Diamond Vibrato Shootout (For Tame Impala Fans)
Diamond Vibrato shootout using Tame Impala gear!
The Diamond Vibrato has become so synonymous with Tame Impala, I wanted this shootout to be using the famous Kevin Parker guitar sound and see how the two vibratos might differ in reaction to these other pedals.
Hope this clears up whether or not the v2 reissue lives up to the hype (spoiler I think it does!)

How do you find the correct chords kevin plays?
I learn them all by ear because tabs or any other videos cant really be trusted with playing these intricate chords KP plays correctly. Sometimes I’ll refer to old live video sessions and watch kevins hands too to see where he’s at on the fretboard. Its a long process but always worth it.

Where did you get that pick guard for the guitar?
It’s not a pick guard. It’s turquoise paint over white tape just like KP did to his Rickenbacker. Look up close ups of his guitar and you can see more in detail what he did to his.
@@TameTones you custom it yourself?, or did you get it somewhere?
I replicated it myself yeah. I just searched up close ups and looked at videos. It’s actually all just duct tape pieces shaped as a reverse pick guard then painted over. Once you see close ups you see how not clean the job is but from afar it looks cool haha.

There aren’t any accurate ones. I learned all of these by ear and watching live videos.

Great Work! I made my own approximation from scratch when I first heard the bagpipe samples. So great to finally see someone else fighting the good fight. I just tried your method, sounds great! I find it to be even better if you use the Full Range amp model rather than the VO Lead, you get more of that high end fizzle!

Hi man, great video as always. Wich type of reverb (room,spring,plate,..) do you use for kevin tone?
As I put in the video I stick with the Holy Grail reverb which is the only one he tends to use 99% of the time. And always on the Hall mode.
