Hahaha, yeah I remember the production for 3 taking so long, I went through the entire transition from "'Now You See Me' is my entire personality", to "Hey I'd really like to see another sequel someday", and now "...Wait, it's still happening? Why?". And I suppose you simply cultivate an extremely verbose commenting culture :P. It's nice seeing people so passionate and willing to share, so thank you too for your videos!

Oh, wait a second, I suddenly was reminded why I was so hyped about NYSM 3 before; a friend and I had a bet that the third movie will have another British actor as the villain to round out the trifecta, and we were placing a wager on whether it would be Benedict Cumberbatch (my guess) or Tom Hiddleston (her guess). She just reminded me about that and we've rekindled that bet now that 3 is apparently actually happening? XD

Personally, when I want to watch a movie that I'm boycotting I have two options: I buy the movie secondhand off a small seller online or from a thrift store, or I pirate. I don't choose pirating and don't condone it but it IS the other option. Streaming and digital sales still support a film, and studios keep an eye on films that do well in the at-home market, so if one really wants to boycott a movie but wants to watch it I would recommend investing in a dvd player or buying a playstation.

@ oh yeah i do that too! I bought a dvd of Fan4stic second hand for 1 Euro hahahahahahhaha and it was the best 1 euro i had ever spent!

And I also got Roman Polanski’s Repulsion second hand cuz there is no way i m giving that man my money 👀👀👀

@@dontmindme352 mmh tbh it’s literally the work of a critic to judge movies and help people make a fair judgement so that they don’t waste money! I agree with your sentiment in theory but in practice don’t you hate going to the cinema and feeling like tou wasted time and money? This is what my entire channel is built on, trying to help people make better decisions so that at the end of the day they feel less disappointed. I don t think when people say support cinema it means support EVERY movie that comes out. Do you actually watch movies that you know you’re not going to enjoy just for the big cause of supporting cinema? No, almost nobody does that unless it s part of your job. Like I’m going to force myself to watch the new MCU movies because I want to give an objective opinion about them. Idk I think that movie puritanism is not that useful. We don’t have to support everyone s work to support cinema as a whole. For example i wish Woody Allen would just stop making films, i wish Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis literally didn’t exist. I feel like we all have our personal reasons that make us support cinema in different ways. Thanks for the comment tho! Hope you still enjoyed the video! @@tornapart but what is the critique? these films have not even come out yet. I don't personally support every movie that comes out, but I also don't think it's my, or anyone else's place to tell other people they also shouldn't. I have seen plenty of movies I didn't think I was going to like and ended up loving them. I've also seen movies everyone raves about and hated them. Truthfully if I spent my time basing my viewing habits on what other people tell me to watch I would have felt I'd wasted more time and money, and also have missed the point of viewing films (or any art form) entirely. And that is so people can form their own opinions and use the experience to better understand the world around them. People can't do that if they're too afraid to see a bad movie from time to time. I also don't see most MCU movies any more. I probably won't see any of the movies talked about here. But that's not because you or anyone else told me not to. That is my decision. People are smart enough to make their own decisions. And if you don't think they are then how can they learn if they don't make a few mistakes? I too thought Megalopolis was a bad movie. But I don't feel I wasted my time or money seeing it. Because now I can honestly say why and not just parrot popular opinion. Alternatively I saw Joker Folie a Deux and loved it. If I'd gone based on what most of the internet is saying I never would have and I would have missed out on what I believe to have been a great experience. You may think I'm wrong for that but it really doesn't matter because I'm my own person. I think it's fine to have your own opinions, and I think it's fine to share your opinions. But at the end of the day that's all they are, opinions based on your point of view. You're not right, I'm not right, we just see things a certain way.

But i don’t think that Kung Fu Panda 4 or Ice Age 45 belong in those categories. And my entire point is also based on the discussion we have having about why do we make these kind of films? Why do we invest so much money in such awful or mediocre projects? Sequels, requels, remaking movies for the 4th time like A star is Born! Why…there are so many more interesting stories to tell and to adapt. Also I don’t make videos to convince people, I’m just adding more context around the idea of why we should start boycotting certain movies in order to show movie execs that they should just make better films and not just copy and paste ideas and make 1 billion dollars with a shit movie like Mufasa. It’s just so boring.

@@tornapart I understand from why that may apply to sequels and remakes, but you also have Electric State and In the Lost Lands in this video. Does that same critique apply to adaptations? It may look bad but you can't prove that it is. And if we're boycotting book adaptations for lacking originality then we'd have to critique the majority of cinema in the same light. I agree we need more original ideas and that there are many interesting stories that get left behind, but just because I don't think In the Lost Lands looks good doesn't mean others won't find it interesting. And if the point of videos like this isn't to convince people, why does the title of the video tell me "do not support this crap". If my comment were to say don't go see the Brutalist because it's crap, is that not trying to convince people? (hyperbole btw I don't think that looks like crap)

And listen it seems like you just don’t see the value of film criticism just in general since most of your arguments seem to be based on the idea of forming your own opinion. I honestly think that everyone is entitled to their opinion but I still have more media literacy to be able to tell if a movie is promising and deserves your time than most people! I do have a film degree and I ve been reviewing films for more than 15 years! So listen, I can definitely say I can make good assumptions on this topic! And you’re allowed to think it’s immoral or whatever it’s okay! And if you ve seen the video you know that I’ve said it time and time again to pay attention to reviews and word of mouth before going in. The boycott angle for me genuinely just applies to live action remakes because they are an actual insult to animators and all the good work they invested in making the original good and maybe movies made by rapists or sexual abusers etc ( i don t think there were any this year tho that i could think of). Also as i said in the video I m mainly talking about not financially supporting bad movies… i never said you shouldn’t watch them if you get them for free somehow. Pretty sure in the Lost Lands might be so bad it’s good why not! But Electric State is a Netflix movie so once again if you click on it they ll think they made a good job whether the film s actually good or not. And imo we should just do better. We deserve better as movie lovers. That is the actual heart of this video!

@@umjammerlammy9993 i will admit that the Paddington hate bus ride is one that seems VERY subjective at the end of the day!! Haha it’s harmless at best and not made for me I guess! I think it also has to do with the fact that I’ve lived in England for a couple of years and tbh Paddington’s England just doesn’t really exist. Like James Bond, it’s perpetuating an image of Englishness that is just ideal and not of today haha Pretty sure most Brits love it exactly because it’s warm, comfortable and detached from reality. I personally don’t like that stuff anymore, unless it’s fantasy or scifi and then I can accept it! :)

@@kwayneboy1524 I actually haven’t watched it! But from what I’ve heard from Reviews I’m not sure I’d enjoy it. It’s literally just mob stuff with extra steps! I really don’t see its appeal or why it is different from all the other mob stuff. Besides the fact that it s set in Gotham and people probably talk about Batman or Arkham once in a while.

And the riddler’s whole plan is exactly one of the things I hated the most about the movie and I have 0 interest in seeing its repercussions. It also stars the penguin? Saying the penguin show has nothing to do with the batman to convince someone to watch it is a weird take tbh xD
