Owen, great video. I have my RM2 since almost the time you uploaded this video. I love my RM2. And now that RMPro is out, and a month worth of reviews are done, I think it is not a worthy upgrade. I am curious to know if you still have the RM2, and if yes, then do you still use it actively/regularly, and how has your workflow evolved in the last 3 years. Great review; but I recommend an updated review - a long term review, will be super cool

The point of the shutter sound is this: “Camera shutter sounds are intended to deter unauthorized photography, especially in places where privacy is at risk, like public restrooms and crowded transportation.” The legality of turning off the shutter sound does vary from country to country, though.

I was really into typewriters back in the early 2000s when I was in highschool. Growing up we didn't have a computer with internet and printer until 2001, so in the 90s I used my mom's Smith-Corona electronic typewriter from the previous decade for a lot of my school reports and stuff. I liked writing original stories and fanfics, and preferred writing them physically instead of on a computer. Around 2009 I bought a 1960s manual typewriter, but the issue was ribbons. No one carried them, and they're still an extreme pain to find where I live. I took to writing my stories longhand with a 0.7mm mechanical pencil and spiral notebooks and haven't looked back.

Someone in my life once told me that all advertisement is misdirection or seduction. And when I consider smartphones, I usually see them marketed as the latter: attractive and desirable products with the fanciest camera, best performance, or most "social" connection. While I believe anyone can be pretentious about anything, and it's possible to shout from your high horse with a light phone in hand, I think it's much rarer. Why? Well I think it boils down to the choice. Going light or dumb is a very intentional, humble choice, one which necessarily withdraws you from a lot of the worldly temptations that can funnel into elitism. Boasting would feel pretty inconsistent. And folks who have made the switch or who run companies like the Light Team, they don't talk about wanting to be cool, they talk about wanting to live life to the full. That's something I can really get behind. God bless and keep making great videos!

Not pretentious in the slightest. Everyone goes rabid for the latest iPhone when really it's been the same device for the past couple of years. Pretentious is slapping a #16 on a last year model and flexing that you have the latest one for +$1000. If that's not pretentious, I'd rather be pretentious for less.

All of these are great lessons. I'm glad you included #5. A very important lesson I learned in my twenties was not getting wrapped up in 'greater good' groups or identifying myself with them. For me, it was not just religious groups, but they were all 'greater good' types that had similar expectations of giving ourselves and energy for the movement - or else it says something bad about those who don't. The greater good groups seem to need a bad, an enemy, and need proof if someone is friend or foe rather than any grey.

I travel a lot, and the light phone 2 is not a good device for that purpose. Most places have contactless payments, tickets are often electronic, and WhatsApp is a thing outside the US. Also, as you mention, directions on the phone are not trustworthy. Light phone has to many compromises to make reliable device when traveling. There are other eink phones that provide a far better experience when traveling, in my opinion. It's a better device for USA.

Great overview! Love the notebook and writing out directions. Especially on trips, you have set destinations, so makes perfect sense and helps build that navigational skill that I have often lost when I rely too much on maps services. I'm a pre-order for LP3, I'll be curious to see if GPS has improved then.

It's very interesting and designed well, but too expensive. If they sent me one, I'd be happy to do a review on it and make more people aware of it, I'd have fun with it, but can't see myself buying one or generating much interest.
