How to setup the correct working pressure on a spray gun for best performance
In this instalment of GT Air Projects we show you how to correctly setup your spray gun for optimum performance, efficiency and atomisation. The extremely popular Burisch GTR500 LVLP Gravity Feed spray gun is used for this demonstration, in conjunction with the Fast Mover FMT3040 mini spray gun regulator. We’ll explain what all the adjustments do on the gun as well as explain the difference between static and working pressure and how to set it up correctly, accurately, every time.

    Do you adjust the air pressure with the fan open or closed? because on my gun this changes the air pressure. So if i set the gun pressure to 21psi with fan open when i close the fan this increases to over 30psi! conversely if i open the fan the pressure reduces.

      I would recommend setting the air pressure with the fan set to how you intend to have it setup for the spray session.

    I have a scenario where part of the air pumped on initial fill (from zero pressure till ~ 1 bar) is wasted from the control unit. Thereafter, all air goes into the tank. And there are no leaks while running or while not above this pressure. So it's not a check valve as this video is about. Do you know what this could be?

    • @gerger503
      @gerger503 6 месяцев назад

      It sounds like the pressure release valve isn’t dumping the air in the line once the air receiver is up to pressure. Every time the air receiver is up to pressure and the compressor switches off, you should hear a hiss of air being released. This is to limit the load on the motor when it restarts. If you have a compressor where the red on/off button operates the pressure release valve (like most hobby compressors) it should not be turned off at the wall socket because this doesn’t operate the pressure release valve. Doing that will overload the motor on startup and may blow fuses. Not sure if that's your problem but hope it helps.

Wall reg set to 60psi ( doesnt matter if i set it too 100psi nothing changes) ive tried with two diff gun regs and when left at 12 oclock position the working pressure is around 10psi....any help?

    • @RyanBurisch
      @RyanBurisch Год назад

      Sometimes the clocking on the pressure valve of the spray gun is not exactly at 12 o clock, turn it back and forth until you get the highest pressure reading and the valve will then be fully open.

    • @ballstank3904
      @ballstank3904 Год назад

      @@RyanBurisch its definitely the 12 oclock position. Its something to do with my hose length. If i use 5m of hose then i can set the gun up to perfect psi using the reg on the gun. But if i use total length of 13m of hose, thats when the problem occurs

    I am so very glad I found this tutorial-this guy knows exactly how to dial in a spray gun. My first time out with a cheap LVLP- AEROPRO Tools R500 LVLP Air Spray gun and I got through a gallon of Sherwin Williams Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Universal Primer on an iron fence just in time to beat the rain that came overnight. No words can express my appreciation-I would have had to scrape rust a forth time, as it has rained every single time I have gotten the fence ready to prime. Thank you so much.

    It is important to note that this is just general recommendations. The actual air pressure you need may vary depending on the specific spray gun you are using, the type of paint, and the desired finish. It is always best to experiment with different air pressures to find the one that gives you the best results. In this case he is using the GTR500 which requires 29 working air pressure while the KBS Spray Gun is much different. The working air pressure for the KBS air spray is typically between 15 and 50 psi. The specific air pressure you need will depend on the type of paint you are using and the desired finish. For example, you will need a lower air pressure for a thicker paint like enamel, while you can use a higher air pressure for a thinner paint like latex.
