    I need to get 3 phase to my home shop. Been researching phase converters and found the same one you are running. I am leaning that direction over a rotary, same price and I get a voltage doubling unit built into the Phase Perfect. Nice set up man

    You can just use spade connectors to plug the wires into the caps

    • @BlueFinCNC
      @BlueFinCNC 2 месяца назад

      No, you can't, I spoke directly to the factory service tech. When Phase Perfect first started it's production they used spade connectors, vibration and variable current loading causes a resistance change and voltage change on the poor quality loosely connected terminals and trips an error on the unit. They modify the connection to screw on terminals to avoid this problem.

    Hi Split, I have really enjoyed your video and have watched it a bunch of times. It sounds like you are successfully running that VF-2SS with the 20 HP rated Phase Perfect and 60A breaker? That is pretty awesome. I was thinking that you would need a Phase Perfect 30HP rated phase converter and something like a 175A breaker? I find that kind of daunting! After all these years, is everything still running well? As far as having low voltage, I've had two shops (that also lacked 3-phase power, where one leg of 240v would be low - like in the high 90V range. It was discovered by an electrician when I was installing some new equipment. The utility made fast work of fixing it - but we lost a lot of motors and computer power supplies along the way. In the other shop, one leg would just go away, and I would have brown outs, or half the 120V things in my shop would just go out. Thank you for making these videos!

  • @earlkonig
    @earlkonig 8 месяцев назад

    I think your breaker and wiring is too small. I think the recommended breaker size is 150 amps. For that phase converter.

    The bottom of my bowl has become thin and that is where the leak is coming from. Any idea on how to melt this material to the entire bottom of the bowl? Maybe a torch? Oh, and where else can you buy this type of plastic?

    • @split141x
      @split141x 10 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately if the entire bottom has worn out I’d recommend swapping bowls, or might be time to upgrade to a larger metal style tumbler. There isn’t much in the $300-1000 price range that is really worth it. Mr deburr is a nice option but it’s a big ask for any small operation. If you’re set on trying to repair it the bowl is made out of polyethylene. Look up a local plastic supplier in your area and go to their facility or give them a call. They often have cheaper drops or scraps for sale from bigger sheets. Buy a piece of polyethylene big enough to cover the area you need. A torch should be able to soften it enough to bend it to shape. You’ll want a soldering iron to melt the pieces together though. You can also get plastic “welding” rod that would help with the repair. Finally if you find you’re wearing bowls out really fast switch to a less aggressive media, use more liquid, or separate the shaft counterweights so they run more balanced. That means less aggressive tumbling but the bowl will last longer.

    • @split141x
      @split141x 10 месяцев назад

      Some of my research leads me to believe the older blue ones are very reliable. All and all, I hesitate to say mine is unreliable in general because the conditions it’s operating in might be sub optimal. When it works it works well and without fuss, I’m just slightly annoyed with the overall situation.

      @@split141xI have a 20 Horsepower blue box. 2008 year model, I just changed the capacitors for the first time ever last week. But it has seen very little use over the years. I bought from PP directly and they were $30.00 each. Using the screw on terminals is important, spades won't work, see my other reply above.

  • @Zebra66
    @Zebra66 11 месяцев назад

    The low voltage issue won't be caused by the power supply from the grid. It will be from using the wrong vfd. A 15hp 3ph 240v vfd is fine for a 15hp 3ph 240v motor if you have a 3ph power supply. You'd want a 25hp 3ph 240v vfd if you are running it on a domestic 240v 1ph circuit. But, if you are only cutting aluminum then perhaps that big motor is a waste of power. You might work quicker with a high speed less powerful spindle.
