Learn How to Sew a Crossover Apron with Free Embroidery Download - DIY Tutorial
Great quick tutorial. Worked a treat with plastic trim removal tool to remove the base of the bobbin holder without damaging the machine. Thread popped right out after struggling with it beforehand
I’m so glad it helped
Thank you soooo much. I got my very first Janome sewing machine and it’s still a puzzle to me. I panicked when the thread got tangled under the bobbin and I couldn’t clear it. Your tutorial calmed my nerves and solved the problem!
I am quite sure that what you thought was stabilizer in the box was actually a moisture grabbing sheet. I have had a few orders (1 recent) with those enclosed. They do the same job as compared to the little packs that sometimes come with thread orders.
Can you do a video doing a mem function button hole, I find with the R foot button holes are not always consistant.
I will try. However, I’m not an expert
@@frecklefacedfabrichead9959 No worries, you explain quite well in your videos
How do I change my text from vertical to horizontal
I’m on vacation in Mexico now but I will send a picture when I get home
Do you know if there is a manual way of doing a button hole on the Janome without the button hole foot, I find that when I have a series of button holes to make it is not always consistant.
Use the buttonhole function on the machine. It remembers the size for every one. Should I make a video for that?
@@frecklefacedfabrichead9959 Please do!!!!
@@frecklefacedfabrichead9959 Yes, please do!!
Thank u. Cute bag. What canvas fabric oz did u use? 6, 8, 10?
I used a 10 oz canvas drop cloth from Harbor Freight.
I am thrilled to have found and watched this informative video about removing thread from under the bobbin winder on my brand new Janome. Thank you!
I hope this helps
Are you still making videos?
I haven’t made one in a while. I need inspiration.
If you are still sewing video and tslk about the project that you are making. I would personally love more directions on using the embroidery side of the machine. @@frecklefacedfabrichead9959
Thank you so much for making this video. You just saved my life 😊
Glad it helped! Happy Sewing!
I know this video/series is some years old but I need you to know how drastically you are still helping people!!! I was so lost before your videos
Thank you so much for the encouragement. It is good motivation to produce some new content. I'm always open to suggestions.
Thank you so much. Your videos truely help me a lot.
Happy to hear that! Thank you for the encouragement. I do need to make some newer videos.
Why do you pronounce Cricut as Cricket? WTF!
LOL. Feel free to share how you think it should be pronounced.
thank you !
You're welcome! Happy sewing 🧵
Bless you! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
I hope it helps. Happy sewing!🧵
Oh my goodness friend!! This video is a life-saver!! My thread was impossibly twisted around under my bobbin winder! I would have been there for a week getting all the thread out! I have the S6 and the light grey plate popped right back on when I was done. Thank you, thank you!!!
Yeah! Well done you!
Thank you. It’s very helpful to see you navigate around the machine and explain what you’re doing. Hope you keep making videos. Very informative
Time has really flown by since my last video. I should make some more. Let me know if you have suggestions for topics.
Thank you! Very helpful video.
It makes my day to think my terrible videos are helpful for others.
I think they’re great. I’ve had my machine for over a year and I’ve been reluctant to try embroidery. Now I’m going to give it a go. Thanks again!
You have given me the courage to finally attachment the embroidery unit after 4 years. I have a friend who just lost her husband who needs an embroidery project for Christmas projects for next year. Onward!!
Go forth and conquer!
Thank you you are a great resource for information the manual is not very good.:):)
I’m so happy you found my channel helpful. Happy sewing.
Thanks for this video you took the fear out of trying for myself.
I’m so happy to hear that. You can do it! Happy sewing!
Huge thanks to you for making this video. You saved my wife's sanity and her sewing machine.
Hurray! I’m so happy it helped.
Hello, what is the name of the tweezers with which you lifted the winder spindle? I need that!!
I don’t know what it is called but I buy them in the beauty eyelash section of the store.
Why did they not make a larger one? The Bernina has a huge one.
This is the smallest one. There are two others with the largest being 170mm x 200mm. I wish there was a larger hoop but the price difference is considerably higher.
I am talking about a larger free-arm hoop. there was no reason not to. at least a 4x4. @@frecklefacedfabrichead9959
Thanks for making this simple yet very helpful video 😊
Thank you for your feedback. I hope you found it helpful. Happy sewing!
You said you treat yourself to pre-wound bobbins, where do you get them them and are they specific to the the Janome MC 9850 or just to Janome? ~ Evelyn
I buy the newbothred pre wound bobbins from Amazon or the Clarks pre wound bobbins at my local fabric store called Joann Fabrics
Thank you. I have a Joann Fabrics near - one of my favorite places to shop! @@frecklefacedfabrichead9959
Thank you!
I hope you found this useful. Happy sewing!
Hi, Which hoop size are you using if you don’t mind sharing. I just bought myself a Janome MC 9850 too. Thanks
For this particular video I used the RA20a hoop which has an embroidery area of 170mm x 200mm. RE20a (170 x 200mm) | Part Number: 861803509/861803602. I have the smaller square one, SQ14a (140mm x 140mm) | Part Number: 86180440. I also have the tiny free arm hoop that is good for cuffs or small areas. FA10a (100mm x 40mm) | Part Number: 861402205. I have other videos using all of these.
Curious about the purses you were making, can you show one?
I make different patterns. You can see some on my instagram @frecklefacedfabrichead
I was on fb a little while ago. Someone was posting that there was a file that she wanted to purchase that wasn't listed as jef, probably be cause it was to big or to dense. She had people telling her she could use the dst file. Why would someone say that? Kind of mean I think.
Honestly, I don’t know how to use a dst file on my Janome machine. I can’t say that I’ve done it successfully. That doesn’t mean it can’t be done. It only means I have not done it. When I buy embroidery designs online I only buy .jef format.
Thank you, after I posted this I realized I was more venting than asking a question. Thank you for your fast answer. 🙃
Are you using paper towel for stabilizer? Haven't heard of that.
I often use paper towels when I’m testing out a design. Works great 👍🏻
Please help me with the name of the open source software that you used for the embroidery
Inkscape with the inkstitch plug in. Check the video description for the links. I’m not affiliated at all.
Thank you. I'm not very good at computer stuff and this helped.
Glad it helped! Happy sewing
You will have to check your videos could not see any of the video at the machine 😫
Oh no! I’m sorry. I don’t have anyone to help me with camera so it is just me trying to hold a camera
I am so happy I found your video. I thought I would have to take my Skyline to a technician to fix this. I managed to get the flange off -- after several tries and nearly giving up - but I did it! Thank you so much!
I’m glad it saved you a trip to the shop. My shop always keeps it too long!
Thank you❤🎉
I’m happy to help
Great videos. Can you make words longer than 6 words? I was thinking of some Ojibwa words that are 13-16 letters long…
It all depends on the size of the letters. The limitation is the embroidery area within the hoop. I have used large lettering for words that wouldn't fit in the hoop size, so I had to do the whole thing in two separate hoop stitchouts.
@@frecklefacedfabrichead9959 thank you! Great to know! Tyvm fir your videos!
@lavendersage5937 you are very welcome. I’m happy to help you enjoy your machine.
What are the cutting dimensions for the bag?
The dropcloth is 48 inches wide before cutting off the rolled edges. I cut 24 inches of the length and then trim off the rolled edges. So it ends up being 24 x 47 when all the edges are removed. Then I cut two 3” x 24” handles from the 47” width. Which ends up being 41 x 24 for the main panel. The first and last cuts of the dropcloth will end up being about 23” because you have to remove the rolled edges on the ends. If I were doing to use 44” fabric, I’d cut the main panel at 24” x 44” and then sub-cut 6” for the handles. Making the main panel at 38x24 and a bag that was less deep. Check out my blog post at frecklefacedfabrichead.com/uncategorized/how-to-make-6-reusable-shopping-tote-bags-from-a-6-99-cotton-canvas-dropcloth/
I bet the canvas will take dye real well.
@@roshandachark7820 I haven’t tried it yet but what a great idea.
If the canvas is 100% cotton you can sublimate on it.

Hi can you please help me with what software you using I am having trouble too in my file
I use a free open source software called Inkscape with a plug in called Inkstitch to digitize. However, there are several free apps like Stitch Buddy you can use to open the file and check the size, but you have to pay to edit 😏.
Thank you so much for making this video! I've had this machine for a couple of years now, and have been too scared to even attempt embroidery with it! I'll give it a try, as I play the video. Thanks again.❤

I don't understand the booking you are referring to.
What format you buying embroidery design It’s very beautiful
This machine uses .jef and .jef+ format. This design was free from the Janome site. The link is in the description.
Thank you so much for this, I was at my wit’s end trying to figure it out. ❤
Me too ! I just want to help other people dealing with the same issues. I’m so happy to help.
Thank you. I was wondering how to do this with my 9850.
Do not be discouraged if your first attempts don't look great. You will develop muscle memory and it will start looking better soon. Enjoy!
Thank God for you. On my own, the instruction manual is not enough.
You are sweet. There is a Facebook group for Janome Memory Craft 9850 owners and they are very active.
Having trouble with using sticky stabilizer and getting needle gunked up so that thread breaks. Any suggestions there?
I have that same trouble with certain adhesives and double sided tape so I avoid that. I have better luck with wonder under or fabric glue sticks for appliqué and in the hoop Embroidery.
Wish I could hear you. Not sure if its me sorry
Sometimes when I have trouble with volume I use the CC option for subtitles. I have been trying to speak louder for my newer videos. Maybe I should remake this video.
Thank you for your videos. I have had my Janome 9850 for almost 2 yrs and am an avid quilter but have yet to use embroidery features. Thanks for instruction and inspiration.
I go through phases and binge quilt. I am glad my bad videos were helpful.
