    RU will ultimately hire an AD. But I see this playing out on a elongated timeline especially if Holloway exits in 2025. You say that the Holloway and the BOG supports athletics. I think that to be true. But still no Jersey Mike's arena renovation. Still no Athletics Master Plan. Baseball had to go off campus to plug into decent playing facilities. The Rutgers AD job comes with tremendous opportunities but massive challenges. The biggest challenge is not so much that Athletics is in the red. It's that the University is in the red and state funding has flatlined. It's likely a key component of Holloway not looking to renew. Final point. You mentioned Wildstein and his publication the Globe. He published a New Jersey Power 100 list. Note that there is no one from Rutgers on that list. It's just one data point. But it actually tells us a lot!

      I would say at the skilled positions usc has superior athletes. With the exception at running back. However, if you were going to grade players for where they are at now. I would take Rutgers O line over USC's as a whole. Rutgers needs to shorten game, play like they did last year on offense and generate a pass rush, which is the missing piece. Our linebacker room is also equivalent to there's.

    What happened with Hobbs is a personal failure and given just that, I would think the University could shake it off pretty quick and easily. But, the second piece to this story is whether the gymnastic student athlete complaints were suppressed or minimized as part of the first piece of the story is a whole other thing. And if those students decide to bring suit, this will get worse than it is now before it gets better.

    The gymnastics program seems to be a total mess, poorly coached and abusively run. So if Hobbs had anything "to do" with that program , then that will be his downfall. But your point, that Rutgers has been historically filled with scandal, I think you are very narrowly speaking. For example, Michigan State head football coach's recent affair, Michigan sign stealing, and Harbaugh being suspended twice in same season. Their basketball coach slapping an opposing coach in the handshake line and then wanting to fight the strength and conditioning coach. And that's just in 1 year. Believe me, Rutgers "issues" pale in comparison to ALL of these other programs. Gymnastics needs to be cleared up and If Hobbs was involved in the cover up, then he should have been fired. All will come out shortly.

    @samruda23 11 дней назад

    That was a really terrific commentary. I of course was way wrong in my post about what was really behind the resignation. Absent scandal, I thought this was a financial issue. While that looks to be unrelated, you actually picked up on several topics that I believe are financial in nature. Specifically, the NIL quote by Hobbs and the Jersey Mike's improvements. Both seem to have a common denominator in my view: RU's lack of money and lack of incremental bonding capacity. A decade into the B1G and RU is playing basketball in too small of arena. Hobbs gave himself away about a year or so ago in another interview on one of the Rutgers sites where he defended the arena size by comparing it to Northwestern. But Northwestern is a private, elite and national university. Northwestern is not the State U of Illinois. Beyond Hobbs, it all poses a key question: how does RU run a B1G Athletics Program with no money. And while BIG revenue share continues to be robust, RU has equally robust costs. There is no incremental dollars, absent grants and private giving to float bonds. That is why Jersey Mike's has been stuck in the design phase for close to 4 years and why the so-called Athletics Master Plan never has seen the light of day!

  • @dlindy9143

      "Consensual affair" with a person who reports to you directly? Who gave you multiple raises while your program continued to founder? You probably need to rethink that take.
