I read this about 2-3 weeks ago. Already forgot what most stories were about, but I remember having this feeling that some stories were "like King stories written by someone else". Was mostly disappointed. I like the Answer Man and The Dreamers. Those felt like stories I expected from S. K.

It's Getting Old should be the title of his next short story collection, and the cover can be a guy beating a dead horse.

I like 3 things dark: 1. My coffee roast 2. Humor 3. Stepehen King books.
Now that you mention it, when a writer has an author insert character in their novel, they always seem to sound like the author rather than the character they created. Finished Night Shift recently, and it was pretty good overall.

I'm with you on 2 & 3. I prefer light roasts. Nightshift is excellent!

Put a little bacon, lettuce and tomato on that nothing burger and maybe it will be tasty. You don't know!

Danny Coughlins Bad Dream was my fav story in the collection. Overall I loved the stories, but this story stood out for me. I also think that Jalbert is the most interesting character, but I rather felt sorry for him. At the beginning he could have been right & his intentions were good nonetheless. He’s a rather tragic character.

I'm a big fan of villains whose actions feel identifiable and ALMOST align with my own principals. Jalbert's reasons for disbelieving Danny were perfectly reasonable! I also felt sorry for him

I’ve read all but Danny’s Bad Dream (many said this was the best one) but for me, Laurie was the worst in this collection. Finn was Ok, not great but better than Laurie. So far, Rattlesnakes for me is the best…
