Good video. On the street I mostly use my X-T5 + 18mm f/2 kind of like my Ricoh 18mm GRIII with 'snap' or zone focus: preset focus to 2m (2 big steps from a wall), flick front lever to MF, then with the 18mm lens at f/8, I know pretty much everything from 1m to infinity will be in focus. Then, in M-mode with Auto ISO (or Aperture priority with ISO at say 800), it is just thought to 'LCD': Light, Composition, and Timing 😀 Easy. The only downside, unlike the GR, is that as soon as you focus on a closer than 1m object by turning the lens ring with focus peaking, the original 2m focus setting is not remembered, and you need to preset it again. That makes the Ricoh focus system unique I guess.

'Zoom' is probably the most misused word in photography. 'Telephoto' is what many are actually referring to. All sorts of focal length ranges can be zoom lenses. There are plenty of very popular wide-angle zoom lenses that have absolutely nothing to do with taking photos of things far away.

Learning curves are good for any camera, I had a 14 year old DSLR, that I thought I knew inside out and then one day I found someone talking about a feature I never used...lol. Glad you are enjoying the Fuji. Gear is fun, as long as the gear does not take away from your creativity. Have so many fun cameras, but I do have cameras that are definitely made to work for work. I get the blackout sometimes as well. A simple turn off and on fixes it, so it’s not just you brotha. Hopefully a firmware update fixes that as well

JC, great tip about changing the orientation of the battery cover to indicate a spent battery!

I have a Nikon Z6iii and the aftermarket batteries that worked on Z6 doesnt work eith the new camera too.

V1.0.1 firmware coming next week to fix these problems!!! I’m having the same shit, err70 cooked my first body, and then on my second one I got the green/no video screen problem. CPS is sending repaired bodies back with v1.0.1 so this should be behind us next week.

Taking off hotshot cover is easy with gentle good technique press in button & gently slide back from front. No third party batteries do not work & the old batteries will give less than a thousand images but that ok it is designed for the battery that comes with it which l feel last longer than original R5. There is a batch of batteries coming very soon. There is a firmware coming in next few weeks for the bugs. I find eye control quite useful l just find light leakage effects it most am waiting for the large eyecup accessory.

My R6 mkii did some weird blackout stuff but it got way better when I used faster SD cards. Maybe try that?

Oh my! Never seen so many issues. Might have a lemon. This is why I am so afraid to buy anything new and pricey. Sorry to hear that you are having challenges. I have many brands of cameras, only one camera had an SD card reader fail. killed the camera and it was cheaper to replace it. Anywho... hope all your challenges gets sorted! Thanks for sharing!

What app do you use for making the white frame ?

I'm waiting for the RF 50mm f1.4 L VCM. I currently have the RF 50mm f1.8 STM and it is very slow and loud, optically not the best either. The RF 50mm f1.2 L USM is very heavy and even though it is a USM it is quite slow and expensive. So the new RF 50 f1.4 should finally be what I want - very fast, affordable, optically good, and a weight of around 500g which I accept. The RF 35mm f1.4 L VCM is nice, but for portraits it slightly distorts the face when taking close-up photos. I find the 50mm focal length more versatile, although yes, it's not as fun as the 35mm.

What recipe do you use?
