Mind in Kingston organises weekly walks to help beat the blues
Since the pandemic, Mind in Kingston (Mind), a Kingston-based charity, has been organising walks every Monday in local parks to help service users overcome mental health issues.
Barbara Crow, chair of Kingston Ramblers and a keen walker, reached out to Mind in 2021 to become a voluntary walk leader and has never stopped since.
“We encourage people to come as you are. Walking is good for you physically and mentally.
“It’s getting out in nature, it’s enjoying just being outside. For me personally, that is a real vital part of my own mental health,” said Crow.
Initially, the walks attracted fewer numbers but over the course of two years, the number of service-users have increased.

I don’t think it’s right to demolish Kingston’s biggest estate, people have made friends, it’s a community. People made a home in this place, I know it’s getting old it’s okay the only major thing that happens on the estate was a stabbing and a fire! Just refurbish them, don’t just judge by the outside. Estates hold a good bit of the people in London I don’t think it’s fair to be doing this to thousands of residents!
They`ve been talking about demolishing that Estate since the late 1990`s I think it was first opened up in 1969
I have considered Esher and Walton might be a possible constituency for me to stand in in a future general election, as a Liberal Democrat candidate. Although I might have a disadvantage, because the constituency is home to a large number of Chelsea footballers and I'm a Liverpool supporter!
