Toxascaris leonina
Toxascaris leonina is one of the quickly growing parasites. Within a week or two, we can see a fully grown larva inside of egg (even if you keep the sample in the fridge or fixed with 10% formalin solution)

Dermanyssus gallinae (poultry red mite)

These mites were found on backyard chickens. These mites spend much of their life cycle away from their host (commonly chicken). The adult and nymph only visit birds to feed, mainly at night. You can see how fast they can move!!
Aelurostrongylus abstrusus L1 in a cat

Fist stage larvae (L1) of Aelurostrongylus abstrusus were detected by a centrifugal flotation test on a fecal sample collected from a 2-year-old domestic short haired cat. You can clearly see the kinked tail with a dorsal spine. CLASSIC!! :)
Dictyocaulus viviparus in a 4-month-old calf

Lungworm (Dictyocaulus viviparus) adult worms were recovered from the lung of a 4-month-old calf. Larvated eggs were observed in the uterus of a female worm, and larvae were found by fecal flotation and Baermann examinations. You can see characteristic dark food granules in the intestinal cells! COOL :)

Ichthyophthirius multifiliis cyst (suspected)

This ciliated fish parasite was recovered from a tetra fish that was weak and having a few white spots on its fins. Sizes varied from 50 um to 150 um. Based on the size variations and clinical symptoms, Ichthyophthirius multifiliis was suspected, however, characteristic morphology of C-shaped macronucleus was not observed well unfortunately.

These mites were recovered from a pet rabbit in San Jose, CA. Crazy how fast they can move!! You can see, adults, juveniles, and egg in this move.
