    Good build but if I had to pick one important bit it would be the chimney. Without a good draft oil won't burn and then you need to use a blower and they are noisy. To get one working like yours is truly a piece of art. Nice job.

    I bought my first Scag two years ago. I was so impressed with it even though it was not a commercial grade unit. The Freedom Z. This year I bought a Tiger cub that had been taken out of service with neglected oil leaks and abused wiring hacks. These level mower is now 12K I did a lot of additions to it here is a few. ruclips.net/video/jl85STo8j3I/видео.html

    That poor doggie is hungry....looking for his dish. I used one, and burned it out in a couple of months, switched over to a cast iron pot. I put some lava rocks from a gas BBQ grill in it...seems to last. Similar burner design.

    Thanks for the review. I just bought myself one just like it. I didn't know most of what you talked about in this video. Good job. I put 5 gallons of gas in it, and wondered how much more it would take to fill it. Now I know.

    You should fill the top side of the air compressor tank with sand so it heats up and radiates heat longer like aa thermal battery. Just seal off that plate you welded in and put the pipe through so sand doesn't fall down. Should hold 40 lbs. Also I'd just use 2 brake discs instead of the dog bowl. Plate off the holes on the bottom disc for the studs from the other side and you have a much thicker base. Weld the 2 together with the offset facing outwards.

    • @NoOneButRonPaul
      @NoOneButRonPaul 8 месяцев назад

      Great idea for the sand battery. And the weight, one never knows how heavy things can get. I'm currently seeing a trend of stainless right now and it seems they work well. I assume that it'll just take a little bit longer for the burner to heat up? Could you please explain this "Weld the 2 together with the offset facing outwards."

    Ahh yes, add more holes. Lean is good. Lean is hotter. Lean is less fuel. To many holes and you lose heat, draft, flow. As an engine guy, I see gas density playing a part.

  • @marcbolducrealestate
    @marcbolducrealestate Год назад

    I know this is an old channel but it seems like you’ve made a lot of improvements. What it seems to me is if you had a pressurized tank somehow, with a valve that opened and closed as pressure built and dropped it would spray the fuel aiding in complete combustion.

    Thanks for your video. It just confirms what I think about SCAGs. I just bought a used Cub that has a few issues I can deal with. I bought this 48" to go with my 72" Turf Tiger. I had a 52" Tiger Cat 2 which I loved, but I wanted the biggest deck for the wide open spaces I have. I realized that the smaller deck was needed for the several stands of small trees which I have on the property. The Turf Tiger could almost get them, but not quite as well as the 52'. Then I went for a 36" Liberty Z which was a mistake. That one is not anything like their commercial mowers. I'm spoiled I guess, so it's gone. That's when I went looking for a Cub. SCAGs are the best from my experience and they are so nice to work on. It took a while, but I finally found one that's very nice, but as I said, has a few issues. Yours could easily sell for $4 > $4,500 if you put a shine on it. 700 hours is nothing provided you have taken care of it along the way. I'm dealing with rough ground and the occasional rock, so I'm hard on these mowers, but they are thoughly cleaned and checked after every use so they always look nice.

    Did you have to drill holes in the rotor or how did that go together in the bottom could you show that or tell me how you did it in the very bottom you said you got a dog dish and a rotor but the oil drip pipe likes like it's going right on top of the rotor You're the brakes right

  • @49thoffgrid

    I think im going to build upon this! I think if you had the vent pipe running through a tube of water (like an off grid hot tub) you could extract more heat from the system! then you could pipe that holding tank of warm water into the ground in super cold climates and use it to melt snow or heat greenhouses!
