the Dow drops 1,100 and the 10 yr hits 4.5% shows you how flimsy everything is. Someone sneezes in the market break room and it drops 500 pts. Someone leaves a plate of cookies it goes up 400. If unemployment goes up .3% it will be a market calamity followed by puking in the streets and self harm. Happy Holidays Mike!

Good analog for people to chew on When I was 18 I used to own a personal training business and was speaking to an older couple about calorie expenditure of walking on the gym treadmills. They were both fairly small people yet they input the maximum bodyweight into the Treadmill digital interface as that bodyweight is used to calculate calories burned during exercise. I could not convince either of them that they falsified the mathematical input so the output was not accurate. They were totally content with seeing the rosey calorie expenditure vs reality. That underscores the AVG financial literacy or lack thereof of the good ole General Public.

Thanks Mike, I like to know about reality, even if it is unpleasant to think about. Today I told my wife that at least we are getting a 2.5% increase in our social security next year. She reminded me about all the increases we have seen with insurance, utilities, food, etc., so it really isn't any kind of bonus. She handles all our finances, so she knows better than I do. I prefer not know what she does with the money, takes the stress off of me!

All the conditions for a super bull market are still intact: endless wars, fiscal stimulous, lower rates, healthy number of bears... And don't forget, as soon as Trump takes office, he'll do a record multi-trillion-dollar spending package. Then he'll order the Fed to do some more QE and bigger rate cuts. Then he'll convince the Treasury to buy billions of bitcoins because him and Eric have owned Crypto for a long time. Then he'll do some pre-bailouts for banks and offer more stimulus checks to make housing more affordable.

Everytime I hear someone blame recession, unemployment, supply chain, education, skillset etc. issues on "the pandemic," I think "Gee that actually wouldn't have happened if the government hadn't shut us in our homes." (Now, maybe more people would have died more quickly, but I'm skeptical of that, and the gov's style is more to drag the pain out for as long as possible...)

If M2 growth is weak, and the velocity of money is falling, I doubt that inflation will flare up. All across the world, bond yields are falling. The U.S. bond market will not be far behind as the economy weakens.

Won't be long until the fed is going to stop selling their bonds to buy bonds at a discount (TLT down 52% from 2020 high) and when they do all of the institutions are going to want to buy bonds because they are so cheap and they will follow suit especially when the herd starts to sell over priced stocks. That money has to go somewhere and that will be discounted assets like bonds due to their current price and safety of principal and current yields. Bonds become attractive in deflationary environments. Which if the stock market crashes we will be having.

Money only rotating and not leaving the stock market. You can see this by using the SPYG, SPYV and TLT. If we are going to have a recession you'd see both SPYG and SPYV going down as the TLT goes up. The equity money would be finding more value in the bond market. 4.5% is more attractive in bonds than a bear market in the stock market. Equity money will rotate into bonds. Follow the money.

The only reason they aren't going to hard money, is because you can't control that from a central computer

I think it’s a good idea when you try to educate people on the things like the velocity of money. You hit the nail on the head when you basically said that the rich have it locked up on their balance sheets, which is why they will be the ones lobbying for more grandiose money printing!😂
