Your video made it comforting to climb a tree like this and literally covered every aspect that others do not. Outstanding teaching and explanation for how to hunt out of a saddle with ease. 2 words to describe this entire video: experience and intelligence. You keep it simple and use the tree and surroundings to your advantage. Very smart setup. I think I'll be saddle hunting instead of tree stand, the maneuverability of the saddle and the fact that you can conceal yourself easier sells it for me.

    I started bow hunting in the 1960s back then there wasn't hardly a tree stand around but I used to bear hug a tree go up string of the ball across my chest I killed dear that way it was hard I had to find a tree with limbs but I can stand on up yonder later on so these saddle hunting rigs are the first I've seen of it:-) I could bear hug a tree and go up 20 ft in standing on a limb with my dear rifle people would drive down the road and they be afraid to look up at the crazy guy in Orange with a 30-06 no way to get up there😊

    On average when you do bump a buck does he tend to come back?

    • @everydaysportsmen
      @everydaysportsmen 7 месяцев назад

      It depends on the nature in which he’s bumped. Every deer is different and I try and gauge how badly spooked he is based on his reaction. Like if I hear him run 50-100 yards out of sight and stop, often times he’ll be back within a few hours! However, if he tears out of there like a wild banshee and looks like he’s headed for the next county it may be days if ever before he comes back!

    • @conraywest

      It depends on where you hunt, sometimes the tree you need to be in can only be accomplished w a saddle

      Everyone is different. After having a pilonidal cyst, sitting for long periods just isn't as possible for me. The saddle helps.

    Like the pistol holster on my BAD LANDS PACKS. Not a fan of sticks though, rather rope climb, 2TC or hitch climb..If you use a lineman rope, or a running eye you are not safe and can fall.

    So you’re telling me, I can hunt out of a summit climber, that costs hundreds of dollars less than a saddle setup, weighs just as much, and is far less complicated? Are people just using these because they are the cool new way to hunt or what? I understand you can hunt a larger variety of trees over a climber, but that seems to be where the advantage stops. I’ve been researching these for 3-4 years, and I just don’t get the hype.

    • @everydaysportsmen
      @everydaysportsmen 9 месяцев назад

      My whole setup without my camera gear is under 15lbs including clothing and a bag with some snacks, and much less bulky than a climber. In my opinion, it is lighter, much more streamlined, just as easy for me to setup, quieter, and allows more shot opportunities in any given direction. These are just things I personally prefer in a saddle to a climber, but at the end of the day hunt with what works best for you! Thanks for watching and best of luck this season!

    When you tie the prusick onto the tether, if you put the fisherman's knot along side the bottom of the tether as you wrap it, it'll sit right alongside the tether and won't interfere with the carabiner...Plus it'll have a greater amount of force on it...Nice video...

    Really solid setup, question on your aiders, did you make them or buy them? Assuming they are Amsteel. This will be my third season saddle hunting and like you, it's my preferred method. The only thing I struggle with is one sticking or multi-sticking. I have not made up my mind yet which I prefer, there are definite advantages to both.
