Billi mitchell y rod clement Lindisfarne 70s. Rip allan hull La voz de este gran tema
Lindisfarne was one of the best bands I ever seen
Fantastic❤
Well done on this being set straight at last! Love the sounds Ray produced and hope that you are still doing just that Ray. I have just watched an old Lindisfarne video from 1972 and what a brilliant group! Fabulous!
Always loves George's original since it came out when I was 18 years old and a freshman in college. Just saw Neil's version (2024). . It brought joy and tears (yes) to my eyes and heart. Beautiful and brilliantly moving! Thank you!
Really canny that
No ray Jackson, means no Maggie may.simple as that rod,
Not a patch on Alan and Jakko but they are keeping the music alive.
Saw them live earlier this year, still as good as ever!
Such a brilliant song. RIP Alan. ❤
Does anyone know the date of this performance?
Brilliant
Nice, harmless song...probably necessary after THIS GOTTA STOP...which caused him to even be b a n n e d by ROLLING STONE...which of course raises the question : who controls ROLLING STONE Magazine and dictates the narratives in it . When German ROLLING STONE defined the music of my 1975 lover and background musician KLAUS SCHULZE ( performed with him as a singer at URSULAKIRCHE/MÜNCHEN that year) after his hopefully FAKE NEWS DEATH announcement some years ago as AMBIENT, I really had enough .....
Ray is a star. Loved his work with Lindisfarne. Lady Eleanor has a not dissimilar mandolin riff and in my mind is a much better song. Ray was extremely entertaining on stage, singing songs written by bandmate Rod Clements, a great match to Alan Hull's singer-songwriter persona.
Different times...better times when music was just bloody good quality, raw, natural and talent running through it. We are soaked in over produced sterile impotent rubbish these days.
Love this song, so beautiful ❤xx
Absolutely underrated Seen them at the city hall Newcastle Xmas concerts
INCRÍVEL COMO UM TALENTO COMO O JIMMY NAIL SEJA UM ILUSTRE DESCONHECIDO DO GRANDE PÚBLICO. SINCERAMENTE, ESTOU O CONHECENDO HOJE, INTERPRETANDO BELAMENTE ESSA OBRA-PRIMA DO ESPETACULAR GEORGE HARRISON.
Alan Hull was a genius. His Pipedream album is a classic.
Great stuff 🎉
Rod is a jab pusher…
Great song. Love from Belfast
Mr. Alan Hull, shall be forever a pioneer, don't give me The Beatles because they are hideous amateurs, whereas Lindisfarne are the Northern Lights.
Respekt 👍👍👍👍
Ray Jackson also a fantastic musician with Lindisfarne. On some songs lead vocalist. Plays mandolin & Mouth organ & can't stop going to Parties.
Rod Stewart = Wanker! PS: just got booed at his concert in Germany for showing pix of zelenski on big screen behind him -- folks booed .big time@
As good as any song recorded by The Beatles! More than worthy of being included as a track on any Beatles album! Father, please forgive John and Paul, they know not what they did, George Harrison, gone too sone, rest in peace Amen.
Takes me back
it does have a chorus- you led me away from home etc
this should be sang in every fucking church!
I ‘m in tears, love it…..RIP beautiful George…
I went to Uni at Essex in the 80s, bollocks I missed them but I did see salt N peppa who were awesome
At 2:45 I thought for a second the ghost of George Harrison was there.
I will probably always love Rod's voice and singing (phrasing) and many of the songs he wrote but account after account shows him a selfish person who wouldnt carry equipment in the early days when all were equal in a band, and being notorious for avoiding paying for drinks. I've never been surprised that he avoided giving credit for or paying extra for this iconic mandolin piece. Led Zep were similar in not crediting that the lead-in for Black mountainside came from Bert Jansch's version of Blackwaterside.
The state's made rod
He only got 12 pounds for playing that on Maggie
Just brilliant
❤😢
I've always loved the sound of the Mando and I believe Mr. Jackson is the first time I ever heard it way back when. That led into Bluegrass and on. I honestly believe Ray Jackson is the reason a LOT of folks picked up the Mandolin. (Me being one of them) Thank you so much Sir.
Jesus wept.......... Speechless. Touched a nerve, more so than the performance at A Concert for George. Just..... Wow.
I'm not the first or last to call rod stewart a bastard, but not crediting ray for his incredible contribution to one of the greatest songs ever made, makes rod an extra special bastard!!
Stewart was a joke
He's got too much f#'king hair that drummond geezer.
Excellent
what a great voice ,,where did he go ??? Conan UK
I was there that night. Stood at the back next to Steve Daggett working a sound desk. Very emotional. Time Gentlemen Please.
Masterpiece ❤🇮🇹🤘 George 😢❤
Beatles crap lindisfarne great
Fantastic...isn't It a Pity ...
Has anyone not been Lindisfarne?
