Threw my chain into my case on those tires 😂
@@tannermangum_611 dude no way! From what I remember you hit that section clean each time but got hung up once, that was probably it. I was surprised how common chain derails were on that obstacle
@ yeah, I made it through decent on the umora race. The Fasst 440 was the one that I got messed up at

I was a victim. Broke my rear fender and bent my shifter and rear brake lol I’m trash.
@@bradsowards89 that’s rough, Dude we’ve all been there though. I fell off the balance beam in cedar city by last year and had to rebuild the engine. I bet it happened trying to squeeze in between both tractor tires at the end of the section. As long as you got away with no injuries it’s all good!

Do the starting issues happen often still on the 2024s? Looking to purchase a new XC race bike and considering a yz250fx 24’ or a new 25’
@@LucasStanois I upgraded the battery to an anti gravity right when I bought it. I’m not sure how it starts with the stock battery. This was the only time it’s ever done this either racing or play riding. I’m thinking there was enough tension on the drive train and not enough clutch engagement to start in gear. I normally start in 2nd. If you find a good deal on a 24’ it’s worth saving money, I really like mine. That being said I will most likely sell it this fall or next when the new bikes are on sale, just to have a fresh machine. I really like the bike overall

Might make the jump to the YZ this year for fun. Have you ever ridden the 450FX?
@@cannonsmith184 I think you’d be impressed with the Yamaha. I haven’t ridden a newer 450fx. I would love to try one. From friends that I’ve ridden with that own one say that it has more power than you need. I had a buddy sell his ‘23 450fx and bought a ‘24 250fx. Seems like you can detune it pretty good from what I’ve seen. I’d be interested trying that. Kincaid Pavich just came out with a video and he tried a ‘25 and really liked it. As for me it’s pretty rare I wish I had more power on the 250.
@ yeah I definitely don’t need the 450 power but would be hopeful we could tame it down a bit. I saw that video with Kincaid and BeRad, that area is where I do a lot of my riding actually here in Phoenix. Seems like the 250 would be better suited for it in general but I ride some sandy areas too and I’m used to having the 250 two stroke power. I’m 190 no gear so I get apprehensive the 250f power would get sapped, I’ve seen your videos though and it seems okay, just don’t want to be revving it out like crazy. Idk man, they’re all great but I’m chasing more stability in general
@ I’m 185ibs. So we’re pretty close. I think the power is more usable in general on the 250, especially on singletrack. I recently had surgery on the collarbone so decided to get the suspension done while I had some downtime. Stoked to try that out. I have a couple more sand videos from Knolls I need to work on. My last ride I think showcases how capable the 250fx is in the sand. If I was more fit and a better rider I would probably favor the 450, but for me and where I’m at I don’t see a need for one. You’ll definitely find the stability you’re looking for with the Yamaha. That’s the first thing I noticed compared to my last two KTMs
@@eastman922 that’s exciting! Did you have stock springs or go up a spring rate when you got the bike initially? I’m like you, not a pro but I’m fit enough to do a 2 hour race but I get nervous the 450 would ride me. I only am considering it for longevity purposes and less maintenance haha but seems like these 250fx bikes are solid
@ I’m on stock springs, just adjusted the valving. I went with the Alpine XC reds cone valves. They will allow the suspension to stay plush initially but are progressive and hold up on the bigger hits. I haven’t ridden with them yet so can’t wait to try them out. Good news is these Yamahas hold their value, so I’m sure you could go either way and switch if you felt like you had to
No
@MasonR-c4p I’ve been liking the 4T recently for most of my riding

@eastman922 Yea hopefully Yamaha makes a 300 2T an a 350F that would be amazing
@ I think that would be cool. If KTM goes away, which might not happen, but if it were to… that would be a good space to fill for Yamaha. I’d buy one
I want one
@@Country-k3q it’s a banger!

@@TheDailyKnife009 especially with the snappy action and thin handle. A button would be sweet. I think it’s cool how lightweight they were able to make this thing. Overall a nice design. It’s one I’m not mad about adding to the collection for sure

@@TheDailyKnife009 this one was a gift which makes it acceptable! I’m with you about the price, It’s hard to justify that much for any knife really. Although a Reiff F5 would be tempting. I will say for what you pay for the Auto Fact, the construction and feel is amazing.

@@millerpb yes that would’ve helped a lot. For me a saw the ribbon and a trail, which normally you tend to follow, and turns usually have an arrow… so I kept going straight down the hill. did you like the 250 more then your old ktm 350
@@Jacobwilson61 I like the suspension much better on the Yamaha. I also like the handling better. The KTM never felt as stable or planted as this one does. The 350 motor is pretty awesome, pulls more than the 250. The biggest downside to the 350 for me at least, was its ability to punish you if you didn’t ride it correctly in whatever situation you were in. Something to do with that year’s chassis and engine characteristics made it fun and playful but also twitchy and sensitive to terrain. It liked to be ridden in the low-mid rpms. This yz250fx handles most situations about the same, making it very predictable. Both are great bikes but for me and my fitness level I can race the 250 a lot harder for longer. I even saw my lap times decrease dramatically, proving to myself that I’m faster on the 250 in general. Not the shortest answer but hope my experience helps.
@@eastman922 i feel like the 350 would help you also be faster becaseu of having more speed you are looking for that on the 250 and riding harder to get that speed
@ that may be true in some scenarios. What comes to mind is flat open stuff, long uphill sandy sections, things like that. For the most part they feel pretty comparable. I found that most of the speed comes from carrying momentum and cornering rather than HP from the throttle

I’ve done some longer desert races and haven’t had an issue with fuel, as long as I’m topping off at the pits. Thanks for watching dude, it’s a blast to be on a course like this. I’ve got 35ish hours so far on the machine and it’s been incredible. Only time will tell with longevity but so far my body is less reliable than the bike lol

@@cannonsmith184 thanks brotha. I did this same race in January and was 50 seconds faster per lap this time. Stoked on that. They had a Yamaha demo day this last weekend in mesquite, I’m sure they’ll have one close to where you’re at, at some point. Then you could try a 250fx. For these style of races this bike is ideal for me. There were a few instances where I wish it had a little more power, to make up for my lack of skill lol like in the rollers and the uphill jump into the Offroad section. I’ve slowed the shutter speed down a bit to add a little motion blur, it makes the video look more life like in my opinion
@@eastman922 Great improvement for sure! Man I've been asking the dealers here (Phoenix) if there are ride days scheduled but nothing yet, will definitely do that though if one is close.
