Well, this is a completely erroneous post. Had you paid attention as a child, you would have remembered Sunday School classes. At every mass 7 days a week, various times throughout the 24 hours in a day, there is a mass going on somewhere around the world!! As an adult, when you paid attention as an adult, you would have recognized THE BIBLE IS READ AT EVERY MASS! The entire first part of the LITURGY (MASS) is an OT reading, Psalm, NT reading and a Gospel and then a homily!!!!! How could you walk away from the EUCHARIST BODY AND BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST! I believe you need to really educate yourself fully on the Catholic Church. The mass is not there to entertain you. Rather it is you participating in the community to worship God! The Mass you profess that Catholics don't engage with in the bible/scriptural is ENTIRELY out of the Scripture. The Bible is covered completely within a year if you go to daily mass. You're also not getting the entire scripture using a KJV. It's MISSING 7 books that were removed after the Protestant Reformation. Fr. Chris Alar. Mass scriptural walk through may help you come to understand that. I was there with you. For me (without dishing any details) it was a life-transforming experience. I came to the set of The Chosen after leaving a high control religious group (aka cult) and, unlike almost everyone there, I was not part of a church. I came across The Chosen after leaving that group and was deeply touched by its depiction of Jesus. When the call for background actors came out I knew that I had to be a part of this. I had no idea of what to expect or how I would be received. That week changed my life. I met the kindest and nicest people and God opened my heart to share with them my background, something I never intended to do. I could not have met more understanding people, so much so that I was moved to tears frequently, something that again I never intended to do. Now, months later, I keep in touch with my Chosen Friends in a text message every day where we share thoughts from the Psalms. I may never be seen in Season 5, and if that happens I’m ok. For me the most transformative moments happened in that tent every day.

How to do you find out how- where to look to find the opportunity to be a background? Im 70 and would love to do this! No one seems to want to share how they got there

Hi Shey. Just discovered your channel. Very exciting to listen to a fellow chosen maniac. I can't ever be an extra due to time constrictions at my line of work (teacher) or go to Chosen Con, but I got to be on the volunteer translation team for 3 seasons until "Come and See" took over. A fellow Chosen maniac and I were mad enough to dream of going to set and travel all the way from Austria to the US for the first time ever, just to walk the streets of "Jerusalem" in Goshen, and we did (August 2023). We missed wrapping up filming by 3 days, but it was a wonder we were even allowed to go see it without set dressing or actors. There were only a handful of people with us, and one of our guides that day was assistant director Adam Drake. I was so overwhelmed with actually standing on set that I didn't grasp until much later who he was, or I would have bombarded him with questions about his experience with filming. And this year we were mad enough to do it all again, but for "Fauxpernaum" in Midlothian. Last time it took us a whole year to plan and secure everything. This time we did it in 4 days. 😀 So, I hope we'll see you in person in August at the retreat. I'll definitely be on the lookout for you. I'm Erika by the way.

Thank you for sharing your experiences as a background player. I, too, was blessed to be a Season 5 background player and loved the experience. I was in Utah for 12 days and on set 8 days. I totally agree with you about the loving atmosphere on the set. They took great care of us. I met so many loving people. How blessed we were to witness the actors perform, especially Jonathan. Good Afternoon Shey. It seems like you were in the middle of watching Season 3 when you did this interview. As always you hit on something I could relate to. I grew up Catholic too and I've learned more from The Chosen than all my schooling and Church. Mass was 45 min and out. The Homily then a little Gospel reading, kneel, get up, kneel again. I did like what your guest said about Jesus finding him. That's what I tell my friends, I didn't find Jesus, He wasn't lost I was, He found me.! So many things in the show are relatable in our lives. I'm reminded every day just how blessed I am. Things I have prayed for have happened. I'm still waiting on that Peace and Love all over the world request 🤭🤞✌️💞. I'm not a church goer but I'm at Church every morning. I have an app on my phone. I'm like Shula when Jesus told her to pray alone in your room. I was happy to see her get a healing and Barnaby. Wouldn't mind that for my arthritis. I bought 4 shirts and a hat so that's how I support the ministry. I do wish I could afford more. Hope we don't have to wait 6 months to hear from you again. G 😇😇 D Day Shey, This was my favorite episode of Season One for all the reasons you mentioned. Just this morning 🌄 I was on the Bible App and the passage from Jeremiah came up that Simon said to Gais. Jeremiah 2- 12+13.Hope that's not a spoiler 🤭. The Father absolutely provides for the Faithful. I am unable to work and I have a roof over my head and food to eat. OK, yes I'm on SSD but with 1/2 of the money I made when working I'm totally provided for. I am the bird that doesn't sow or reap yet The Heavenly Father feeds me. I'm still learning to, it's all so wonderfully confusing. Hope you have new programs coming "Soon" I'm going finish catching up with you by the days end. I'm so glad to meet you. Hi again, If Thaddeus and little James were at Shabbat dinner before Jesus did the Miracle with the fish 🐟🐟.on the boat. How is it the Andrew is credited with being the first to be called by Jesus.? Another thing I noticed is you, like me and my friends, you talk about the Chosen as if you are discussing people you know in your own life. We know them through the Bible but it's done in a way where it's like you are watching a documentary. I've seen every episode at least 10X's. OK, I'm done for today. Good Day, I know why He told you to start this program. It was so people like me have a place to go. Sooooooooo many of the things you talked about are almost like you are reciting the words in my head. Like Schmuel said to Nicodemus. I too have experienced the hand and white robe vision. Mine was in a dream and His hand came out of the darkness for me to take hold of. I looked at the outstretched hand and said, But I'm Afraid. A voice from the darkness said, After All I Have Shown You, You Still Have Doubts.? I took hold of His hand and never let go. I'm stocking up on tissues in anticipation of Season 4. So many of the things and feelings you get from the show I can relate to. I couldn't agree with you more about not being able to understand what is happening to you and how to articulate it to others. But it's there.! Good Day and Happy Pentecost. In this episode Thaddeus and little James are on the shore and obviously followers of Jesus. So why is Andrew considered to be the first called when Thaddeus and little James were there already. Jesus met them before He was at the shore. So I'm saying that Thaddeus and little James were called B4 Andrew and Simon and John and Big James. Can someone out there please help me understand this. Have a Blessed and Beautiful Day.✝️📖✌️💞🙏

So how come do you want Jesus to save you if he couldn’t save himself? 🌹♥️

I think this podcast is also helpful. I tried to get my mom to watch it but there’s so much going on in the first episode and so many characters introduced. She had a hard time maintaining interest and understanding what was going on. I sent her this link to your podcast, after she watches we are going to try and watch episode one again. Shey, this was awesome! I enjoyed it a lot. I related to Mary a lot in episode one and I cannot get through that episode without ugly crying. I think Mary was not only possessed with demons, but also haunted by demons of her past which I think we can all relate to. We all have our personal demons or a past that haunts us. I could be wrong, but it seemed they eluded to her having been raped by a Roman soldier, and then she had the drinking problem not only from being possessed but as a result of her personal demons from her past. And when Jesus steps in and saved her, it’s just the most beautiful releasing moment. Every time I watch that scene. I feel like I’m Mary and he’s doing this for me at the same time. I just feel so loved by Jesus in that moment. I wish I could harness that moment and keep it with me all day every day. ❤

Thank you for taking the time to share your views and, more importantly, for launching this podcast. The Chosen is one of my favorite series for many of the reasons you mentioned. The actors are brilliant. They add a very human perspective to the Bible stories we have read and heard about for many years. People who don't know Jesus will see him in a much different light as someone with great compassion and humor. Bored again Christians -- those people who attend church regularly, but walk away uninspired -- will love The Chosen as well because it portrays what Christianity is supposed to be like. People who are strong in their faith will love The Chosen because it will open many doors for them to share their faith with others. The Chosen is one of the best evangelism tools I have seen in quite some time. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of your episodes!
