dont use these controllers for fighting games but it seems like the razer dpad + hori octa gate would be my preferred controller if such a thing exists

Your video actually helped me find a great controller. i've seen so many videos about the razor raion and so many have many complaints and negative reviews of it. But you convinced me to try the raion out, and i can say its the best fighting game pad for me. i unfortunately got the old version with no pivot, but even without it i was having a great time with it. I did look up a DIY way of adding a pivot, which wasnt hard to do for me as my first pad mod. Thank you for the video!

I’ll never understand why someone would choose to use the dpad with the first joint instead using the thumb. Like you might as well use your elbow on the dpad😅

Glad you got the updated Raion, i'm tired of seeing reviewers get the non pivot version, the controller seems perfect with pivot, do oy u think Victrix BFG is as good or better than Raion?

Glad I found this. Closest thing to a Honda guide to matchups I've found. The commentary (I had close captions) was good. Looks like MP or other stuff into target combo (LP>MP)>M Headbutt is really useful. And safejump HK after in the corner. Impressive wins, & nice round 2 & super parry vs FChamp. Great vid. Thanks.

I have a Fighting Commander 4. It's a great controller, but so hard to get nowadays. It's either just not available online or it's close to $200. I got mine for $50 a few years ago.

5:09 this is the biggest issue with the analogue stick on this controller. It misses diagonals all the time. The Victrix BFG pro is a really nice stick especially when you replace the gate around it, but the travel distance of the stick to the edges is too long. The hori octa pad is perfect apart from the diagonals on the stick, so if a controller could combine the responsiveness of the victrix stick with the travel distance of the hori octa stick and make the rest of the controller like the octa, then that would be perfect.

I'm here from Tekken community. Which pad would be the best for classic Mishima movement? I'm struggling with diagonal inputs on Xbox pad.

Feel like the whole reason you'd buy a fighting game related pad would for the d pad. So if its a weird d pad it just isn't worth for me. Snes d pad had it sussed

I know this video came out awhile ago, But thanks anyway. I just switched to Honda and this is very useful now that im hitting Plat 4 (I'm almost 59yo, yes I suck..lol). My lack of reactions aside, i've found Honda to be a very fun character this game who I hope get s a few minor buffs in season 2. There's lots of Combo vids, but this actually shows how to get a "flow" going with him which I am struggling with. THANKS!

2:50 its def the way you use your thumb. I get issues with that as well but i used the tip of my thumb(i bend it at the knuckle to play. Every ps4 pad has some sort of like zone where d to df inputs kinda are overlapped. i more so saying sometimes a controller will only register down for a very precise section of the dpad. like a little sliver

i map my controls on keyboard like a fake hitbox *spacebar is jump* and this is helpful, thanks from two years later!

I have a Fighting Commander 4. Haven't seen much use, just didn't get anything out of it compared to DualShock 4. With DualSense being even better and just fitting perfectly in my hands I don't think I'll get the Octa. I want to want it because surely it's better than the stock but I don't really believe it is. I just have zero issues with DualSense.

I have a ps4 controller. I really don’t like it. It drops diagonals A LOT. Even in training mode doing something like a diagonal jump kick, that’s the goal, it’ll drop it so many times. And in like tekken, there’s stances that require a button or 2 + a diagonal direction and even in training mode it’s a crap shoot for if it comes out, even if Im dead ass looking at the controller while i do it. I opted for a hitbox like controller off of amazon for like 70 bucks, a haute42. It’ll be hear Feb 10, so I hope that’s good cuz that way A i’ll never drop a button again / B if I do it’s 100% because of me not some controller or nebulous zoning on said controller. The only thing I fear is maybe it’ll be really harsh on my tendons but i’ll wait to see.

The Raion like other Razer products are garbage. I have the Hori and it is still working. I paid $90 for the Raion when it was released because I thought it mimicked a joystick but after seeing videos of taking it apart, it's pure junk. Hori all the way!

Oh, so that's why u hate the hori octa5 cuz ur not plaing tekken. Dude, im in love with mine cuz i bought it for playing tekken, and i rather use the dish dpad for being able to input direction cuz man if the ps4 dpad feels like shit. I was born with the first controller i ever used was a red dish dpad no analog ps1 controller
