I'm in part two right now and the thing that strikes me about his self-awareness, compared to other (younger, particularly American) writers these days is the absence of playing the victim and any psychiatric jargon. What we have instead is just an honest and seemingly organic self-reflective account of memories, thoughts, and feelings. He makes it seem simple and breezy what he's doing, but it's definitely not.

I just recently re-read Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, a book we read in freshman English class, and had very much the same revelation you present here: reading an adult book as a child without being properly prepared or have the life experience to quite comprehend the content and subtext. I think all of us could probably find a book on our middle or high school reading lists that probably hit us differently now as adults.

I have watched pretty much every video on your channel. I can tell a lot of preparation and thought goes into each video. Since you are obviously a perfectionist, and also have a very active mind things may expand and evolve beyond manageability quickly. May I suggest less editing and preparation for your book review videos. Just sit and chat a bit about books. Quite a few booktubers don't edit at all and it feels authentic and just fine. I also recommend drawing, coloring or acrylic painting. It is zen without the sitting and meditation. Health is number 1.

So great to see you back again, Erik. Shorts, naaah. I did 4 or 5 of them and stopped making them. Short stories reviews, perhaps bundle them in one nice video. (And for those who are shorts-addicts, chop them up into shorts...) Star Wars. Not watching the extra movies, not reading the books. Is that answer enough? Why, oh, why did you read King's 'It' for a 3rd time? Your reading is very different from mine at the moment (none of the books you mention I've read), but that makes it all the more interesting. Regarding the second part of your video, specifically directed at me: Thank you for your candidness. I so hear ya! You mentioned it yourself: be nicer to yourself. Being perfect?? (Indeed, a self sprung trap.) No, accept imperfection, not as a flaw but as the Yin-part of your own Yin&Yang. Right! Work on stuff that energizes you. F... viewers, F... their expectations (if such a thing even existst) and F... (excuse me) your own obsessive perfectionism. Take care, buddy. I love your channel.
