Why you replacing your fox shocks they supposed to be good? I have 4th gen Tacoma I’m debating on king or fox performance elites Which fox don’t have a kit for my truck
I just wanted to try something new. Don’t get me wrong the Foxes were great but I wanted something that would better support the weight of the truck. AccuTune specializes in both King and Fox, so when they created their own brand, combining the best of both worlds and improving them, I had to give it a shot. So far, zero regrets. Super comfortable and perform really well.
Very good video 👍 👍😃
Impressive
This is exactly why I stopped recreational wheeling in jeeps/trucks and got a RZR for that stuff.
Got to be careful with ifs and no sway bar. Its going to be very hard to keep a toyota with tires like that and carrying much weight together flexing. I would rather have less flex and tear up less.
Now that looks like a fun trail, but damn it looks cold out there!
Cold as a witches teet in a brass bra 💀
What an insane trail!! Very impressed with your rigs, definitely not a mall crawler lol. Reminds me of when I took my rig through the second hardest trail in VT.
Thanks friend I appreciate that! Definitely a fun trail!
Awesome looking rigs! Diggin that wrap on the taco!
Thanks man, means a lot! Hopefully the wrap will last me, but at this rate I'm not too sure!
Good video! I need to get out there and complete this trail. I’m assuming you both have a rear locker at minimum, how about a front locker?
The 4R has a rear ARB locker. Nothing up front and A-Trac was offline due to wheel speed sensor error :(
Nice video. I live in Covington Va. I own a local welding shop if you need repairs!
That's awesome to know, thanks man!
Thats a pretty flamboyant scream coming from that taco
@@Yippynutsmacker It was the spicy sweet tea….. 🤠
SR5 in the house! Dayum!
He pushes that SR5 to its limits!!!
Props to both of y’all! Great video!
That was the definition of a terrible line choice at that spot. Seen plenty of guys do the same thing.
@@p.a.f.offroad7551 There were a lot of “spots”… which one are you referring to specifically?
@Bugout_Overland where you broke your cv lol.
I can't say anything tho. I've broken axles on that trail too lol. Always a great time on potts.
@@p.a.f.offroad7551 oh 100%… I thought you were referring to the driveshaft obstacle and I’m thinking “bro, that IS the only line”. Yeah the CV was simply a lack of paying attention thinking I’d made it out, and I got myself in a weird spot that put too much stress on the CV. 100% avoidable, especially had I heard my spotter saying “DONT GO BACK”
@Bugout_Overland ya the first time I did that trail I took out and axle shaft where you were hard on your drive shaft. Lack of paying attention will get you every time lol
Crud dude! That was awesome. I’d definitely need to ride shotgun to start to learn your level of skill. Sucks you broke the truck, but man looks like you had a blast doing it!!
You're more than welcome to sometime! Co-pilots are hard to come by for me haha. Idk if it's so much as skill as it is luck and big kahoonas mixed with peer pressure.. lol
Wow... you just carry an extra left and right CV joint with you on trails?
No sir, I carry two spare CVs with me normally🤣 Better to be safe than sorry!
Hey Colin, get you a set of TrakMotive CV axles. I found a set for my Tundra on rockauto. They're designed for higher angles of articulation, without the crazy price of RCVs. I've been running mine for about a year and I've noticed there is zero noise during flexy maneuvers now. Before I could always hear my CVs complaining like they were warning me not to over do it. Not anymore. I've been super happy with them.
I've actually been looking into CVJ as well, but I'll look in to those too, and maybe keep the other ones I have as spares!
I did this trail a little over a year ago and loved it! It’s definitely harder than what the video makes it out to be.
@@TrailExpedition 100%! A lot of footage had to be “trimmed” lol
@ right. I kept my video just a tad over 20 minutes. I skipped the last major obstacle as I ran it solo. Great trail.
took my skidplate off at the trailhead to take my sway bar off and accidentally left my skid behind, I had to back up like a mile lol. Did the trail twice in my 07 4runner and didn't have to break out the winch the second time
That sounds like a PITA lol
Good video 👍 👍😃
Thank you my friend!
Great video showing the obstacles. Bummer on the driveshaft. AEV makes a rear differential skid plate for Jeeps that protects the rear differential and the rear part of the driveshaft. Not sure if anyone makes a similar one for the Toyota vehicles. I am hoping that a manufacturer I am working with will make one for my truck as it definitely would help in these situations. That is definitely a vulnerable area.
Thanks man! And yeah unfortunately with long wheel bases it's more of a problem... Guess that means I'll just need to beef up the driveshafts I got and go to 37s!
@@Bugout_Overland Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully you can fit the 37s.
DRL’s are only “flashing” because of frequency. The camera picks up the lights at a different frequency than our eyes. In real life, the lights are not flashing. On camera - LED’s are the worst and look to be flashing… they are not. Just on camera! David Blane made LED lights idk ;)
@@samuelwatts225 the scenario that you’re describing is different. The leds flicker a lot faster than in this video.
Not necessarily, just depends on the frequency / frame rate. His lights dont do this in person.
Nice rigs and looks like a fun trail! But why are the 4Runner’s DRLs flashing?
All the new LED headlights do it unfortunately while filming. You can’t see it with your naked eye. Mine does the same. 😐
you remove your front swaybar? some nice articulation going on!
Thanks my friend! And yessir sway bar is gone, but took me long enough to finally make the decision to remove it!
27:00 that churc is not abandoned. You really are dork.
@@wraith511802003 thanks for the info, good to know!
15:02 not the bat cave, that is the AC cave
O this is why the trail is getting trashed. It is too much publicity.
Is that camp site around minute 7:10 on hard 7 or just after it? Trying to nail down a cool place to camp this coming weekend since I'll be in the area. Thanks for the video!
According to my Gaia map, the campsite I had marked is still technically on the "red" of Hard 7, but it's far after all the obstacles close to the end. Basically if you're riding Hard 7 from West to East as we did, you'll complete all the obstacles, and ride the ridge until it gets flat and almost turns in to pavement, then it'll be on your left.
@@Bugout_Overland Nice, thanks so much man!
I know yall have probably learned this now, but when it comes to FL water holes if you see white or gray sand your good, hard bottom no need to build up speed. Its when you see brown or black it is going to be slick.
Looks bad @$$.
Definitely some ouch sounding moments but what a blast that must’ve been.
I really enjoyed watching this install video. Nice job explaining everything. I don’t even own a Tacoma 😂. (But I am an off-road enthusiast)
Got a new rear bumper coming with some “hoops” that would definitely come in handy on the big mud obstacle with the deep rut and hillside.
Great video. Can’t wait to hit this trail on the KAT in the Red Beast.
Nice job as always! Those stock U-bolts have seen better days, this should be a nice improvement.
Yeah buddy. Good job 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 looks great
Thanks my friend!
Just got a new 4x4 and me and the wife are buying gear now to start overlanding. This route seems very scenic. Thanks for all the info. Definitely on my list since we are in N.C.
You live in RH? I am here as well.
Heck yeah man! What part?
we are over by northwestern hs. Just did the Georgia traverse last weekend. I followed you on IG. Let’s talk, thinking about Alleghany next
@ shoot me a message on IG!
I ate lunch in Monterey today. 10/29/24. I had to work on a cell tower in Franklin, WV.
Was that Flag Pole Knob that you finished your video at?
It sure was!
What a great route! I sure hope if I’m ever stranded on the trail, it’s you that lends a hand (not to mention I’d love to meet you!). Thanks for the inspiration for a future trip.
Thank you very much! And I’m sure we’ll meet at some point 😃
Awesome trip. I love those trails. What’s the rear bumper / tire carrier setup you have?
That’s a custom fabricated JC Customs high clearance rear bumper. He’s based out of upstate SC!
Very good video 👍 👍😃
Looked like a fun adventure.
great adventure video! Your wife is like mine... only goes out once every few years too!
Good Work! keep it up. 4*4 is my passion also😍
Looks like a great trip that even my stock Armada could make. I appreciate how you put coordinates. Most people I watch expect you to pay $25/mo or more for Patreon just to get coordinates and gpx files. I'll definitely check some of this out when I get out to WV.
I normally do not drop coords, however these waypoints and trails are public knowledge and public roads, so no point in gate keeping / hiding.. It’s one thing if they’re not often travelled trails, but for this kinda stuff, it’s a different story.
Will these shocks ever be made for lifted Chevy/GMC applications?
It’s certainly possible! It really depends on supply/demand, but unfortunately, there isn’t a high demand yet for Chevy applications if I had to guess, but worth pursuing I think!
Honest question, could a 2x4 with proper tires and just auto lsd do some of these trails?
I would advise against it. You can do the majority of it I’m sure, but there are sections of trail that is unavoidable that a 2WD couldn’t make it through. The truck you saw us rescue in this episode was because he was 2WD.
That huey is tippy haha it was rocking back and forth in the wind today!
Where did you get the fid?
I can’t even remember tbh.. just from some generic supply website!
