Thanks Vince !
thanks
i don't like the reverb, with many libraries my problem is this large room acoustics. looking for a library that sounds like in a really small practise room kinda acoustics, like real small room so that the instruments are close you got recommendations?
@@crackcaster these and sample modeling strings can be completely dry!
Incredibly work!
Gorgeous orchestral arrangement of a beautiful song!
Amazing and excellent arrangement! I really appreciate the brass build at the end and the relief the string ensemble provides after the break. A very beautiful job overall!
Ah thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
This is SO beautiful!! Thank you for sharing this! 👏
as a beginner , can I use the strings that come with Logic pro or is there some Free library I can Download because there is no use me wasting money on a pro Library at this stage .
@@edwardmacnab354 www.spitfireaudio.com/bbc-symphony-orchestra-discover check out the bbc symphony orchestra free edition from Spitfire!
weaving some majic here Vince..🙏
You nailed it! Very good
Nice arrangement :-)
Thanks!
Wow!! This brought the original composition and arrangement to a new level! Love what you did here. I especially love how it builds in the end with those romantic-esk (dare I say disney-ish) lush string movements. Beautiful orchestration too!
Yep I have no shame about the Disney influence - specifically Alan Menken era :)
@@vincecomposer yeah Menken's amazing, and you did an awesome job here
@@vincecomposer Oh yea, man who doesn't love Disney especially like you said that Alan Menken era is truly classic!!
I’m an unreserved Jacob Collier fan. By that I mean that I love his imagination wherever it goes. I’m not interested in saying, “Yes, but . . . “ about his music. Does that mean that I’m uncritical, that I suspend judgment when it comes to Jacob Collier? It kind of does and he’s a rare exception in that regard. I do it because I really don’t want to drift to the other bank of the River where he’s viewed with untrusting, deep reservation. I refuse to yes-but Jacob Collier. I’d much rather trust him. I don’t know if you view him the same way but you obviously trust the arc of ‘Stars.’ It shows in the way your lovely, loving arrangement carries the tune and the story along. Nicely done! Cheers.
@ thanks for the thoughtful comment! Yes, his music might not be to everybody’s taste, but I also share your trust, that it’s coming from a sincere place rather than showboating. He’s unusually transparent, which is definitely refreshing.
Awesome job Vince!
Like it. Wasn't sure when I saw the caption but I thought, well, this is Vince :). It works well. Plenty of space to weave around the 'crooner' in an old fashioned atmospheric style. One more feather in your cap and another string to your bow.
Thanks for taking a chance on it Martin!
@@vincecomposer :)...
Lovely!
I really hope this makes it for him to watch! The arrangement is absolutely worthy of it! Cheers!
Thanks!
Wooonderful dude! Metropole Orkest soon!
Hey Runar! Haha 🤞saw them in Paris with Snarky Puppy, crazy gig!
Beautiful arrangement. That would make a great concert closing piece for him.
Appreciate it!
Beautiful!
Dang it, I thought this was the tutorial on how to pirate music.. 🤦♂️
😂sorry to disappoint
if you dont want portamento triggered, use logic’s midi velocity plugin on channel strips.
Not sure if that will help with your library but it definitely works with all my orchestra libraries and I have quite a few.
I really like the Clare Fischer sounding chords from ca 35:07 on 🙂 Can you enlighten us what kind of chords you played there or the music theory behind those progressions (other than "noodling" lol) ?
Hmm! Lots of 4 note ‘jazz’ chord voicings and voice leadings eg major sevenths in inversions with unusual bass note choices- so the more complex sounds are often the result of two tonal centres meeting. Definitely a lot of it is listening discovery and responding to what I’ve just played rather than pre thought out. Hope that helps!
@vincecomposer Thanks ! A intended dissonance definitely seems to play a role, so i'm gonna give this concept of 7maj + unusual bass note a try next time. Btw, i said "Clare Fischer" because your chord progressions (and the sound) reminded me a lot of the string arrangements he did for Prince over the years, also very prominent on his "The Family" side project ("Screams of Passion" comes to mind). If you haven't checked that one out (they only had one album, which contains the original version of "Nothing compares 2 U"), you definitely should, if only for those string arrangements. 🙂
When played with Divisimate as full chordal arrangements, i don't think they sound fake or synthetic. To my ears, it's a nice con sordino sound of a small string section. The expressiveness does add a lot to the realism, without those options i might agree to "fake", but the way it is, i really like the sound.
Yes, expressiveness can often trump realism too ! In retrospect, I might have been a little negative on this library as it definitely has its uses
Thank you, thank you, thank you! The best tips I've seen on the web with this series!
Pretty neat stuff, but I think it could be more effective pedagogically if you used some solfege in your discussion
Really helpful video- thanks Vince!

Great stuff Vince, I've been rather binge watching your videos lately - so nice to stumble across someone who actually knows their stuff! You really should consider designing a course in composition and arrangement.
