Applying Custom Decals
In this video I will show how I apply my custom made decals. I will be using my Scout vehicle decal sheet with the Cult of the Spacewyrm patern.
I can't recommend Microsol and Microset enough, and use a lot of layers as you will see in the video, just make sure to be gentle as custom decals are more brittle than factory made ones.

What strength magnets are you using here? N35 magnets are half the price of N42/N52 ones, so it'd be good to know if I can go for the cheaper option before I order anything.

WARNING! When you use a magnet to pull another magnet into place, DO NOT have the piece pointed toward your eyes! The glue splatter can get launched right into them. One of the first times I did this, I felt a tiny droplet hit my cheek. I realized, when you do this, you should have it tilted so you actually can't see the magnet...
Thanks for the advice, I had no issues with this myself but it will obviously depends o a lot of factors. I also recommend not using superglue if you store them in cold places during winter as the magnets may come off due to the glue freezing and breaking.
@@scumb4g.kustoms I had used magnets to pull others into place a few times with no problems before I felt that little drop, but I realized how lucky I was. You may not have had this issue since you're using the gel, and I think I was using regular superglue. Still, probably best to at least wear some kind of protective glasses, just to be safe... :) Also, the point about freezing glue breaking is a good one. :)
@@madnessbydesign1415 Yes the gel part might actually be better for this, but always good to take precautions like protective eyewear! Thank you for making me aware of this!

Thanks for this. I always put a small dot of paint in the side of the magnet that doesn't get glued so I don't forget the polarity. I'll also be using that plastic glue finish tip!
I’d like to point this out for the Dome/Silo magnetizing. You have to have four magnates on the silo for the three magnates on the dome to have three points of contact for any position.

Can you still get the thermic plasma conduits, if so where can I get them from//?
Question: How thick is the plasticard that has been used ? And if so would you use the same,thicker or thinner if you need to build a new set?
ouch, that's a good one, don't think I remember really maybe .25mm if that makes sense. basically I don't like to use the flimsy stuff so it needs to be sturdy but I wouldn't go for thicker as that is just making it harder to cut especially in a circle. I would change the glue I used though as I keep my scenery in a place that gets very cold during the winter and this gives issues with the superglue and it might come apart, so if you store your scenery in a cold place go for plastic glue instead.
@@scumb4g.kustoms For what it is worth - you can do both. Superglue for the initial bond, then run some Tamiya Extra Thin down the seam and it will find its way in and solidify the piece.

I'm curious, have you ever had any trouble with electronics playing with this terrain? I've got a load of sector mechanicus terrain too and I was looking to magnetize some of it, but the amount of magnets that'll end up on the table makes we worry for my phone or keys if I ever put them down next to my plasma pipes.

I wish to suggest for anyone following this video. for the Silo and Dome magnets, the join lines were the quarter sections glue together is probably the easier marker to align your magnets with.
I like how I have had almost the opposite idea for how to do the pipes. Make all the long parts with negative polarity pointing out each in, and then positive pointing out on broken ends, control points, bends, terrain ect. I will then cut a long section into 4 "super shorty" sections, 2 posative and two negative as a adaptor.

do you realize that for plastic-on-plastic joints any styrene glue works a lot better than superglue, right? :-)
I do, but for making a video this worked a lot quicker. It's also a lot more forgiving if you mess up, but yeah don't store them in cold places :p

is a shame that we don't get the kelermorph separate, i would love to have at least 2 of those, but paying for the other miniatures+ scenery is something that i dislike.

Well you have been quiet. :D This one is a no sale for me I have to say. Never been into GW version of Orcs though I do like the Middle Earth versions. I find the greenskin version a little too cartoon like for me. I have the same feeling about Sigmarines however. I am looking forward to the new Necromunda gang however.
I know right 😥 moved into a new house so took me a while to get set up. Just an easy short video before I go for the next magnetizing one. I feel the same way about Sigmarines, and am not sure how I feel about the new Delaque yet. I love the new models but would have loved to see those coats flying around.
