Putting 34’s on the New GMC Canyon…. Overland Build Part 1
Просмотров 17 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Welcome to Trail Therapy! In this video we begin the overloading build on my 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 with wheels and tires. I went with the Method Race Wheels 703, featuring their bead grip technology, in a 17x9 -12. paired with Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 285/75/R17, or 34 inches. It definitely didn't go as planned and I had to do a lot of trimming. Next up, rock sliders / running boards, and a lift ...

Had them a year on our 23 Trail Boss. Still look brand new and look awesome! I love them.
Since you didn't adjust your speedo/odometer for the larger wheels your calculated mileage is incorrect. Obviously, you're going faster (based on your gps observation) but you're actually traveling further with each tire rotation as well. You will need to calculate the increase in circumference from whatever tires you had on before to get an accurate MPG.
Dude lookin rad! Ive been having the same vibration issues on my 3rd gen. I have Toyo Open Country amd had them balanced 3 times as well. I wonder if its a 3rd gen truck thing? 😮
Great video! The leaf spring holes can be off needing some twisting like you mentioned if only one side is being lifted(worked on at a time). With both sides up and wheels off the spring holes should be level. 🤙🏼
Do you think it would be possible to fit 35" tires on an AT4X without a lift kit or trimming the fender well?
Hi Do you interested in adding some LED upgrade to your rig? We hope to do some sponsorship with you!
Finally in stock got my order in ty
I went eibach longer front spring for a spring lift. Keeps a more stock supple ride. I have a 18 zr2. May need diff drop
Bet the finish wears off by the end of the year especially in the salt belt
Def made it to the end. I’m a new 2024 Canyon owner. Following.
Hey man, appreciate the video. Isn’t much out there to compare with the truck being so new. I ended up doing your set up with a different tire and love it! I added pictures of my truck to level up suspensions page in the reviews and also on custom offsets if anyone would like to see it. Sterling Metallic color.
I’m curious what you paid for lift and tires and wheels? Awesome video 🤙🏽
Anyone who calls this a "truck" clearly has no clue what a "real truck" is. "Real Truck" owners NEVER don't do stupid stuff like sticking 40" tires on a stock Sierra 1500. 35" tires or bigger, lifted 2+ inches, V8 or larger, loud ass exhaust, 6 foot bed or longer, and sits on its own unique chassis. Thats how we do it here in Texas. You California city boys might do something different. I believe the Canyon sits on the same chassis as the traverse, and the Sierra 1500 Crew Cab Short sits on a Yukon's chassis and the crew cab long bed on the Yukon XL's chassis. All the other brands are the same way.
Sweet video..How are these holding up??
falken wildpeak AT3W has been great on my 4runner I recommend them especially in the rain
👍
You need to have pass through sockets to take apart the top hats correctly. Pass through sockets would allow you to hold the inner part with an allankey and use a scoket to take it off.
Do you regret doing the lift
Would you recommend this Gmc canyon im looking for something newer and i love this color i would be coming from my 2018 taco
I think you need to drop the sway bar and the diff an inch, should definitely help with ride quality
New videos?
Awesome video, and Thanks for the very detailed info, I am my self trying to decide on my wheels and tires... I own a 2024 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss in Sand Dune Metalic and either I am doing a 18x9 0mm or 17x9 -12mm but definitively 33's to avoid issues you mentioned. tomorrow actually I will be test fitting a set of LOCK Offroad BAJA 17x9 -12mm to see how it looks, and they have ordered 18x9 0mm KMC KM722 TECHNIC all in Mate Black. it's very strange that looking at all your videos it looked like your AT4 had a rake when new, and not actually level , my TBOSS is all leveled and it sure has a 2" Lift OEM, I bought it Saturday and it had a Z71 next to it and this was bigger(taller)
Do you regret doing the lift? My daughter is wanting to do a 6" lift on her Canyon.
I’m running a 17x8.5 with 0mm offset(factory is 17x8, neg12mm offset) KMC Riot beadlocks(red) and the Nitto Ridge Grappler 305/70/17 on my AT4X. No contact anywhere on full stuff and turn but I doubt you could get a pubic hair between the rim and brake caliper.
Howdy Colt. This fellow has been doing a similar thing as what you seem to have just started doing. Class act and one hell of a Strat player. (and has no clue I'm linking this) Cole Hoffpauir has me watching all your music videos so that's how I found my self here. Ask Ty about his music. Subscribed, liked and shared. Good luck! ruclips.net/video/LWFyzGr9qjw/видео.htmlsi=usFcQYMOssBi8B_C
Hiking. Hitting the trails. It keeps me sane. Glad to know I might bump into you out there somewhere.
Hey dude! thanks for the video, I also just acquired a brand new 24' canyon and want to do an overland built on it so I will be following your channel!
Love the build, Building a 2024, running Nitto 35's on the factory wheels, added the factory 1 1/2" lift, only rubs when you turn hard right, a file took care of it.
did the 1.5” lift just lift the front 1.5 or did it raise the front and rear 1.5 so they’re still not level? Thinking about getting it too but the website isn’t clear what it does
@@BensCanyonAT4 Both, and did not effect the ride, beware, you can't add the leveling kit to it. I'm actually thinking about swapping it out to what he did.
@@OldmanMike59 Yeah i would like the leveling kit too. Something like 3” in the front and 1.5” in the back would be good. But i dont even have 1k miles on her yet so i want to keep the warranty. Unfortunate GM doesn’t offer anything else
@@BensCanyonAT4 I haven't broken the 2k mark yet, but when I found out that it wasn't going to be level, my GMC dealer offered up changing the front out to Rough Country 4" on the front to get me closer, but that was another $1,000.00 plus install, and it still wouldn't be level. So I'm sticking with what I have until someone come out with a 4" leveling kit. I will bet it wont be a long wait.
Love the build, enjoyed both video's, building a 2024 AT4 running Nitto 35's on the stock wheels with the additional factory 1 1/2" lift, only rubs a smidge when I turn all the way right, took care of it with a file.
Just two more inches.
Quality video, quality channel. You deserve more subs brother! 🤝
How’s ur steering? Hearing these electric steering systems don’t like to be lifted and bigger tires
Great video too by the way. Very helpful
I wonder if leaving the strut compressors on during the install, with just a little compression, would help at all, if you can get them at a good angle I guess.....Personally havent done anything like this yet myself either but Im about to find out soon lol just on a trailboss....Was really hoping I could have just bought a new strut by now but the lack of parts are frustrating as hell
The lack of parts is very frustrating… I’ve spoken with King, and Fox, and they both seem to be around six months out from releasing any products. Currently, you can buy several kits from icon, but they seem to be built to order as there is like a 6 to 8 week lead time on, their products.
Had to give my fellow Nashville bros a subscribe. Just picked up my AT4 a coupe of weeks ago. Very interested to see where you go with the build.
Really like them. But they are currently sold out. Guess I can be patient for cheap "sliders". I'm not planning on doing anything I would need true rock sliders for. But I wouldn't mind something that can help mitigate a careless mistake or two.
Y can't you put spring compressors on and slightly torque them down to make install easier after the strut is longer?
Great video. Do you think you will need to get a larger spare tire?
Did you get some dash lights/error codes popping up after ur lift? Seen lots of people saying they had check engine and brake error codes afterwards. Tia Bob
i almost bought a 2024 blue canyon at4 but then my chevy dealer got in a colorado zr2 that i could not resist. your truck looks great. love the color.
I've got some OEM Nitto's on my 4Runner, balanced twice, and they're trash. Vibrate like hell in stock size. I won't buy another set.
Huge respect to you man .. I only know you from the producer channel, so this was a great surprise :)
Love the look of these! Great video, can you send an updated link to them? I can’t seem to find them for the canyon.
you think 33's would fit on a stock AT4? From what it looks like the 20" factory wheel option comes with a 275/60R20 tire that is about 33" so I figure something like a 285/70R17 would fit great
Love the Canyon, easily best "mid size" truck made today. Your demonstration here of installation is top notch too, excellent job. That said, I think I'd rather see if I could just pay you to do it for me. 🤣
Cool video. I enjoyed the honesty of your review. I'm glad I just went with the AT4X. It's got everything I could possibly want and need. The suspension rides amazing and it has an extra inch over the regular AT4. Plus it has 33's stock.
Hey, what kind of runningboards are you using?
Thanks for the review! I am looking for something to replace the stock rock sliders on my ZR2 with a step that makes it easier for people to get in and out of the the vehicle and these look perfect. If I ever need "real" rock sliders I can put the stock ones back on before I head out, but day to day this step will be far more functional without breaking the bank, and they look great to boot. Now I just need IronBison to get them back in stock for the Colorado so I can order a set!
The factory rock sliders have mounts for steps. GM offers steps for the ZR2 and AT4X. I just bought some and put them on today for my AT4X.
The part numbers are 84808889 for the front and 85158582 for the rear.
Your wife wants you to maximize your girth.
The leveling kit will fix your rubbin 100% you’ll be happy guaranteed 👍
