spoon
Sweet simplicity and beauty
Andy's Poons.
It's still blows my mind that there is even enough call for wooden spoons
By the way, very cool
Looks amazing, what kind of tool are you using there?
Quite a few tools! Check some of my other videos for details 🙂👌
looks awesome! I am going to check Svante Djarv. Thank You Andy! Bye bye, Slavo from Slovakia
Video on tool sharpening?
I have a few!
I love this. What takes you 5 minutes, takes me over an hour! 😂 Practice, practice, practice...
I'm new to spoon carving and i wanted to know what is the best why to carve a spoon.. can someone tell me? great video!
I don't really understand the question, sorry?
@@andyspoonsthe best way😅
Hi Andy, Just writing to say hope you are doing well. I noticed you haven’t uploaded in a while. Not pressuring you too as life is more important, just wanted to check in as a random stranger who loves your videos and has learned a ton from you.
Hey there, I'm doing great thanks for checking in! Life like you say 🙂
